  1. Mine is the same as Yogi-Bears. I always have the "spiders web" of destinations display when I first turn on the ignition but a press of the Nav button (top right of my Amundsen unit) displays the map of current situation. No route is needed. Also the screen displays the Speed Limit for your location which is very useful at times whilst driving.
  2. I had a similar sounding problem last year with my car. It is a software problem that causes the SOS system to fail. You are getting the warning as you're effectively driving without the SOS system functioning. My car was taken in to do a software update which cured the problem. Audi have a similar problem as my son's girlfriends A3 had the same thing with her car.
  3. I tried the SkodaApp for my first two years which in principle seems like a very useful addition to the car. I think it only worked correctly for 50% of the time and was a total time waster if it wasn't working. I decided in the end to save my money and not renew the subscription, I seem to be managing OK without the hassle of a very unreliable service from Skoda.
  4. A short while ago I checked again and the "Update has Completed" message was showing. Fingers crossed there will be some improvements within the update. Time will tell!
  5. Another software update flagged up today. I've left it running for more than 30 minutes and it seems to be still downloading. It's showing "update in progress" but the circle to the left which normally shows a green portion is showing no green at all. Does anyone think this is an update that is destined to fail?
  6. I'm hoping that there are problems that they are aware of and work is being carried out to correct it. I had cause to try and use the "Hoot and Flash" on the app to locate my car at Gatwick airport. It took more than 5 minutes to communicate with the car and I'd actually found it when it started sounding the horn as I approached. I'm still getting problems downloading locations for my satnav, it's only works when it wants to! There are times when I agree with BoxerBoy's comment however they can only "fix" what they know about. Email the Customer Service dept regularly if you have a problem, they can pass on the the relevant department. Because of the years worth of problems I had reported they were kind enough to organise my 2nd years subscription free. With the problems I'm still experiencing I'll only continue into the 3rd year if they give it me!
  7. My car and the App work together in very much the same way as Doombar's. I have also just done a check after having unlocked the car. If you are aware of the problem it is easy enough to press the update button and be patient whilst the App communicates with your car. I have the App on my Android phone and have all permissions for the app enabled so it must be something Skoda need to correct within the Apps software. I would like to think that there are Skoda management or customer service people who monitor this forum and are aware of the problems we experience. However, I guess that the only real way of making them aware is to email with our problems. I have done this on a number of occasions and when I stated that I most likely wouldn't continue to use the App when my first year subscription ended one of the Customer Service Managers kindly offered my second year free of charge. So fingers crossed the Apps tech guys will be continuing their work to get it right.
  8. Billywizzo Do you have Breakdown and SOS in your car? I was told by Skoda customer service that the Esim continues to function so as to provide cover in case of Breakdown or accident, even if you've decided not to pay the annual subscription. I can't see that Skoda can put a term on the sim - it must operate for the life of the vehicle if the service is fitted to the vehicle. I'm presuming that the Esim also looks after updates for the Satnav but I might be wrong, perhaps someone can enlighten us.
  9. Our caravan weighs in at 1400kg and is easily pulled by our 1.5TSI though ours is a 5 seater with DSG gearbox. I use the Speed Limiter a lot as the car does tend to get a bit carried away! I don't think you will even notice a trailer weighing in at less than 750kg.
  10. Yes, it's the same in my car, I thought it was odd when I first noticed it. Hope you weren't late for your appointment but at least you're now aware of it.
  11. Four weeks have passed since my unit had the Software update and I was then able to send destinations and routes using the App from my phone to my car. Since then it has repeated this successfully on a number of occasions but I now find it has stopped working. The Skoda Connect App on my phone still works in it's other functions, showing me my car location, trip fuel consumption and mileage details, etc. so I know the phone and car are talking to each other. Have any other Skoda Connect app users found they are in the same situation?
  12. Some people may have already found this but I noticed yesterday that my MIB3 Amundsen was telling me there was a Software Update. This I completed very quickly and I now find I can download a route from the app to my car. I have managed to have one route download and my fingers are crossed that this is not another temporary fix. I now need to find out how I can monitor my downloads and find routs that have previously been downloaded. I understand this is one of the functions of the icon named Skoda Connect that is on the earlier Amundsen and Columbus units. Lets hope they have not stopped on improvements that can be made to the unit in our cars
  13. I noticed yesterday that my MIB3 Amundsen was telling me there was a Software Update. This I completed very quickly but disappointingly the missing icon has not yet appeared. The update has though corrected another problem as I now find I can download a route from the app to my car. I have managed to have one route download and my fingers are crossed that this is not another temporary fix. Now all I want is access to Skoda Connect via my unit so I may then check back on previous routes that I may have downloaded amongst other things. Patiently waiting again Skoda!!
  14. Within the settings options for the Satnav are an option for "Trailer Settings". This gives one option "Include trailer" and another for "Maximum speed for Trailers". I'm guessing the maximum speed setting is to allow the satnav to give me a better estimate of arrival time on a journey. The "Include trailer" option, I'm hoping will allow the satnav to set up a route for a journey and make some allowance for width restrictions. I know that caravaners purchase stand alone satnavs that are probably better at doing this but do you think I'm hoping for to much that our Skoda units might be able to cope with this? What is other people's experience with this?
