Insuring a Skoda Felicia proved a nightmare.
EUROINS 284 € per year with MONDIAL road assistantance included. Does your car have airbag? You are paying for 4000 euro compensation but you will never get this amount, the maximum is 2000 euro for Felicia so you pay a higher fee without a reason.

Kill Switch in a Skoda Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanThe ''easy'' of ''difficult'' is not an issue for me, the electrician will do the job, i care more about ''the most efficient'' way. So based on the diagram from the manufacturer of that remote kill switch and your advice we have this?

Kill Switch in a Skoda Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanSo where is the better place for cutting a wire and interfere that switch? Is that going to create an error code? I know that interrupting the cam sensor signal (without disconnecting the battery) definitely creates problems after a while.

Felicia 1.9 D completely dead after rain
The water is sneaky, here was the ''entry point" (yellow arrow) from my tailgate seal, from there was rolling down to to point above the rear light and the (as the video showed) was dripping inside the trunk. In the beginning i thought that the culprit was the seal of the rear light (blue arrow) but my mechanics manage to find the real cause. One was outside with water hose and the other was inside the trunk with flash light and cellphone ready to record the drops. The @youone problem is in front and i think must make an inspection to his front wind shield seal, time-sun-salt etc are enemies of sealing.

Felicia 1.9 D completely dead after rain
Here was my problem with my tailgate gasket, 3 times made my trunk carpet full wet and cause me a great headache. I fix it in the best technician here for windshields etc. Cleaning, isopropyl alcohol, compressed air, wiping and expensine sealant apply. Since then " case closed".

Kill Switch in a Skoda Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanThat's why i do not believe that cutting a cable from the main switch to the relay won't always stop a thief. Anything that can ''close the circuit" no matter if it's a piece of cable or a paper clip can start your car from the start relay. Go to 3:33 Go to 2:22 Go to 4:08. This is not panacea but works with many cars and i don't want this to happen to mine.

Felicia 1.9 D completely dead after rain
Use a soft brush to clean all the ''female'' part of the contacts, water-leafs-branches-mud can be everywhere. Be patience, don't make moves ''in a hurry", take your time and clean everything. Check for burned fuses or relays that does not work properly, DO NOT try to start the car you may make things must worst. Go to a repair-shop and asked them to clean the area behind the wind shield gasket and then apply a special sealant so in the next rain you won't have the same problem. Plus ask them to clean the drain holes of your car (left-right side) because after so long they will be clogged.

Felicia 1.9 D completely dead after rain
Do not attempt to start the car or open lights etc now ! Take a good picture or draw them and the remove ALL the relays, the plugs and the fuses, let the whole thing dry naturally or help it a bit with a head gun (in lower scale). Use Contact cleaner (No Oil edition) spray everywhere. The water may came in from the wind shield ''gasket'', i had that problem in the rear wind shield.

Kill Switch in a Skoda Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanI saw a video with a guy removing the start relay (which was in the fuse box), then connenting with a cable 2 pins (you have to know which) and ''brooom'' the car started (of course with no key). That's why i don't want to do anything inside the cabin for example with the main switch cables because i know that this is the first place that the thief will start working. How many Ampere must this relay be for the solenoid cable? 100-200-240?

Kill Switch in a Skoda Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanI don't want to ''break'' the fuel pump circuit because i have heard that the thieves first will insist many times cranking the engine and if they don't hear the sound of the pump after the first scale of the ignition key will start searching for a hidden switch. I had the thought that when the car is parked in the street (among others) and after cut-off the ignition the thief can not manage to start the car and since has not the space to push it-engage gear-start it, then he will abandon any try. In the ''how-to'' videos with the remote control system it's easy to ''cut-off'' the negative cable to the pole but if the thief raises the hood then he would easily see the relay.

Kill Switch in a Skoda Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanI have tried to cover all the aspects, simple kill switch, with 2 or 3 functions, with remote control. I am sceptical about the Ampere that this (remote control) relay may consumes in ''stand by mode" and i have found these: In theory but practical so if you move your car after few days (according to him) won't drain your battery.

Kill Switch in a Skoda Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanThere is also a Remote Control version of this Kill Switch, here are some examples. I wonder doesn't drain the battery after some days in ON position? How about cutting the power to the Solenoid (and not the batteries negative cable), would be effective too?

Kill Switch in a Skoda Felicia
We all have heard about it more or less, in the beginning they put that switch to cut the power to the gas pump but latter they extend it. Nowadays via internet the thieves can get many electronic devices, there are sites and even applications in smartphones to help them so is the Kill Switch ''the last line of Defence" ? VIN etching or Logo engraving to prevent car theft?
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanHow To Steal And Dodge And Other Cars With Just A Vin Number! He says he can do it for BMW,Mercedes etc. Some trying to protect their car use VIN Cover Example: https://qualityscooterparts.com/-71671.html Although the Police says otherwise. https://www.ksat.com/news/2015/02/18/will-covering-your-vin-keep-thieves-from-stealing-your-car/ Officer Marcus Trujillo with the San Antonio Police Department explains why you don't want to cover it up. "Another common myth that's been circulating around and now through the popularity of social media it seems to have resurfaced again is that operators of vehicles should, as a precautionary measure, cover their VIN on their dashboard to prevent anyone from copying down their VIN number and going to the dealer to get a copy of the key to that vehicle. However, number one, you can't do that unless you prove ownership and show a picture ID when you go to the dealer. Two, blocking your VIN from display is actually against the law. So you need to have your VIN number displayed."

D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda Forman@Papez you mean switches like these? When i bought my Felicia looked like this https://www.polychronou.gr/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/DSC09128.jpg same crappy gear knob and gaiter-hand brake handle-central console etc. Still have those first windows switches, were in green colour with no good feeling when you pressed them.
