Mintex Extreme Bedding in procedure???

Featured Replies

What is the bedding in procedure for mintex extreme pads as ive read the fitting instructions and no info on it. thanks

The same as any other brakes :). Don't brake too hard for a couple of hundred miles, ideally get them warm a few times, not hot, allowing them to cool in between.

Mine had bedding in instructions with them!? I can't really remember what they said. I basically just drove carefully for a bit. They felt crap at first but then they got better, a lot better!

so theres no hard braking from specific speeds to bed them in?

If you do that you risk the friction materila coming away from the backing plate. I personally wouldnt advise hard braking until you have covered a couple of hundred miles and done the heat cycling - warm/cold etc

They should come with quite specific instructions in the box, all three sets I have fitted did. They are quite specific about being specific and what they specify ;)

Mine did too. If I remember - its at least 2 weeks ago:O- you had to stop from 30 2 or 3 times then from 70 down to 30 2 or 3 times then stop and let them cool (or stop smoking in my case:eek:) and that was it. I took it fairly easy for about 200miles now they seem to work well. They were making a lot of noise to start with but a quieter now - no idea why

That's the one. Not too easy to accomplish in a small town....

The shims are very thin on them, I would make sure you use plenty of Kopper Kote on them to prevent squeal

followed this procedure in the end, was thinking though whats the chance of boiling the fluid doing this?

I doubt it.

Yea, pretty unlikely I'd think.

I drove soft for about 200 miles and got fed up with the noise / lack of grip they had so followed the procedure.

To be honest I'm not impressed with this mintex / discs at all, but then again they aren't the extremes just the normal mintex and for £80 delivered for the discs and pads what did I expect!! :D

lots of joyus squeeling!!! but its my fault i tore the shim then putting on of the pads in in a rush. tbh doesnt bother me to much though.

very impressed with them so far though and looking forward to have fluid done aswell.

  • 2 weeks later...

if you want decent stopping pads, seriously consider ferodo ds2500's.

Work very well.
