Wireless ADSL router problem.

Featured Replies

Just a thought - is it just DNS?? Go to a cmd window and enter:

nslookup

set d2

www.microsoft.com

see if it times out. If it does perhaps the primary DNS is duff.

sounds like the line is re-syncing every few minutes. Make sure you've got a DSL splitter on the line and that there aren't any timouts set on the router for the dsl connection

If this is Netgear 834G running f/w 1.4 then there are some connection drop issues. Try rolling back to v1.3

Hmmm. Yes. Connection drops indeed. I was on v1.2 and foolishly upgraded to v1.4 on recommendation. Now I have had to reboot the router 4 or 5 times (never happened before). There are some equally nasty problems with 1.3 from what I understand too! Ugh.

ok guys, sorry but only just spotted this thread, I have one of these routers and HAD the same problems, but i found a beta test on some firmware and it is the latest version you can get ( but not from netgear ) it is version 1.04.04.

since I have installed this firmware upgrade the router has been connected for 2 weeks without a drop  :D

Enjoy

no probs, anytime m8

Hope it sorts it out for you as it defenalty has done the trick on mine :D

Dave,

just had a thought......check that the IP addresses are different or you'll get a conflict. You still see that your LAN is connected but you'll get no internet connection.

If you have to change the IP address do the modem without the router connected. Reboot pc...so it can pick up the new address......then all should be fine.

Then connect in your router.
