2019 Superb 206 vs 2019 Golf R
The 7 speed isn't any faster, especially in the 0-100 Km/h segment. The DQ381 7 speed is being rolled-out as it has lower cruising rpm = better fuel economy and meeting emissions requirements in certain markets. The DQ381 (stock) can also handle additional torque (DQ250 is apparently limited to 400Nm in stock form - but can be safely tuned above that). TBH, unless you use launch control or some specific DSG re-mapping, the biggest impediment with any DSG is getting it quickly off the line, as there is always the inevitable pause while the clutches engage. Recent local tests of the updated VW Arteon (same 206kw engine tune), it was almost a full second outside the advertised 0-100 km/h time, unless launch control was used, when it then performed almost exactly to the advertised time.

I should have added, that it demonstrates how the Euro 6 emission standards hobble the performance!

2019 Superb 206 vs 2019 Golf R
Yes, I've long suspected that the times for the Superb 206 Sportline are without launch control activated (which is available on the vehicle), while those for the Golf R are. Out of interest are the figures in the back of the owner's manual that came with my MY21 Superb indicating a 5.2 second for 0-100Kmh (and 400Nm of torque).

It'll be the fuel lines. I have a MY21 and unbelievably it still hasn't been fixed!

Cleaning 19” Vega Alloys - What Do You Use?
So my car is less than three months old and I was dubious about that too, but used Bowden's 'Wheely Clean" spray on the wheels the other day and was amazed how much purple gunk came away from the wheels (ie. iron oxides). So I'm a bit of a convert. For those of you not from this part of the world, Bowden's make quality car care gear in Australia, but come up with the most ridiculous funny names for their products. 'Wheely Clean' is marketed with a new formula that quote "no longer smells like arse". My current favourite of theirs is "Far Cough" interior deodoriser:

New Brochure (& specs) from 1st July 2021
There is more lighting lately. I noticed the other night that my MY21 has door pocket illumination front and rear (in addition to ambient lighting, interior door handle illumination and projected 'SKODA' onto the ground when you open the front doors)

Thoughts on a new MY21 Superb Sportline 280
To try and answer your questions. The MY21 AUS Spec variants are not detuned. They are essentially the same engines as the MY18-19 sold worldwide and are therefore not Euro6 compliant (as AUS is not yet formally party to Euro6). Consequently, Skoda for whatever reason, has continued to mate those engines with the previous 6 Speed DQ250 DSG, as per the MY18-19 and probably noting that the Euro compliant engines with the PPF have to be paired with the newer 7 Speed DQ380 DSG. My understanding is that once the current stock of non-Euro6 engines and 6 Speed gearboxes runs out at the factory, AUS will receive the same Euro6 engines and 7 Speed DQ380 DSGs as everyone else. I think this is a one-off for MY21 for Australia only. I have noticed that the MY21 DQ250 has had a little change in tuning compared to my previous MY19 6 Speed. Most of the hesitation on initial application of throttle has been removed and it seems to hold 2nd and 3rd gears much longer (in D setting) than the previous DSG did. Overall, I like the changes there. As for the 0-100 KMH times, Skoda (and Audi and VW) seem to choose figures almost at random. I have detected no fall-off in performance on the MY21 compared to my previous MY19. In fact in the back of the owner's manual for my MY21, that stats for the non Euro6 engine (ie. the one I have) indicate a 5.2 second time and also 400Nm of torque, even though the MY21 brochure continues to list 5.8 seconds. Who knows?! I've taken a photo from the manual, see below: Some interesting figures there for Euro6 compliant vehicles. No sure what to make of that? So, overall, no drop-off and when the JB1 is added, it feels very rapid indeed. There is no Performance Monitor on my MY21 vehicle which has MIB III, unlike the previous MIB II I had on my MY19. The newer system also continues to be laggy and prone to freezing up. I never had a single problem with my previous MIB II. The rear windows and rear screen come with factory dark tint privacy glass. The front windows I have had tinted to match the rears at around T20. The throttle controller increases the sensitivity of the accelerator and removes the 'dead' travel on the accelerator that virtually all manufacturers engineer in as you push down on the accelerator. Hope this helps.

DSG torque limits if mapping - have you had joy or tears?
The way I understand it on the DQ250 is that it is limited to 400Nm electronically. I don't believe the actual transmission will be harmed - it just limits torque to that number. Hence with a DSG tune that limit can be raised (or essentially switched off). I believe the DQ250 is a pretty hardy unit and can handle more torque easily. I'm on my second Superb running a JB1 always on 98RON fuel (both 6 speed DQ250) and never experienced an issue with the DSG. But I accept that some torque that is probably being generated by the JB1 cannot be translated through the DSG because it is limited to 400Nm (and I would need to get a DSG tune to fix that).

