Right, thought I'd check in and see what was going on! Toxic, are you still going to Combe? I saw you posted your tickets for sale. Copey, you are joining at Corley services with DannyP, correct? R1CH360, you are also joining at Corley services, with Copey and DannyP, correct? Shall we agree to meet at Hopwood Park about 7:15-7-20am? If Toxic is coming we can meet him at Strencham Services.

Thread revival! (OK not an epic one) I had a leak on the blue Fiesta resulting in a very wet passenger foot well. Yesterday I took off the scuttle panel, cleared out all the rubbish from the scuttle drain and resealed the seal between the scuttle panel and windscreen, which had failed. We had lots of rain last night and the foot well wasn't any wetter so I think I've fixed it. However today, we went out in said Fiesta, within 500 yards the GF said it didn't sound right. Sure enough it was misfiring! Turns out I'd be over exuberant with the hose pipe when finding the source of the leak, and there was water around the spark plugs :( Anyway, having dried the water up, it is now back to working happily

What am I doing up this late? Currently waiting for the girlfriend to get back to the school she works at from a school trip and bring her home! -

Looks like on the second picture, part of the dust shield or ball joint heat shield has been rubbing on the disc where the groove is. When you replace the discs, I'd make sure that nothing is rubbing on them. -
I'll stand to be corrected, but I think I have seen other oils that are acceptable, they just have to meet the 507.00 standards

I have nothing constructive to say other than the numberplate nicely fits with your username -

My ticket was waiting for me under the letter box too! Many thanks for organising -
What's happening: Other than what has been posted - not much! Haha Copey, where/when were you thinking of joining? If Toxic is joining at Strencham Services at about 7:45am that's cool by me

Do a back handed compliment 'Many years ago you can tell how much space is left'. If she is anything like the gf she will take the age related part badly

Very tempted! But I'll pass for now. If it helps, I'll be at Combe and live in Whitchurch, North Shropshire so I could help someone out maybe? -
Mist From Rear While Accelerating Update/Issue
meb90 replied to sturgi's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Agreed, I'll keep a watch on levels! Turbo failure isn't something I fancy experiencing!! Next time I'm on a dual carriageway/motorway I'll see if it mists then -
Mist From Rear While Accelerating Update/Issue
meb90 replied to sturgi's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Do we think this is a petrol only issue? I've got a 2014 VRS diesel, which often produces a white mist when accelerating. But it is more pronounced on colder days. I know its water because it condensates on the rear screen! I'm pretty sure it isn't loosing coolant though. -
I hope you don't mind, but I've taken the liberty to save one or two of your pictures, because that is one of the best MK1 Octavia's I've seen!

At last, some pictures of the Green Machine for you
meb90 replied to VRS_Dan's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Very nice! I agree on the colour being a good one, mine is the same -
Its not a difficult job! I managed it If you've got a diesel the most difficult part is the screws on top of the trim piece as the bumper gets slightly in the way. If you've got the petrol, its both sides. But it is perfectly doable

Hmm, somehow I missed this too! Not sure how. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any further meet, and any of your updates Ant.

Driving through town on my way home. Some older man decides that as the road was clear on one side of the road (mine - before I got there) he can start walking across, but as the other lane wasn't clear he decides to stop in my lane and wait for a gap. All this 20 yards from a zebra crossing!!
-
Pah! I waited 5 months for mine from ordering :P

Got home today after a busy frustrating day at work to find the girlfriend had cooked steak and chips!! Very yummy it was too

The VRS comes with multi link suspension, regardless of fuel. I can't help with which springs to go for, I'm sure I've seen good reviews for both. I'm tempted to lower mine, if I do I'll use the Eibach's I think.

Saw this at Ultimate Dubs at the weekend, I don't think you were around, but the car looked very good. In many ways I preferred it to the rows of cars slammed to the floor.

Maybe one day I'll try it to see the difference! Mine lives in sport mode too - I prefer the quicker throttle response. In eco mode for me it would overshoot as you need to hold more throttle to get the same response. But despite being in sport mode, I'm still averaging 52mpg so it can't be that bad!!
-
Good point, yes a DSG would. I didn't consider the gearbox!
-
As far as I'm aware the mode makes no difference to the power available, just the throttle response. So you could accelerate just as fast in eco as sport, but you'd have to press the pedal further. It's 62 mph because the Europeans test 0-100 kph, which is 62 mph.
