got flashed

Featured Replies

got falshed by a spped cammera this morning on the way home from work

worst of it is i was only doing 29 mph but i have no way of proving it if it becomes necesary

Where was this about mate?

I would not worry about it, if you were doing 29mph in a 30mph, then you have nothing to worry about, could be the case that your speedo is out and you get something like 5mph over before they can do you.

You should be fine, it could have been triggered by a number of things. The road marking will show that you were travelling below the limit, thats what those white marking are just past the camera.

thanks guy

it was on the a80 at Moodiesburn

would still like to know how i set it off

the only thing i can think of is the antenna for my ham radio is on the back of the car but its never set off a gatso in the 8 years iv had one on any of my cars

it could have been anything, it may even have been a bird, or a false radar reflection.

It could have been someone going the other way. I have seen this loads of times.

Mark

If it flashed once then def nothing to worry about, some of the GATSO's only flash once when they are dummies.

Others flash when cars go past the other way (that it cant get) as they dont have a bar on them to stop oncoming traffic setting them off. This bar costs several thousand pounds so they leave it off as a deterent to both directions of traffic.

It could also be a car overtaking you of course.

Worse case scenario you would be able to get the pics from the GATSO and with the aid of a calculator work out your own speed.

So, nothing to worry about there!

It's a dual carriageway with GATSOS in each direction at this point :mad:

it flashed twice

it is a dual caridgway

and i was watching the speedo not the other caridgeway (or what i should have been looking out for )

As has already been said if you are sure re your speed the secondary check marks on the road surface will prove your speed.

Could be a faulty unit.... (not uncommon)

faulty unit if your sure of your speed.

i had one in brighton flash me when i was doing 30mph, so to test it we went back and drove past at 25, 20 ,15mph. lashed everytime. best one was when a milk float went past it and set it off too! :) next time i saw it they had put a new one in its place.

I've been flashed by a GATSO in Brighton a few times in the past, always the same one. The A23 heading north with a park on the right IIRC. I've been flashed by a few oncoming as well, mainly with the ladders on the roof :D Obviously not good for my Radar Cross Section - Northrop take note: no ladders on the B2 Spirit :P

it might not have any film in it or has run out.

secondly apart from doing less than the limit and most cameras are set well above the limit i point you to the secondary check that needs to be performed which is the lines on the road. as the camera takes the pics half a second apart, if any thing comes through go back down to the camera, measure the distance between each line and do a sum like this:

A(the distance in cm)*2(makes it one second)*60 secs*60 mins divide by 8000 multipy by 5 and this will give you your speed im mph.
