Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS)

Featured Replies

Hmmm... I think it is ok for OEM. Have changed the HU to an Alpine XDA one and there has been an improvement, but not quite what I want.

Next steps will be JL ZR Components, lots of sound proofing, and a small JL or Alpine Amp :)

I'd say the standard stereo is the worst thing about the car (great car though!). The OEM stereo in my previous car (golf gt tdi 130) was far better.

Mine sounds a lot better since I discovered the rear tweeter trick - can really turn it up now which is nice.

Elaberate? sounds interesting? :)

Not the handling then? The huge headstand it does on hard braking or the power-off/power-on lurching that the back end employs to encourage one to slow down?

No problem mate

edit: see post below for working link

Good lad. :D

Link doesnt work.

Never had any complaints about the OEM setup myself. Added a CD changer to avoid having to swap discs so often, but other than that and a bit of sound insulation in the doors, I've just left it. Never really seen the point in having a super high-fidelity sound system inside an acoustically-questionable box, personally...

:o

Try this one

Excellent. :)

I came from a Fiesta ST and found the standard vRS sound quality ****. I changed the head unit for a JVC (or Jooovke as the FoneJacker says!) and the quality is sooo much better now. I don't think there is need to change any speakers unless you want to go deaf early.

Only problem I got is that radio reception is worse with the JVC? Amplifier broken?

I reckon the standard setup is quite good for sound quality although the radio tuning is starting to wind me up a bit,, anyone got any tips for this ??

Apart from changing the Head Unit of course !!
