What ??? Another Springs thread !!!

Featured Replies

Right people.

Looking into springs at the moment. But kinda on a budget.

Currently looking at a set, but...they dont specify that they're for the vRS.

However, they do specify that the axle weight they support at 960kg front, and 840rear.

From what i can gather in the searches, the vRS is 960, so i should be ok shouldn't i ?

Looking to run them on standard shocks at the moment, but the drop -55mm, so taking into account the vRS is already a tad lower as standard, probably a -40mm drop by fitting these.

Any thoughts ?

Your sump will be scraping the floor.

No different from those who've dropped on coilovers tho.

I personally think that those running wound down coilovers aren't running at a drivable height. I've dropped mine 25mm on the Eibachs, and my sump catches every now and again driving on the appalling Cornish road. End of the day it's up to you - but I don't think being that low will cope with the terrible British road network.

still horribly low, do a few searches and you will see how low it gets, and how close the sump comes to the tarmac

Thanks for the advice guys.

Will take it on board.

They do a smaller drop, so in theory they should still be ok with those axle weights ?

You mean the undertray, with -25mm on, the sump shouldnt be catching unless there are big boulders. seems strage if it does tho

There aren't big boulders as such - the odd rock from a Cornish wall and 2ft deep potholes. And the side of the road is about a foot lower than the tarmac.

Cornish walls have never caused me a problem in Edinburgh. :D

Stick with eibachs ;)

Get a grip!

Sump will be nowhere near the ground with a 40mm drop.

People are so over the top with lowering on this forum.

Im not singeling you out here but that all it seems to be when somone loweres their car.

Get a sump guard, get a metal undertray, bla bla.

My motor is running on coilovers, wound all that way down at the rear and quite a bit at the font.

Possibly running 50mm drop and i can fit my fist under the undertray.

A few more inches above that is the sump, so how do you work that out?

Go for the 40 drop, or if you save a bit more go for a set of coilovers, you wont regret it.

My set up as actually alot smoother than i thought it would be.

Go for it Johnny!

Excellent.

Cheers lads.

Very tempted just to get them...can always punt them if i'm not happy. :D

I'll measure up the standard VRS ride height and my ride height at the weekend and report back.

Top man Andy, thanks a lot.

I'll measure mine, and then 55-60mm down and see what clearance i have then.

Bearing in mind i'm still on the 16's until the porkers are ready. :)

What style are you going for?

Nice to see some more unusual alloy choices!

Nothing too fancy, just 17" Boxster S alloys.

:)

Just need to save for the adaptors now !!

Well i'm not getting the Porkers now!

Sticking with standardish wheels for now.

Back on the topic of springs,

I noticed KW do a set of -30mm springs for the RS, does anyone know how they would compare to the Eibachs ?

There's only £14 difference in price.

Eichachs -25mm £129

KW's - 30mm £115

Any thoughts ?

The KW's sit a bit lower than the eibachs.

I'll get a pic of a guy using a full kit.

Hold on.

Eichachs defo mate hold on 2 ticks going to pm someone that was selling bachs for£40 I think

Eibachs, Eibachs Eibachs.... tried and tested ;)
