  1. Hi all, Just wondering if it's possible to downgrade my firmware - I updated to 411 on my MIB1 Columbus and Canton but now there's an active static or analogue hiss when the radio is muted. I'm concerned the update could have done it - and whether downgrading might fix it. Thanks!
  2. So I don't think I'm out of the woods yet. I did not mention this to the other half whatsoever only for her to ask 'What is that noise?' when I had the radio muted. The fan wasn't going on the amp at the time - and she described it to me as what an open AUX sounds like on a stereo. Very analogue. The mib helper site says that upgrading the firmware on my columbus I might need a dataset as I have an external amp - albeit OEM. On OBDEleven byte11 is set to Sound_System_External_MOST - which I believe is the correct setting for the Canton. Anyone any suggestions? Reckon I might need someone with ODIS to load a dataset? Thanks again for your time and help.

  4. I think I've embarrassingly gotten to the root of this problem. I started snooping around today only to notice that the Canton AMP, under the passenger seat, had its fan on and was making the exact noise I was hearing. Will need to check more later - if this is the case I'm very happy. That said I'm wondering if the amp is starting to show its age by being so loud. Thank you all for your help.

  6. Looking at a few sites I've noticed the comment 'External amplifier (Bose, Bang&Olufsen) might need dataset after update' on the mib helper page - is this the 'reparameterization' I've heard about and would it apply? Any way to do this via OBDeleven - or is it a case of disconnecting the battery for a period and reconnecting?
  7. Hi all, I hope I haven't dug myself into an expensive hole so I'm hoping you can help - Earlier today I took it upon myself to install the latest firmware 0411 on my Columbus MIB1 with Canton. When returning to the car this evening I couldn't help but notice that, when muted or on a low volume, I can hear a static like 'hiss' sound. I don't know if it's related to the firmware; but after hearing this issue I scanned with OBDeleven and got the error 'B201A00: Checking software version management' which apparently relates to the Canton AMP - I followed the process on mib-helper and cleared it via OBDeleven and unfortunately, even though the car no longer reports any errors/issues on rescan, the hiss is still there. Is there something I need to do to readjust the Canton system given that I've updated the firmware? Can I even revert it back to what it was previously on? I literally have to turn off the radio to get the noise to stop. Thanks for your help as always guys - I'm pretty annoyed at myself and should not have gone near the system as errors/glitches were rare on it before this. @pab567 @varooom - would you have heard about this?
  8. Another question to Tell and others in the know - Having installed 0411 on my Columbus MIB1 with Canton I couldn't help but notice this evening that, when muted, I can hear a static like 'hiss' sound. I don't know if it's related to the firmware; but after hearing this issue I went about fixing the B201A error and cleared it via OBDeleven and unfortunately, even though the car no longer reports any errors/issues on rescan, the hiss is still there. Is there something I need to do to readjust the Canton system given that I've updated the firmware? I literally have to turn off the radio to get the noise to stop.
  9. Thank you for the update, Tell! Much appreciated. For my MIB 1 Columbus - are the maps shown on Skoda's update portal the most up to date or should I be getting them from mib-helper.com? Looking at the file names they both mention P350, so I'm hoping that means they're both the most up to date. On the firmware side I've updated my system to 411 and fortunately no errors; I was concerned as I especially had CANTON and apparently there can be issues regarding the external amp. I'm pleasantly surprised re: the maps. I thought VAG just stopped updating MIB1 platforms altogether a few years back. My street might actually be on the map now as opposed to a random field. Is there an ability to update the gracenote database on MIB1 High?
  10. Ok I'm a complete noob in this world - i) I have an MIB1 Columbus Model - is that the same as MIB1 High? ii) If so - does that mean we can still update our maps? I thought MIB1 was no longer supported since 2021/22.
  11. Hi all, I was giving the car's interior a once over and noticed that there's a nice, big rust spot on the 'chrome' surround of the cigarette lighter. Has anyone tried to fix this - can it even be replaced? Thanks as always for your help fellow briskoders!
  12. Hi all, My 2015 Octavia RS with red stitched flat bottom RS steering wheel with green lights has reached a point in its life where it's not only gone shiny but also starting to wear down from 180,000km of use. I've been trying to price up a new genuine wheel but am coming across all sorts of prices in the €400+ range. Does anyone know of a good site that sells wheels for a good price? Also - how much does a dealer charge these days? Will phone one on Monday when they're open but would appreciate your feedback/experiences! Thanks all!
  13. Hi all. As above, I have a manual MKIII VRS 2015 which was built in May 2015. I presume it's MY2015 as unfortunately I just missed out on the move to MIB1.5 and all the toys that come with it. I'm looking at buying a new steering wheel for it as the current one is shiny and, after years of maintenance, worn out due to my insisting on it maintaining that matte look ! Do any of my fellow patrons recommend anywhere in particular for a good price or is it better going to the dealer? I've seen before the dealer can be more competitive. The wheel is the usual - Flat bottomed RS wheel with red stitching and green lit steering wheel controls. No flappy as manual. Thinking that I'll stick on the new one, get the old one refurbished, and either sell it or hold onto as a nice little backup. Thanks all.
  14. Thank you all for the replies. What puzzles me is that I've only had the mount on the dash for less than three weeks. I took it off when I saw the complaints on an Audi forum only to discover I had it myself. I might go down the road of seeing if a little detailer might help as I've only ever cleaned the dashboard with a damp microfibre - might help tint out the circle. I have no doubt the soft foam under the dash has been 'crushed' by the suction cup and the inside 'pulled up' and I wonder is that why the heat of the hair dryer helped me re-shape it that little bit. It bugs the life out of me as it's something that's always in my field of view. Thanks again for the suggestions. Can't believe I did this.
  15. Hi all. I have a ring-shaped mark left on the dashboard after (stupidly) putting a suction mounted phone holder there. I've tried cleaning and I've also tried the hair dryer method read online. The hair dryer did help clear it up a little bit but I'm reluctant to try any more in case I cause damage. Kind of like this example below, but more obvious - Any experts on here who have been able to fix this type of thing? It's the soft touch plastic right in front of the grill in the middle of the dash so it's always visible! Hoping you can help and thanks in advance.
