Superskoda honeycomb grille

Featured Replies

has anyone bought the replacement honeycomb grille from superskoda.

if so what did you think of the quality and fit.

was it worth the money ?

i was thinking of getting one but £125 seems a lot for what it is.

i think oobster has one?

I do indeed. Quality seems absolutely fine, as does the fit. I was a bit nervous about cutting the bonnet release catch but it seems to have worked fine. If truth be told i'd have maybe left an extra inch or so if I was to do it again, as it's quite a reach for my stubby fat fingers to grip the release bit!

The other thing to consider depends on the colour of your car. Behind the grille is a section of the metal front panel of the car, and it's painted in the same colour as the body colour. So on a dark car (blue/black etc) then this won't be noticeable but on a white car it is quite easy to see and looks a little 'weird'. If it's still light outside when I leave work tonight i'll take a few pics and post them up.

I found the time to deliver from superskoda was very good but as you say it IS a little pricey, but it was worth it to me to get the top and bottom grilles matching.

Hay Oobster looks fantastic. I have one of those grills in my garage, need to make a point and get it fitted. Where in West Lothian are you? would like to see it up close up to get a better idea how much to cut form the catch, short stubby fingers too .

Who colour coded the grill surround, really sets the tone visually. :p

Looks great oobster! If you're not happy with the white bit showing can you not spray paint it black?

I will PM you Tmos, don't want to put my location up in case some wee scrote decides to nip round and relieve me of the car in the middle of the night!

I'll include my mobile number, more than happy for you (or anyone else locally) to have a look.

Stevie Walker in Bathgate done my grille surround, then I fitted it myself. Problem is, I got someone to wrap the grille surround in that paint protection film, and he's buggered it up (obviously heated the film in order to stretch it round, and he's heated up the paint so much he's 'pushed' the paint with his fingers leaving two big marks!) I have the other (original) grille surround in Stevie's place just now getting painted white, think he is charging me £35-£40.

Cheers! Yes, that is the plan, eventually, don't know whether to do it myself or get my local bodyshop to do it for me.

Thanks oobster. Know what you mean there some nasty little ******** out there. Only a few miles away, I will give you a call once you pm your number and we can arrange a meeting point.

Looks fantastic

Thanks for that bud, looks good! Just a thought, why not cover that visible piece with some black vinyl

Very nice

You did cut the lever opener for the hood, how is it now.

Manged to purchase some matt black vinyl at lunchtime today from a local signs company, so going to give this a try at the weekend if the weather is ok and see how it looks :D

Cheers! Aye I cut the bonnet release pull but as I said further up I should have maybe left another inch or so. I cut it according to the instructions that came with the superskoda grille but if there is any advice i'd give to anyone considering buying one it would be to leave a good 3cm more than the instructions state - you can always cut another smaller bit off, but it's difficult to add more on again!

I can still (just about) reach the stub of the lever, but it's a bit of a faff.

Has anyone fitted one of the honeycombe grille to a pre-facelift along with their honeycombe bottom grille? I want to buy them both but I'd like to see what they look like together on the pre-FL.

Thanks,

Dan

Just noticed the pre-facelift grille isn't available yet, so no one's going to have one! Have to wait until the end of April.

will this fit on a Pre - face lift model?
