VW Diesel Kit Car

Featured Replies

Has anybody come across a diesel based kit car?

I would love one along the lines of an Elise with a kerb weight of less that 1,000Kg, with say a 200Bhp+ PD Engine in the rear and a pick of the best VW bits.:D

Aren't diesels a bit heavy for rear-mounting?

Tail-out slideyness?

Sounds like fun! Well that was only a daydream (or nightdream as I'm working nights) But probably wouldn't be a problem if its mounted in front of the rear wheels...Only two seat required anyway....

You'd think that, but the 1.9TDi is actually lighter than the 1.8T.

Is it really?

Yet the Octy with the 1.9TDi is heavier than the same Octy with a 1.8T

More soundproofing? I know the Elegance seems to have a huge quantity of it.

Check out practical performance car magazine. Theirs articals every few months about a caterham\westfield (cant remember which but its a super seven) build using a VAG 1.9 TDI.

No soundproofing on that, then!

wonder what a Fabia vRS would look like turned into a convertible?

Quick bit of work with a sawzall/plasma torch and a rollbar for peace of mind....

it's a westfield.

he's nearly ready to get the engine running.

cheers

Some one put a VW 1.9TDI in a K1 Attack before in America.

(still the best looking kitcar money can buy)
