Cost of a good coil pack is priceless.

As for which cars it effects there is a definite way of telling.

Take off the black plastic engine cover by turning the 4 No. plastic screws by a quarter and remove cover. Remove one of the plastic electrical connections at the back of the coil pack and read the product code on the now exposed black plastic, if the last letter in the code is a 'H' you have the old faulty type, if it is a 'J' type you have the new ones. There, clear as mud.

having been slightly detached from the whole coil pack thing since selling the RS, i am more, not less, angry at how stupid this situation is. it's pretty inexcusable that a massive number of cars around the world have been affected by this yet, as it's not a 'safety' issue, no recall is happening ( from VAG UK at least).

I'd like to add the engine should be off at this point...while doing my kiddie duty of cutting the grass I noted the sparky plug cover thing looked loose, np I can do this, so bend down push...there's 10years heart activity knocked off.

Back to the topic, they are meant to be 12GBP + vat or there abouts, but you will pay more as dealers get them and hold for "warranty jobs" over selling them...actually just had an idea..brb

hmmnn - think I almost took the darwin award last weekend when doing the mowing with a storming hangover. Grass was wet so not using the collecting bag, very long grass so cut grass was occasionally getting stuck / not being thrown out. So, obviously, was having to occasionally stop the blade moving and stick my hand in and clear the cr*p .... heartstopping moment was when I suddenly realised I had my hand halfway in there and the blade was still engaged :stupid:

Frightened the hell out of me so have now determined never to do any mowing under the influence of alcohol (before/after or during!!). Not sure that my wife has fully recognised the implications of my decision

I remember whilst cutting mygrass once I cooly ran over my toes with the sides of the mower.........luckily its missed shoes and feet!!.

Just goes to show you the things you do without thinking.....and not a coil pack in sight.
