  1. So couple of weeks ago our Citigo ASG had its 40,000mile service. Yes its only 2.5years old but being such a good fun car to drive the miles just keep adding up. The previous 3 services had been FREE from Skoda as part the original Citigo purchase so i hadn't thought too much about the running costs until now. Noticing the 40,000miles was approaching quickly I had a telephone round to obtain prices and booking in dates The two Skoda dealers (Ipswich & Norwich) came back with identical prices £269.00 (major service .... spark plus, filters etc...) which is based on 3+year old Citigo menu service. On this occasion we decided to use Norwich as our diaries were better suited booking in date than what was offered by Ipswich.... For the previous 3 services Ipswich had been excellent, but the important bit is Norwich realised they hadn't seen our Citigo before and the service was even better.... they even paid for TAXI to take us to the city and back as their service driver was unwell. On returning we paid the £269 which was as quoted. Also they agreed one of the front lights was suffering from condensation and will be replaced under warranty in January 2017. That makes it only 2 warranty claims in 2.5 years and 40,000miles...... rather amazing really! The first claim being the radio booster which failed. Can we point out the Citigo is still on its original tyres and brake pads with plenty of life left in both Roll on the 50,000miles service
  2. No we go without trims when on the winter black steel wheel & tyre setup. I agree the plastic trims so look cheesy and the option to go without can make our citigo look more urban :) Pleased you got it all sorted, would you be able to put some before and after pictures on here?
  3. I can understand your disappointment if you had your heart set on the black alloys............ personally i think black alloys look like our Citigo winter wheel setup unless they are kept super clean. If it was myself in your position i would request a further discount of say £250 from the price which is more than enough to have the wheels re-painted (i prefer powder coating as its the whole wheel)......... most car makers only paint the outside of the rim Goodluck, enjoy the citigo!!!
  4. 588.8miles looks superb!! But i would like to see the PID photo of its data for that attempt. When i originally asked about 500+ tanks miles this was being performed in ASG model....... I also was providing much more data in the attempts which illustrated the amount of litres being put in the citigo on each attempt......... also i proved ours could put well more than 35litres in the tank. Out of interest here is my best range (altough not in citigo)
  5. my first 3 services were free
  6. I would suggest looking at the suspension, most greentech models of the citigo have been installed (from factory) with a more lowered suspension. Our ASG is with the more comfy setup as the engine isn't greentech. It was an option to install the lowered suspension but we are pleased we didnt. Instead we went for the Alloy wheel upgrade from 14" to 15", we have never had any issues with ride comfort. In the winter we swap to 14" winter wheel and tyre setup and again no isues
  7. You need to make sure the experience you are having is in formal letters, the dealer will most probably not reply but you will have issued a statement of fact. If it was me, i would leave the car with them, provide them 14days to cure all the faults you have reported, but make it clear if after the 14days the faults are not fixed or re-appear you will return the car and expect a full refund as its not 'fit for purpose'. They will try to give you an alternative car while they repair, if you are able to decline this, it makes their position harder and for them to work smarter to make the required repairs otherwise they will be able to illustrate they need more time and you use their car. I would also make sure Skoda uk are cc into every letter issued.
  8. Although I do have smart phone............ many many people do not. My point is should these people be penalised because they dont? The demographics of Skoda owners although varied, in terms of aged is known to attached the clever buyer which in terms of this post usually indicated a 'mature' buyer The PID was shocking for the Bluetooth speaker while on the move, but its actually function of touch screen was sized correctly and very easy to use. Maybe its different in other parts of Europe?!
  9. The radio reception is to do with the Ariel booster, our was replaced 18months ago (which failed 4 months after delivery) and its been fine
  10. losing the PID from the citigo (even as an option) is an own goal by Skoda. The majority of their customer base will not have smart mobile phone I'm guessing TomTom licence was more attractive than the garmin?!
  11. you must be brave looking at the smart forfour manual, personally i find the pedal arrangement far too close to the centre console......... so there is no left foot arrangment (obviously this is removed with auto choice). Engine wise I would only consider the turbo in either the forfour or twingo. Sensible money would be on the Fabia if Skoda throw gold at you to keep you one of their customers Have you considered the new UP! TSi?
  12. With the recent negative VAG press i think you are right, VW are surely looking to make higher profit margins from its VW brand and by offering specific engine only to certain models it breaks up the choice and thus locks in profit per sale which is higher. I still think Skoda have the option of the turbo engine, but does it fit in with their brand values and image?!
