  1. High beam is a nice touch where it takes care of itself. It's on my RS and I just activate it before I move away and leave it. I still get the little wimps flash me because of my lights, even though they're auto and they dip themselves. Ultimately it depends on how much night/early morning driving you do will more or less dictate whether you're going to find it VFM. I used to be a train driver before retirement and I used to drive mostly either early mornings (0300-0500) or late shifts (1200-0200) so anything after 1600 was dusk or dark in the autumn/winter, so it was useful. Now I'm retired I don't do much night time driving, so its value has somewhat diminished, but it's still a very good thing to have as I don't have to constantly dip or raise my lights at night or twilight/dusk.
  2. I think you can make the jump from your current revision, but it may well be better to do it incrementally, first to 1941, 1969 then 1985, just to make sure that there's no unexpected glitches.
  3. You buy it and it puts an electronic licence on the car, just check it does what you want it to do before purchasing.
  4. When you get home install Skoda Connect app on your phone or visit https://www.skoda-connect.com/ on your tablet,PC,Mac and set up an account and you may be able to buy High Beam Assist amongst other things in the shop.
  5. I've not had any issues whatsoever with it bar 2 occasions when a software update by the dealer when awry, and the other was early on and it resolved itself. Sat Nav updates have always been timely and trouble free.
  6. Nope, My download stopped & restarted in conjunction with the running of the car & journeys, so it didn't take that long in reality, especially if you're in a 4G LTE or 5G area.
  7. Be patient, give it time, my OTA to 1985 didn't turn up quickly. I took two or three months if not more to arrive. I did have it on USB stick, but didn't need to use it in the end.
  8. Got a GW622, the picture quality is top notch, but do use an card that's designed for use with GoPro action cam or such like SanDisk Max Endurance which at the time of posting was £12 for a 64Gb, £30 for 128Gb or £55 for 256Gb card which are V30, Class 10 & U3 so ideal for the GW622 dashcams fast writing speed & large 4k files. The only let down is the naff viewing software the Nextbase Connect & Nextbase Player. Nextbase Connect takes ages to create a linkage between your phone & camera, camera output can only be read by Nextbase Player or VLC. I have the rear camera as well but I can't find anyone to install it for me as I don't have the knowhow to do it and I'm not mucking the car's interior up to do it. Will it save you in a crash or incident? Mixed results for me, Privilege are arguing with me & I'm threatening to go to the insurance ombudsman over one incident back in 2023, I have used it to file a couple of dangerous driving incidents to the police (driving the wrong way through a one way street and another with a pensioner going through a No Entry sign, ignoring the Keep Left sign & the wrong way around a traffic island and nearly having a head on with another car which resulted in the OAP losing his licence) & no I don't regret it! This comes from a retired train driver who was cautioned by the signaller & found an OAP with his car on the platform at Esher. https://www.surreycomet.co.uk/news/8429990.man-drives-car-on-to-esher-station-platform/
  9. You'll be quite surprised how quickly it downloads, I was parked near UniS in Guildford & it dowloaded several 100Mb in a matter of minutes.
  10. Yes you can make the move from 1941 to 1985. 🙂
  11. Via the shop on Skoda Connect I think.
  12. I know that. But AA is NOT part of the infotainment system directly.
  13. That's the infortainment system firmware revision number.
  14. Is Android Auto built into the infotainment system? I haven't seen it. Smartlink is there, but as far as I know Android Auto is a phone app, based within an Android smartphones archtecture, and it's currently on 13.3.644654 updated early December '24. Smartlink is the the interface software on the car, that provides the linkage between the two. If you have Smartlink, you can link your phone to your car.
  15. Sorry I've not come across this. Someone who is more technically minded might be able to assist you further.
  16. I find that I can get high 40s or even low 50s on long runs with the RS, but I have to be a good boy to get into the 50s, but 45 - 48 on a trip to West Somerset isn't uncommon though which for a 2.0 DSG isn't bad.
  17. That's the engineering menu. That's saying it has 1941 installed on it. If that's correct then in theory, in a while you should get an OTA download notification saying that the system will automatically download 1985, you can either wait for it to "help itself" via OTA or have a look in the threads regarding 1985 and see if it's still available for download from a generous member of the board.
  18. You need to find out what software revision you currently have first and that's found in the system information tab which is in the settings menu.
  19. Mine hasn't worked properly ever since I've had it. So as it has had 4 software updates/revisions installed and it makes no difference I think that it's hardware related rather than software.
  20. The only thing that I still can't quite find is the tweak for Waze to appear as it used to, more often than not it's now full screen. Just wish it would appear on the dashboard instead.
  21. OBD11 is probably your best alternative bet if you're confident in what with VCDS does. But it does come with variations, so you'd better check out which version would suit your needs.
  22. I'm running Android 14, I'm expecting 15 early in the NY. I'll be changing my phone to an S25 Ultra next year if HMRC and stock market doesn't bankrupt me first. So it'll be interesting to see what happens when with that.
  23. You can often find them a bit cheaper than on the Thermos site, Amazon or Ebay for example. But they're excellent and keep it very hot for a good 6 hours
  24. No, not AA, I mean the phones OS. I think that the latest version of Android is v.14 or 15. There's also settings within Waze you can tinker with too.
  25. Not tried it yet, will tomorrow. But sometimes it seems to change between different marques of phone & derivatives of Android the current version being v.14 or 15.