  15. SimonB68 Thank you for the link to the "missing Icon" post. This is all very relevant to the problems we are experiencing in trying to send a route via the Skoda App to our cars. You made a comment which made me feel that you haven't attempted to plan a journey using the App. It would appear that anyone with a MIB3 unit is missing the icon and it is us who can't send a route to our cars unit. I am not inspired with confidence when I'm being told by Skoda Customer Relations to open an icon that they must be aware, isn't on my cars infotainment unit. I have made them aware via email so I guess I'll just have to wait for them to respond to it. I would be very surprised that there is no company representative monitoring this forum. If there is perhaps it would be a good place to update us instead of treating us like mushrooms!
  16. Following on from my previous post of April 7th Skoda customer relations have corresponded a number of times. Their latest suggestion was to open "Skoda Connect" on the Menu screen of the Amundsen unit. This has not been possible for me as, can be seen in the photos, I don't have that option. May be this is the cause of my problem. Do others have this option offered when they click on the Menu button? I've now also found that when I try to share a Google Map route to the Skoda App it opens up as a completely random address - the last one was somewhere in London. Does anyone successfully use this as a way of loading a route to the car?
  17. Are any MIB3 Amundsen currently able to download a route from their phone via the app? I spoke to soon, my successful download a week ago was my only route that I've been able to get to my Amundsen unit. Daily tests have looked like they've been successful according to the messages on the App but don't get downloaded to the unit in the car. Has anyone tried finding a route via Google Maps on the phone and sharing to the App? I found that it worked OK as far as showing on the App but not downloading to the car, now when I try it shows as a very random route starting from, maybe London or other places. I have today received the following email from Skoda Customer Relations:- Thank you for your email dated 29 March. I am sorry to hear that you was having issue with your MyŠKODA APP. I can advise that the app was down for maintenance and should be working again now. However, in relation to the MIB 3 system in your vehicle. I can advise that our factory are taking the feedback on board from all the customer’s and advised that they ate working on ways to improve the service. But there is no time-scale provided when this will happen. I look forward to hearing from you. The comment at the end, no time scale provided, is very worrying. I've assured him in my reply that I will be in contact on a regular basis to see how things are progressing. It'll be an interesting conversation when, in a years time, they want me to pay to use this!!
  18. Yes, very happy now. With Keith Owens assistance I was able to use the app now that it recognised my car. I loaded a "test" route and downloaded it from the phone last night. It showed up on the infotainment unit this morning. It offers 3 options - Cancel, Save or Show. Little bit annoying to have to give it a name again to save it as that's an option on the phone which I'd already done. But I suppose Skoda can't get it all right straight away. Perhaps the software writer is trying to keep himself (herself) in work by leaving a few improvements to add later on! One, thing to bare in mind though is that it takes a few minutes for the download to appear on the screen, I had already driven a mile or so before it showed.
  19. Thanks again. That was an easy fix, MySkoda App is now functioning. Now I will try sending a route to the car which hopefully will now be working. It'll be interesting to see how long I have to wait for Skoda Customer Service to get to me, I had an email yesterday morning saying that they were arranging for someone to assist!
  20. Thanks for responding to my problem. Do you mean that I should uninstall the app and then re-install it?
  21. Fingers crossed this is a sign that they may have corrected the problem. I'm still waiting to hear from them regarding my complaint a few weeks ago. I now have another complaint for them to sort out as the app on my phone has lost my car and won't allow me to re-register it. Hopefully they won't be to long and I can have another attempt at loading a route.
  22. I to have been trying to set a route using the MySkoda app. My car is a week old and I've been quite busy "playing" with the various options of the Infotainment. I assume that MySkoda has been loaded correctly on my phone as it seems to be talking to the car, displaying the state of the car security and what journey I may have done. Like tuttiweb, I have made up a route on the phone which then offered the button to load to the car. When I check the car it tells me there are no routes downloaded. Has this something to do with the fact that the app states I should be online to upload to the car? I recall seeing the Wifi option in "settings" but shied away from it as there was a message which said the eSim would be disconnected. My car is an SE with the optional Amundsen unit installed. I am beginning to feel that this is another thing that Skoda have played around with and messed up just like the entering of Postcodes which is not as good as my previous cars Amundsen unit.
  23. I pick up on what you say and ask the question. "WHY NOT"? How can Skoda have obviously redeveloped the Amundsen unit in the last couple of years and be fitting a unit which is not as good as it's predecessor in some ways? There are some features where they have improved it but it is little to ask for it to be an improvement on a 10 year old Garmin. I live in hopes that someone at a senior level within Skoda monitors this Forum and can therefore see the areas where we, the customers, would like to see improvements.
  24. "It's a Feature"!! Skoda's words or yours? As I said previously, my old Amundsen at least confirmed you were in the right direction by offering up the town. To just tell you that you are off road is a retrograde step. I have a old Garmin which when you put in a post code then asks for the house number and will take you right to the door step. Surely it's not much to ask for Skoda to provide us with something similar 10 years on. Perhaps they would do well to employ someone from one of the "proper" Satnav manufacturers.
  25. I am trying to adjust to and master the Amundsen Navigation in my 2021 Kodiaq SE. Entering an address is simple enough but there are times when only a postcode is available. I have been able to enter postcodes for the unit to find but all it tells me is that the location is "Off road" and the co-ordinates. I had an Amundsen in my 2019 Fabia Estate and when entering a postcode it was reassuring to see the town and post code shown, you at least knew you were headed in the right direction. If I check back to the map the marker only seems to be in the general area of the location. One would hope that in a couple of years, if there were to be changes they would be improvements. Do other peoples units work in the same way or am I not inputting things correctly?
