Looks of admiration.........

Featured Replies

Since having the Octy for a few weeks now we have noticed quite a few people having a sneaky look at it, some even having a double take.

Left the wife in the car at B&Q last week and a bloke stared at the car for quite a while and was even heard to say "oh, its a Skoda!" and then saw the wife in the car and went all red, lol.

Used to drive a Navara and that got a lot of attention, although partly due to its outright size (5.5M long) but the vRS seems to get more.

Anyone have any more stories to tell, does your ride get lots of attention?

Steve

Yeah - When I park mine outside my own office window, I often see people looking at it - actually stopping to walk around it! The thing which troubles me is those people are usually 60+, not your boy racer types. :o

I used to get lots of looks when I had the vRS. This was back in 2001 so even fewer people knew what one was , and were pretty surprised when they saw the Skoda badge!! Funilly enough , no one looks at the Fabia! ;)

Came out of Woolworths one night on my local trading estate to find a man peering in through the window of my Octy. I was a good 50 yards away and by the time I got close the man had his wife looking the car over as well.

As I walked up to the car and pressed the remote the interior lights came on making them both jump back:rofl: "Nice car that" he said "Hope you don't mind us having a look but I wasn't sure what it was".

The guy complimented the wheels and jumped into a MK3 Golf that was parked next to mine.

I once had a guy in a Honda Civic Type R leaning around his B pillar to have a look as well:D Funny because it's quite surprising how many people do have a double take.

:)I get all sorts of looks and comments from other people about my old Skodas ranging from p!$$ing themselves laughing to "WOW, it's great to see one of those, haven't seen one for years". :P If I'm in the Bugrat I get kids waving at me.

Parked in Hull when I first got my Leon, walking towards it down the pavement towards a couple having a good look at it coming the other way. Heard the bloke say "that leon looks really smart" to his GF. Later that day a man came up to me and had a chat about it as his son had just bought one!

The security gaurd on a gate at a customers site gave me directions to the building I needed to be in then said "Nice car mate" as I pulled away.

I was at a customers site the other day and we were going out to visit one of his customers and as we were walking towards his car he commented "that's a really nice car, I wonder who's that is?" to which I replied it's mine! Felt a bit sheepish when we got in his car as he's a director with a lowly 1.9TDi A3 SE and i'm an engineer with a Leon FR!

When I had the Octavia I got a few double takes as it was fairly rare then but no comments, common as muck now them Octavia twos! :)

We get 'sneaky' looks - now if were the famed 2litre petrol Fabia I'm sure 'twould be different

Mine gets the odd look, but I think that's down to the rather noisy exhaust more than anything else.

Yep, my red one certainly turns heads... even more so now with my flash intake!!

Its great fun scareing pedestrians and cyclists! :P

Parked outside the pub tonight and watched an older couple park a Felicia estate a few cars down from ours, get out and walk past staring at our and continuing along looking back over their shoulders! Sort of gives you a warm feeling that someone else likes your choice (either that or they thought it was crap!).

:blahblah: is that old nugget still doing the rounds then??

The best double take I've seen was at the recent Newbury meet, a young family arrived in dads 'new' Octy vRS only to find the car park full of 'em! :D

My work's car park has at least 6 various resident, plus a few visiting, vRSs I know of plus numerous Fellys/Furbys/Octys/Superbs. I've never caught anyone checking the car out but normally always have a remark how people have heard they're good when they ask what car I drive.

I've had a few drivers looking over at the car when driving alongside them or standing alongside them. Also had lots of good comments from people at work.

Had quite a few people tell me they like my numberplates too.

The front one says "Yeah it's a Skoda..... Get over it!!!" and the rear says "It's a Skoda, a diesel.... And in front of you!!!". :D:D:D

Cheers

Dave.

Smog Monster and I witnessed a Scooby WRX driver having a good look around ours at the Pirelli Rally. He also looked at the race blue Fabia vRS parked opposite us too.

Ha ha!!!

Today I pulled up to fill with fuel, and as I was walking to pay, the guy who was filling his M5 (07 plate) infront of me said "Nice cars them mate", to which I responded "No need to take the P*** mate", to be told "No really, got one as my daily driver and love it to bits"...

:D

i recently had the local ch@v racers come up behind me, point out its a skoda and go to boot past. waited till they were level and booted it. i later went to get petrol and there they were, well impressed with the power, they didnt realise skodas were that good!!

You'd be suprised how many young boy racer types are quite open to the idea of having a Skoda. It does depend on how they have been raised though, if there parents always had the trusty Chavalier Vauxhall so won't know any better, but I know a few young people who's parents had Octavias and the children have bought Fabias.

I'm sure Skoda would sell a lot more Fabias to younger buyers if they introduced a special deal for first time car buyers, like £250 a month for a new Fabia, free service and includes insurance for the duration of the contract.

The idea of the free servicing and maintenance offer that Skoda had on the Felicia got me into the brand. Doubt they would bring it back though.

Most of them are already over on the Fabia forum trading stories about leaving Civics and the like for dead.;)

Not had many admiring glances at my car (that I've noticed). Have had a guy in an ASDA car park ask me about it and how many miles mentioning he hadn't seen many of them about anymore.

So long as no baseball bats or bricks are involved all's good :D:rofl:

Am pleased and surprised at just how many of the Favorites I see around here, and at how they are in such good condition

When we first got the Octy 4x4 we had quite a few people wandering past the front of the house stopping to have a look - did tend to be the older residents though (although it's that sort of area so unsurprising). The guy across the road with a Dax was also very complimentary about them too.
