Furby vRS vs Mini Cooper

Just checked on the mini.co.uk site:

Cost of Mini Cooper to vRS standard spec

Well the Furby beat the Cooper S around the track when Tiff whatshisname was driving it (only by about a car length though)

Nope than wasn't the Cooper S that was the Cooper, big differnce of the S having a Supercharger.

Mini = Sh-it by the way unless it is the original mini cooper which is tops.

My wife has a Cooper and I have just had a Furby vRS so I get to drive both on a regular basis. I must admit I prefer the Furby as the Cooper is lifeless below 3.5k and is forever catching me out. On the flipside the Cooper is one of the best handling cars I've driven (bar my mates Elise!) but the sacrifice in fuel economy is a high price to pay (Cooper 31mpg/Furby 47mpg). The Cooper is our second one as the first a '51 plate spent more time in the dealers workshops than out on the road - in the end after 12 months of woe the dealer swopped it for a brand new '52 plate at no extra cost (result or what!). The latest one we have is a much better build quality but not without it's faults.

Agree with the comments so far the Cooper handles like a dream, but the chassis is in desperate need of more power. If the vRS is quicker round a track as standard, imagine how much better it would be with Eibachs and strut brace (500 quid?) and chipped (500 quid) :D

But agree with Jeff's comments - it's highly priced because it's highly "desirable" and this could be seen in the lack of depreciation, or in some cases appreciation of 2nd hand prices when they first came out - anyone know if that's the case still after all the problems seem to be having with them?

before I got the fabia I was looking at the diesel Mini One. It felt well put together and handled well..............but.............it's really underpowered with a very very small power band (even for a diesel) and it would have cost me

I sold my Cooper and bought a Furby vRS.

waynef on this forum changed his Cooper S for a vRS

2nd hand new shape Minis are still fairly rare, so prices are very high (sometimes they have only lost

i recently had a little drive in a mini D one and lets just say its awful....the dash is so flimsy an plasticy compared to the vag groups build quality its awful the speedo is hard to read at times an the space is mmmmm adequite shall we say still woulda chose a furby over the mini.

The vRS is 130bhp, the Mini Cooper is 115bhp.

But then again the vRS is quite a lot heavier than the Cooper..

Almost a year on from when the thread was started ;):D

The cooper (and s) have no comfort levels at all. After a two hour drive you really feel the effects...

The suspension is great for handling but not so good for big breasted ladies - not that I am one... Honest... :)

Yeah I just noticed that :o

I don't believe the stories that Minis hold their money. I had a brand new one which I traded in for my VRs. I didn't like it at all and only kept it for eleven months. It was so uncomfortable and would shake your teeth out. It was also very underpowered.

When I came to trade it for my VRs the saleman rang eleven dealers and only one wanted it! Not that desirable then. I ended up losing 3

which mini did you have?
