  1. I see. I suppose the switch could have failed again - they don't just work the brake lights but have connections going to the ECU as well. Other than that I'm not sure.
  2. Hmmm, I don't know then Has that light been on ever since you've had the car or only just come on?
  3. Umm, it says they found a solution in the post above yours. There is link to click on.
  4. Are the brake lights working? The glow plug light can come on if both brake bulbs have failed or the brake light switch is faulty. Having said that, it could just be on because your car is an electrical disaster area.
  5. Ah yes, I hadn't noticed that it was bypassing the fuse. So yeah, that's the red wire that's been cut and should be at fuse 8. Ah I see
  6. ^ And is that another yellow crimp connector hiding behind the Red/black wire?
  7. That yellow wire at position 5 (which is radiator fan full speed) has been messed with/added too...
  8. Well it's looking like someone has messed with the rad fan wiring.
  9. Position 8 should be radiator fan low speed. It should have a 30 amp (green) fuse.
  10. This is someone else's pic but mine went in the same place....
  11. If you end up needing a new clamping sleeve it's part number 1K0 253 141K
  12. Did mine on my MPI about six year ago. Wasn't too bad. Just used a grinder with a cutting wheel to chop the original system in half.
  13. Could you take a pic of this with the cover off to see which fuse that cut wire is going to?
  14. The two small wires from the alternator are DFM (load signal to ECU) and the other (blue) is concerned with correct alternator start-up and the battery light on the dash. There is a common location where they break at a plug connection near the gearbox... As for the rest of it, it's the worst thing ever when someone has been messing about with and butchering wires. Will have another look when not tired.
  15. No problem. Check the door wires inside the rubber bellows before you do anything else. Look carefully as the wire can even break inside the plastic insulation.
  16. I posted a video for you. I think he takes the glass out in the video but you don't have to remove it, you just tape it to the top of the door.
  17. Yes it's inside the door and the metal panel has to be removed. Not the trunk, I mean the wires inside the rubber bellows (trunking) between the body and drivers door.
  18. The lock unit inside the drivers door is notorious for failing with faulty microswitches or bad solder joints. Also check for broken wires inside the rubber door trunking, which is extremely common.
  19. Thanks Colin and team
  20. Yes that's exactly what I was thinking.
  21. If we lived closer I would help you.