  13. I think this was expected and if Skoda do the same will only be in the SE-L model with the turbo engine. worth a read http://www.evo.co.uk/volkswagen/up/17405/turbocharged-volkswagen-up-goes-on-sale-from-12055
  14. Autocar expect the GTi to be 113bhp (115ps) in the UP!....... i do have doubts that Skoda will not get much more than the 89bhp (90ps), actually it wouldn't surprise me that SEAT get the GTi in FR version to support the dwindling sales of the Mii Worth considering the other talent which is already in the market place (or about too): Renault Twingo GT 0.9 109bhp Smart Forfour Brabus 0.9 109bhp Ford Fiesta 1.0 138bhp Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 113bhp
  15. http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/volkswagen/up/first-drives/2016-volkswagen-10-tsi-review looks like my prediction is correct Volkswagen Up Beats 1.0 TSI Location Italy; On sale July; Price £13,000 (est); Engine 3 cyls, 999cc, turbo, petrol; Power 89bhp; Torque 118Ib ft at 1500-3500rpm; Gearbox 5-spd manual; Kerb weight na; Top speed 115mph; 0-62mph9.9sec; Economy 64.2mpg (combined); CO2/tax band 101g/km, 17% If the 1.0T can be got with the ASG (or dsg) then it would make a fine car IMHO..... the oomph is all thats missing from our 1.0NA Citigo
  16. So our Citigo ASG has now just had its 30,000mile service since we purchased it just over 2 years ago. Faults to date? 1 daylight running bulb which had failed Warranty claims to date? 1 radio booster And how much have we spent on the servicing of the citigo in the 30,000miles.......... £NIL as we took the 0% finance which gave this added extra. Worth noting that all the tyres are on 5mm (but this maybe assisted by the winter tyres we used for 4 months) So owning a Citigo is painless as an ownership proposition from our point of view. The dealer is excellent and always gets top score on the surveys that skoda issue out. It's worth pointing out that it feels as screwed together as the day we picked it up ! :sun:
  17. We have citigo elegance ASG 5 door from 2014, it is super! No problems My advice is do not take the sports suspension, the normal suspension is much more comfortable
  18. 30,000miles in 2 years in our Citigo ASG. Servicing costs = £NIL Warranty claims = one ..... the radio booster replacment
  19. My order for the GTi is waiting once there is some more details on the launch date.......... there has been so much hearsay for what feels a decade on the 1.0T engine in the UP! The price these days is misleading as most people will be purchasing on PCP monthly payment. This will be assisted by how good small VW GTi residual values actually are in the market place. Suggest people looking what 15year old (with 120,000miles) Lupo GTi value is now is around £3k+, It would also appear the prime used cars are £8k............... in its day it was a c£12k GTi new. For me it would be VW Up! GTi 5door, with sunroof and the 7 speed DSG gearbox There are also rumours REVO can get the 1.0T engine to c150bhp.................... if the 1.0T ever gets into the citigo i can see it only in 90bhp form most probably one the SE-L
  20. As we have now had our ASG for the last 2 years I will try to answer the questions posed To drive I find the gearbox fun & dynamic in its ratios........ and as i have written in many other posts its a gearbox where the driver (who enjoys driving) needs to understand the technology and how to get the best out of it for the drive of the Citigo. Most people are really used to a mechanical automatic box, driving this type of automatic dosnt take any great deal of skill and the usability has been around since finding electricity. Yes there are the dual clutch automatic (such as dsg) which are very refined and most probably at the cutting edge....... but IMHO if you are not putting out in excess of 200bhp then these gearboxes are slightly wasted on the average joe. So an ASG gearbox is not Satan , its a perception that it has to be a DSG or dual clutch gearbox.......... when it clearly inst and as explained it robotised gearbox and it has its purpose considering its main application of being city car etc.... Annoyances?! Yes 3rd could do with a few more rpm, the change from say reverse to drive needs to be considered and a couple of seconds wait....... but to a DSG owner this would feel like lunar rotations :peek: If you specify your citigo with the ASG gearbox i would suggest you make sure you have the standard (not greentech or sports suspension) as the drive is much more graceful over our not so great UK roads....... at the end of the day the citigo is a good steer so the trade off is worth doing Good luck
  21. I was under the impression that the 3rd (30k) service was the largest as that's when filters seem to get changed?! Like some others have pointed out above the 3 years 30k servicing which skoda offered seems very well worth taking up at the time.
  22. Have look at the stats on the first post and you can see I used our ASG at the time as daily driver while i was waiting to collect my 313ps diesel saloon. The citigo ASG is very capable car and if selected with standard suspension is relatively comfy on long journeys, i find the gearing is great when cruising it will stay in 5th and dip to 4th if required......... I am also a fan of the 5 door arrangement :sun: In hindsight i would have ticket the sunroof option as our friend has it on the UP! and its really nice option
  23. First of all congratulations on obtaining the 500+miles from a tank of fuel, my only observation is that you must have been on a quest to 'eek' out the mileage and i expect this is a manual gearbox Citigo and you were driving miss daisy  I've looked at your fuel receipts data: 15/01/2016 - 437.5 miles from 33.88litres = 58.7mpg 17/02/2016 - no mileage from 32.80litres = unknown 02/03/2016 - 477.8 miles from 34.55litres = 62.86mpg 18/03/2016 - 478.9 miles from 33.50litres = 64.99mpg 07/04/2016 - 464.4 miles from 33.40litres = 63.10mpg 26/04/2016 - 467.3 miles from 32.57litres = 65.2mpg 18/05/2016 - 515.8 miles from 35.27litres = 66.48mpg Understand you don't have the PID but in reality are only doing c220miles per week .......... if we said you used the citigo for 2 hours day this would give you an average speed on around 15mph :peek: . At these speeds I would expect 500+miles to be very easily achievable. Our ASG average was 35mph which is more realistic to faster road driving I can only advise you look at fuelly.com and track you mileage performance from that website, its much more organised and helps you track data.
  24. This was one of the main reasons why when ticking the boxes of our Citigo Elegance ASG we passed on the 'sports suspension' option. On the more comfortable settings the car is fantastic to dive over the rubbish UK roads we seem to have these days What we decided to do was upgrade to the 15" alloys so it looked more sporty but the suspension height is unnoticeable compared to sports or greetech. On winter tyres 14" the ride is even more comfy.
