  1. I assume you've both pressed the button, and held it? Surely having held the button and got it to say that the traction control and ESC are off, things are off enough? I can't help you though if this isn't the case!
  2. I thought I’d add to my quick response earlier. I personally can’t see the issue of you both eloping, you both are happy with the idea. The fact her parents are happy is a benefit in my eyes. I understand it is different strokes for different folks though, I wouldn’t elope. Surely the most important thing for your mother is that you are happy? I assume you have explained to her why you are considering eloping and that you don’t want all the attention of a more conventional wedding. You could do a small ‘do’ but not go down the normal route of what a wedding should be. I don’t know what this could be though. I’ve got a sort of similar problem myself, I have been with my girlfriend nearly 4 years, and so occasionally getting married comes up. However, my mother recently retrained as a registrar. So she has made it clear to my sister (slightly younger – I’ll be married first) and I that she would like to conduct the wedding ceremony. I personally am not convinced I like the idea, but I think that to say no would cause more trouble than it’d be worth. So I get that it is a difficult decision, certainly more difficult than mine, but I’d think you have to do what is right for you. I’m sure your mother would forgive you in time. PS I mentioned getting her to pay for the wedding, as I know someone who's Dad wanted some extra people at his wedding. The farther was told that if he wanted them there, he'd have to pay for them - he did!
  3. Get your mother to pay for a 'normal' wedding then!
  4. It is definitely cats, I saw them this morning, and found a 'deposit' when I got home. I've had a look at the gel balls - they look interesting and fairly cheap too. I personally like the idea of the hose powered water sprayers. There are some great ideas though! Talking of guns - I did try with a Nerf gun the other weekend. My thinking being that I would be unlikely to hurt them (even if I did hit them). They were definitely scared away once they realised what was happening, but it turns out I couldn't hit a sheep in the garden, never mind a cat!!
  5. Some interesting ideas! Some I hadn't heard of. If I try all of them together, I wonder if that cats will be completely bamboozled and then deterred
  6. Haha, I hadn't thought about electric wire/fence type ideas. Unfortunately I feel this comes into the harm section. The urine idea is one I'd heard of, I suppose its free so would be worth a go!
  7. Thanks all for the advise so far! I'm not about to shot the cats, as I think that's going a bit too far. I've looked at some of the ultrasonic scarers and like the idea, but as you say some cats are deaf. I think the water spraying type look good - all cats will be deterred A dog isn't an option either! I now know it is cats as I saw them this morning, not sure why no poo has been found. I do know what it smells like as they have been using another part of the garden. As an experiment, I'm going to buy some pepper on my way home tonight and see if that has an affect as it is a fairly cheap method.
  8. Hello all, I am after some help. I have just finished making a raised bed in the garden, and I have noticed that the local cats have started digging in it. I'd like to stop them doing this, as they annoy me - they annoyed me before, but I really dislike them digging up the garden. Fortunately I haven't found any cat poo yet. So, please can I have answers on a postcard before I get drastic with the tuna and antifreeze*? One slight note - I know you can get movement sensors that let off a noise that cats can hear, but does anyone have any positive experience of these? Also, SWMBO has two rabbits, which I'd prefer not to annoy. Thanks * Please note - this is a joke! I have no intention of killing or causing harm to the cats.
  9. I've never used anything else, but I have used Power Maxed Rain Off Glass Sealant which I have found to be very good.
  10. My long term average over 34,000 miles is a smidge over 52mpg. But I've had several journeys above 60mpg, nearly 65mpg. Usually on my way to work, which is A roads so usually 50-60mph, but if I get caught behind a lorry, 15 miles at 40mph in 5th does wonders for your mpg figure!
  11. You aren't allowed to start a for sale advert if you aren't a freedom member
  12. While a regen causes an idle of 1000rpm, an idle of 1000rpm doesn't mean it is doing a regen. You say it hadn't moved for two days, maybe the battery voltage dropped and it was recharging it. Did you have the heating on? I bet that could make it idle quicker to produce more hear for the cabin.
  13. Just caught up with this thread, so I thought I'd share a picture of my bikes For the road I've got a Viking Roma, which is the second one I've owned (the first got written off crashing into a car). It wasn't particularly expensive but I like it and it works well. For off the road I've got a Specialized Hardrock Pro, which is also good fun.
  14. Both number plates on my 2014 VRS are held on with screws, so unless they have since deleted them they should be there.
  15. Mine does this occasionally, but its very rare. But other members have been reporting them more frequently.
  16. It depends what it is doing. If it is an occasional hiccup for a split second at low throttle then its has been mentioned before. Mine does it too, and it has been explained as an emissions based oddity. If it is a real flat spot then it is probably an issue, and the boost sensor comments above are probably right. Probably worth a trip to the dealer.
  17. Profile says Cheshire. I found it on eBay which says Darrell is in Runcorn (still Cheshire )
  18. What is the excess mileage charge? Its probably around 7p per mile, which would mean you'd get charged £189 for going over. Hardly going to break the bank in my eyes As said it depends what you do at the end of term, the dealer may choose to ignore it.
  19. Today was yet another tailgater who thought that the safe stopping distance from 30, 40, and 50 mph was 5 feet. I was very tempted to brake firmly, but I decided that as we were in a long queue of traffic it'd probably cause chaos. Also she'd almost certainly run into me and I didn't fancy dealing with the paperwork. So I took to leaving a big gap to the car in front of me.
  20. Thanks for the tips, I think it looks good, so I may have a go at being a copy cat!
