  1. If I remember next time I use the car. I'll see if I remember to do it.
  2. I picked up on it within a matter of few seconds, they're icons in the settings section and slightly sharper in definition
  3. Mine has stopped doing it, now sharper graphics icons, and some minor differences. However I also bought the Remote Connect, Traffication & Infotainment (SatNav) updates at a cost of £84.50 and everything is now stable and the system hasn't asked for anymore updates.
  4. Because that's a new version of the infotainment system, so I'd leave it alone. Also I don't think that the 1989 is compatible with it either, so the old adage of "If it ain't broke don't fix!" applies.
  5. It needs to be on a freshly formatted USB stick with nothing else present, your screenshot suggests that it's in a partition of a USB HDD or SSD, which probably won't work due to power draw constraints. Put it on a USB stick. TBQH I don't use the on board system as it has taken me off course and the licence for it has expired. I use Waze or Google Maps as they tend to be better and more responsive.
  6. It doesn't always guarantee a successful claim, should something happen. I got a phone call this morning from Privilege telling me that after a legal battle I won the claim I had against the driver of a Ferrari, which side swiped me and that I will be getting a cheque through the post. But even though I had submitted my dashcam footage of the driver of the Ferrari being on the road and not being taxed (Declared SORN), I've had to wait 2 years nearly for anything to happen, in fact at one stage it was declared my fault! The footage is as clear as a bell and it proved that the driver never indicated and I wasn't at fault! So for me my GW622 is a mixed blessing in this respect. I have used it to remove one OAP from the roads, after indicating to go around a corner, then pulling up without notice, then nearly hitting me as I went around him as he restarted, then when he got to the A25 Silent Pool junction, went around the wrong side of a traffic island and straight through a No Entry sign and nearly having a head on with a car coming off the A25 into the A248!
  7. If you can afford it the NextBase GW622 is very good, but be aware that the latest NextBase cameras rely on a subscription. If you have deep pockets then Viofo 329 series are apparently very, very good, but you're talking in excess of £300 for the higher end models.
  8. I'm looking elsewhere for a car, an RS is now above £40k which puts in in the £640 pa VED bracket, so it's time to find something that has a bit of grunt, but isn't so expensive to insure or "tax", I don't have any family left now, so I don't need a big car anymore, so was looking at a Polo GTi or may even drop down to a Toyota Corolla or Qashqui, which will be cheaper to insure & "tax". The other one to look at is the Audi A3. But in regard to the infotainment system, I think that a lot of manufacturers have gone touch screen route for controls unfortunately as it's cheaper to implement as they're not using "mechanical" switches which have a finite lifespan. So I don't really know where to look when it comes to replacement, I'd rather stay in the VWG fold, but if I can't find what I like then I'll look at another marque.
  9. I was just making a point that the starting point for an RS is now over the threshold for luxury car tax, the Royal Green, Water World Green & Space Violet are £855 options so just add to the agony. For me the price is £45k with options. No. Not happening.
  10. That doesn't happen as it's the P11D price with the options included that trigger it, for my RS it would be £43k. So it's not happening.
  11. And who put the £40k luxury car tax in. A new RS is over £40k before adding any options, so it attracts a £640 pa VED charge. And as I don't really need a big car anymore as both of my parents & dogs have now died, I'm on my own and I only do longer journeys 4 times a year now, I can do without a larger car. So I'm thinking about the Fabia 130.
  12. I love it but I won't be having another Octy, they're too expensive and also I don't need a big car anymore. That [censored] in No.11 has killed off any plans for another RS. So a Fabia 130 maybe in order, but not enamoured by the limited colours!
  13. Over the 3 year that I've had my RS, I've had 3 windscreens done. 2 by stone chips both in the line of vision and needed to be replaced, I'm on my 3rd now, but the OEM one & it's replacement were described as low quality, this one has been much better quality I think it's made by a French company. I think its Saint Gobain.
  14. Mine did the update the other day and it's a MY23 RS, it downloaded it quickly as I was near UniS in Guildford and it updated without any further interventions or hassles, no need to do a factory reset or anything. It then did a set of 6 additional updates the next time it started and they all went in uneventfully and all fine and good so far.
  15. I'm dreading it, my car was showing the download screen when I opened it this afternoon, like an idiot I pressed accept it. I have no idea what to expect when I go out tomorrow or Sunday and if there are any issues how to correct them.
  16. I had problems after the dealer did multiple software updates and the car needed a new ECU, which they programmed for a diesel rather than petrol, once that was resolved the car was put on test for a day and has been pretty much faultless ever since, the only glitches are in the infotainment system. My previous car was a software nightmare flagging up oil sensor failures and all sorts of stuff. In the end they rigged up a new wiring harness to eliminate the issues.
  17. Sorry I don't come here that often now. Some people have made the transition from an 18xx to 1941 or even 1985 in one hop, although I'd tend to think that it might carry a slight risk of bricking the system. However if in doubt do it in two steps and go from 1810 to 1941, then 1941 to 1985. If you don't feel confident about attempting this yourself then get a dealer or Skoda independent to do it for you for about £150.
  18. As you have to pay for it now if you're doing OTA, I don't bother I find Waze is far superior to the built-in system by a long way, even a Garmin or Tom Tom PND is better.
  19. Is this suede? Because you can get specialised suede cleaners from B&Q amongst others, otherwise try a mixture of white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda and water.
  20. I hope there's a future revision that will do so. They're always tweaking things following feedback & error reports.
  21. I'd like to think that the next revision will allow Waze to appear on the cockpit display instead of the inbuilt system maps.
  22. I filled mine up with Momentum 99 in Minehead on June 8th and I was very disappointed with the expected range on that, it was showing 340 miles, and it didn't last that at all despite cruising up the A303 & M3 at around 75 where it was clear and whilst it did go up to 370 for a while, it did seem to drop away very quickly even though most of my driving that week back at home was on dual carriageways and faster A roads. I get better consumption with standard 95 & a shot of EcoMax in the tank.
  23. Go to Euro Car Parts and enter your cars registration. It will tell you what oil to get. I bought a 1ltr of oil for topping up purposes for about £10, after I noticed it was getting low last time and popped about ⅓ ltr of the existing bottle in last time, which put the oil level right to the top of the indicator. Halfords is expensive unless they are doing deals or you can find voucher codes. Or are absolutely desperate, also try getting fuel apps as they often have special offers for oils/lubricants.
  24. TBQH it's ideal for a track day car, but for real world driving it's simply asking for trouble in that it would attract all of the wrong sort of attention (Police, Insurers, Thieves), but it would run into problems with a lot of roads with speed humps/ramps in them as some are quite high so it would possibly ground on those. Then there's the thorny issue of parking in a car park, particularly multi-storey ones with all of those narrow spaces & concrete pillars. It looks nice as a concept but for real world use it's flawed. And as someone who's approaching 60 I'm not quite in the definition of pipe, cap & cardigan brigade, I'm still in the floor it once in a while brigade who doesn't tolerate ditherers, dawdlers and late indicators.
