Anybody had any experience with these guys? I'm looking into buying a car from them which would involve a 400 mile round trip (but for £900 saving, I'm game)

I'm buying an Urban from Lookers in Stockport (200 mls north of where I live) and despite assuring me that the car is in the country, was on the transporter on Weds and has a licence plate allocated, they eventually got back to me today (I've been trying to confirm it's location prior to getting the insurance etc. arranged.)

Despite assuring me that it was on the transporter on wednesday, they never confirmed arrival and I've just got off the phone to them and they seem to be unable to find out where the car is. Getting very nervous here...

Lookers are the reason why Skoda dealers are ranked number two and not number one.

I tried to buy a Citigo off them but they never called me back to arange the test drive I asked for.

I'm getting very mixed messages from them. The initial contact was fine and the negotiation went pretty smoothly.

My complaint with them at the moment is that they seem to have managed the delivery poorly and failed to keep me informed at all. I suspect the salesperson I'm dealing with doesn't work Thursdays but they shouldn't allow a single point failure (or absence) to delay the whole sale. As a result of whatever it is that's gone wrong, my car won't be ready for Monday and I won't find out when it will be ready until later on Monday (at the earliest). This could have been managed a lot more sympathetically if they'd just call me every now and then to keep me informed then I could have been a bit more sympathetic but as it is I'm nervous, getting fidgety and they've now offered to put a full tank of fuel in the car when I pick it up.

Oddly, every time I call to speak to the salesman, he's "with a customer". Is this place really that busy? (He then mails me shortly after, it's like he's trying to avoid me or something.)

Just back from them with my lovely new Yeti Urban. They missed the original delivery by a day but made up for it by putting in a full tank and giving a bunch of flowers for the mrs (accepted on her behalf by my 11 a year daughter who made the 200 mile trip with me)

Very pleased with the handover, the staff were friendly in person and I even had a chat with one of their managers before I left. I had a good chance to look round the car and wasn't rushed in any way. Went to buy some mats afterwards and the parts dept is hidden round he corner like a ginger stepchild. (Sorry, couldn't help myself).

Overall, minor hiccups along the way but a generally positive experience.

First service done at Lookers today on my Yeti. Friendly staff, job completed on time (plus warranty badge swap) while I went shopping. Only minor problem was that spare bulb set I'd ordered when booking the service hadn't arrived but I was assured it would be on the van tomorrow so no real hassle to pop back. They texted me to remind me of my service appointment and will text me again when they estimate my tyres will need replacing. Added bonus was that the price I paid was a good bit less than they had quoted. Overall a good experience and I'll definitely be using them again. A relief after my bad experience at Claybank - who's doors I will never darken again!

Took my superb in for its first service last week. I had arranged to wait while it was done so had booked a set time slot. The job took a little longer than planned as they also changed my badges and did a recall update on my electric seat. Even though I understood why they needed a extra half hour to do the work they insisted on knocking 10% off the service cost for my 'inconvieniance'!

The car was also washed and vac'd before i had it back.

great service, very pleased and will be using them again. Well done lookers!!

they also provided free coffee and wifi during my wait.

Bought the car off them easily enough but whenever you want to get through to the service department they don't seem to want to pick up. They are hopeless at keeping you informed.

Currently working on trying to get a warranty claim over corroded alloys its been 4 and a half weeks since they have taken pictures for Skoda UK and I've still not heard anything. Called in over a week ago and was told that they have not heard anything but that I should expect a call a couple of days later. Still not heard anything. Tried to ring today and has taken multiple attempts to speak to someone.

The mechanics are Renault as well. They had the car for a week with an erratic idle and after a week they decided that its normal and they all do it. True that may be but why does it take a week to establish that?

If the car you want is there in stock then buy it but don't bother going back! There must be better dealerships in the area.

I bought my citigo from here, long story but not very good. Ended up getting an en-route car instead of build, was told extras I ordered would be fitted at showroom. On day of pickup was told they couldnt fit them retro. Had no choice but to take the car as needed for work. Asked about my 3 year free servicing paperwork several times, eventually told Skoda deal with it and will be sent in post, still not heard anything. When you phone the salesmen is always with a customer or not at desk so will phone back, very rarely do. And this is in the week, I have been in there on a week day and it isnt busy, only maybe service desk.
Constantly pestered when buying the car that I would get a questionairre off Skoda to fill in and to please please please put excellent for everything, even the manager came over and mentioned it on two occasions.
I am sorry, but I will express my own opinions on a questionairre me thinks!!.
Attentive and nice whilst buying a car, but aftersales is crap!!.
Never again!!

Service dept at lookers is hopeless, don't call you to tell you the car is done, don't return numerous calls and could not diagnose a snotty nose never mind a fault with the car......I'll keep on taking it to Claybank, had 10 years of excellent service, only went to lookers because I did not have the time to travel the 12 miles to claybank....ended up costing me a lot more in wasted time!

I have just had my 1st service. I was very impressed, they sorted out a courtesy car very quickly, washed the car well. I also asked about the beeps that my car makes and the locking function. A guy came out with me along with his laptop, and went through a whole host of settings- changed my service setting from fixed to flexible which suits my mileage better.

He was very helpful indeed. He said that if I want anything else changing, just turn give them a ring and come after 5ish and he will go through it again.

Had a good chat about the new octavia too.

They also managed to get off some protective stickers that were left on the car from new (I was just too lazy to take it in and get it removed when I 1st noticed them). They have me an automated txt message at 4pm to say it was ready for me to collect at my convenience, I asked for it between 5-6pm.

All in all. A good service.
