Removing vRS Exhaust.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I plan to change my exhaust this weekend, but after having a look under the car just now, it looks like I will have to either remove the rear beam, or cut the exhaust into two sections :(

Is there any way to aviod either of these? I fancy retaining the exhaust so that if needed I can return the car to standard at a later date.

Cheers, Andrew

If your only worry is returning the car back to standard then it should be easy enough to clamp a sleeve to join the two halves when required, also make storage of the exhaust easier :) When I had mine done (turbo back) the exhaust was cut into 3 parts. hth

The usual way is to cut the pipe where the marks are, and then if you want to refit it, you just have to sleeve where you have cut it.

If you look where the exhaust goes over the rear beam their are 2 marks where you will need to cut so the the exhaust can be taken off and kept for future use.

cheers guys.

Ooh ooh. Let me know too.

I found the same thing when i looked under mine the other day how do they get them in in one piece? One thing i do want to know is how easy that subframe in the middle of the car is to remove

Presumably the exhaust is fitted before all the rear beam/suspension etc, as just one long pipe.

Cutting sounds like a fair option to remove it.

There is a small plate that is held to the floor pan by about 6 nuts - which looks like just a stone shield. Remove if required and then replace afterwards.

My old Audi 90 was like that - they cut off the original exhaust at 110,000 miles!! To fit a Powerflow :D

Well I now have access to the ramps at the local vaux dealership tomorrow (dad works there), so thats gonna make the job a lot easier!

Can also rotate the tyres and check the suspension etc too :D

Will let you know how it goes, and perhaps throw up a few fitting pics also ;)
