Felicia Estate (96) - Rear mounted cycle carriers?

Featured Replies

Good Day.

Am looking for a rear mounted cycle carrier for my 96 model felicia. Have spoted some, Thule and Montblanc high rear mounted carriers, so high the lights and numberplate are not obscured. They seem expensive, upto £110 roughly.

I wondered if anyone has any tips or suggestions as i have never used a cycle carrier before.

Plan to travell with my skoda, is the main reason for chosing an estate, so i can put a materess in the back, and have room to kip in it if need be, put my cycle on the back and have room for some belongings, a surfboard and myself :)

Unsure if you can get a cycle carrier on the boot that will let you open the boot with the carrier still attached or with cycle still on carrier. Or if they have to be completly removed to use boot.

Any tips or advise will be apprieciated

Hi and welcome !

You might get more answers if you repost your question in another section, either the Felicia:

or in this case maybe the styling/car care section.

Towbar or not? There are carriers that don't require a towbar, you strap them on the tailgate somehow (have never tried them, only the towbar model). If towbar mounted you'll probably always have to remove them before opening the Felicia tailgate. If mounted on the tailgate itself I would guess it could be left there but the bike of course can't be left there.

Halfords has a strap-fitted one for under £40 but I have no idea as to quality:

Halfords Value Rear Low Mount 2 Cycle Carrier from Halfords Price £37.99

Hello Luke, welcome to Briskoda.

Welcome mate.

I like the sound of it, bit of cycling, bit of surfing and then having a kip in the back. :)
