  1. Weather was much improved today (and a very bright Moon) 😎
  2. What's the problem, mine seems easy enough to read, 2020 model, has it been changed?
  3. The noise from the engine area might just be the throttle body "sweeping" as in having been prompted to perform a "self cal" to establish its end stop voltages for reference, if not that one maybe the turbo. Normally that takes place after initially switching off the engine - so your car might be thinking that this fault is prompting a similar action. Checking the battery voltage would be a good thing to do, initially and while pushing that stalk forward. Many VW Group cars of this "size" and age have had stalk failure - by "many" I mean more than normally expected and experienced in earlier versions/marks of these cars.
  4. Reply to Whitedot Firstly, thanks for reading my post and welcome to Briskoda, I’m sure you’ll find it very helpful, just as I have done for several years. Next, your problems might not be caused by the stalk, when the stalk is pushed to the the “on” position for the rear wiper it sends a signal to the body control module (BCM) which then tells the wiper what to do, so the BCM might be faulty instead. The stalk is less expensive to replace though so it’s a better starting point. When the rear wiper switch is in the on position (intermittent) the BCM appears to be getting the signal to put the wiper into “wash wipe mode” (constant) but not to start the washer pump. Unfortunately I don’t know how to determine which part is causing the problem apart from a process of elimination, you could try the method I used to get mine working, it’s worth a go for the price of a can of WD40 (with the straw attachment) and ten minutes of your time. Good luck with it and don’t forget to let us all know when you’ve fixed it.
  5. This is my style but i prefer that grill cover also. These wont get that hot that you have to be worry about. Under +10 to +5 just use it. I think these are clever, if yo put heat on, example 20-21c deg inside it wont took all engine heat inside. If you use high blow and high temp that will slow down engine temp. I use allways temp 21-22C deg at winter and we have normal winter here -10 to -20 weeks and months.
  6. I did same for FL, no worries The difference is: preFL only DSG mode returns to Normal FL mode entirely returns to Normal For FL need a little bit more edits as described above

  8. well, don't trust blindly :) another topic about conversion - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/526316-how-to-guide-to-upgrade-mib2-to-mib25/
  9. It's a pretty simple process, you can see where there's oil on the dipstick or not. Now regarding check on a warm or cold engine, I always check when the engine is cold. You're then checking the level of oil that has settled back to the sump. I've always done this whatever the advice in the manual on every car, never, ever had any engine troubles.
  10. Hi, I'm out in vienna doing my husbandly duties so no physical progress. I have however got carried away with the creditcard while I’ve been here and bought a sonic cleaner and carb cleaning fluid and a **** load of parts for when i return. I did put a little oil on each bore and before i left (48hrs later) there was no movement in any. Realistically movement is going to be slow going due to work and xmas commitments but hopefully it will be sorted by new-year.

Many thanks for that and the other helpful comments. I did speak to one seemingly well informed attendant who said the VAGroup for post 2023 cars has had problems in house coding towbars in so who knows its all a bit confusing but I cant sit waiting indefinitely so wiil get something sorted. (and notify my insurers) Tks again

I would be very surprised if Skoda, or even VAG, produce their own towbar. My last towbar was a long time ago and my memory could be in error, but I have it in my mind that their towbars were actually made by Westfalia, the well-known manufacturer. Aldfort has it right. Go to a good independent - they the have the experience.
  13. We headed to Castleton after visiting the Dams...........
  14. Ran the gauntlet to Edinburgh the other day. Lasted an hour before bailing out. Just enough time to pick up a phone and some hifi cables which turned up this week after being messed about by three different hifi dealers. A few phone shots with my old phone before wrapping it up and giving it to swmbo for xmas🤣
  15. Annnnnd then after only two runs I contracted another respiratory virus. Had to have a clinical PCR test to find out, this time, I had 'Human pneumovirus' and the planned medical procedure deferred. Pretty fed up with just coughing and not running this year, to be honest.