Yes, 6 Speed DQ250. I haven't experienced any issues with it handling the additional torque from the JB1. However, I am also aware that the DQ250 maxes out around 400Nm and to truly benefit it would need a DSG remap. Just not a priority at the moment and it is plenty fast regardless, especially in the mid range. I have received a set of Eibach springs this week and will get them installed in the near future to sharpen the handling. The number of USBs in the vehicle is poor for a MY21 update. That said, it has wireless phone charging and wireless Car Play, so I haven't actually used the front USB-C port for anything yet anyway.

Congrats on the new Sportline, the silver looks great. The MIB III system is a dog and has frozen up completely on me several times (requires the car to be shut off, let it go to sleep, and then re-started to unfreeze the unit). In regard to the USB, I have simply copied all the tracks in straight to the USB. I have not created any play lists - just a straight dump of music files onto the USB. Consequently it will remember the last played track, as you've found.

New Superb Sportline Plus with Virtual Cockpit but no TSR - Can I display Speed Sign info in Virtual Cockpit or not?
Well this is all very disappointing. I have a MY21 280 Sportline (with A5 camera etc) and there's a glaring empty space in the centre top of the VC where speed signs should be displayed. I have VCDS and was going to try and enable TSR, but looks like it's yet another thing they've managed to lock-out on the MY21 cars. Hmmph!

Infotainment and sat nav (MIB3) keeps restarting...anyone else?
Mine has frozen and also become spontaneously locked on mute, which required the car to completely switch off and then restart to clear it. MIB III is really quite sub-standard compared to the previous generation.

Thoughts on a new MY21 Superb Sportline 280
I should have added that I went through the same issues finding the right USB for music in the car (noting that the previous SD-Card reader has been deleted on MY21). I couldn't find a low profile USB-C stick that would fit under the sliding panel. So I got the fastest (and smallest/lowest profile physical size) USB 3.0 stick and used the port in the rear of the centre storage bin. It works fine and connects to the Columbus with no issues. I have left the front USB-C open for use another day for something else. Remember if you want album art to display on the screen, the jpg's must be no larger than 500 x 500 pixels.

There is a single USB-C (illuminated) next to the phone charging mat under the sliding panel just in front of the gear shift. Then a single standard USB inside and at the rear of the centre arm rest storage box. They are the only two USB's in the car - none in the rear - which is underwhelming for a 2021 update. The front badge is aftermarket (from SuperSkoda or whatever they call themselves now). It's basically OEM and fitted straight on and I think better matches the overall piano black highlights on the Sportline, especially the black rear badging.

I think it's linked to the engine. So NZ is probably receiving the 272 engine with particulate filter. In which case it'll come with the 7 speed DSG. As this has the 280 engine without the particulate filter, it comes with the 6 speed.

Thoughts on a new MY21 Superb Sportline 280
Yes, that's the one. However, I didn't use the supplied filter as I felt it was just a little too open and likely to let crud through. Hence I went for the Pipercross panel instead. It's part of a broader approach and should be matched with a better high flow TIP. Independent test of the 034 here: http://mygolfmk7.com/2020/03/034-cold-air-intake-flow-test/

The mods are all easily removable and I have kept all the original parts and if necessary I can return the car to absolute stock in around 45 minutes.

Thoughts on a new MY21 Superb Sportline 280
Having taken delivery of a new MY21 Superb Sportline 280 hatch, I thought I would provide a little summary of my observations compared to my previous MY19 Sportline. Background: I had a MY19 Sportline 280 hatch for just over a year until it was written off in a collision last September by an SUV driver running a red light and t-boning my vehicle in the side and front (car safety was excellent and I walked away without a scratch). My insurance cover was for a full new vehicle replacement and after allowing for COVID factory shutdowns, semi-conductor shortages and shipping delays, I finally received a replacement MY21 Sportline 280 hatch just over a week ago. Note: The Aus-Spec MY21 Sportlines do not (yet) need to conform to Euro 6 regulations so my new vehicle retains the 280hp engine without a particulate filter. It is also retains the 6 Speed DQ250 DSG transmission. Everything else is consistent with European MY21 vehicles. Pros: DSG appears to be recalibrated and is far more lively and crisp than previous versions with virtually none of the dreaded hesitation and lurch at initial take off. It’s the first time I can say I’m actually enjoying a DSG. Paddle shifters are larger and better shaped (but see cons below) Matrix LED headlights work well and rear LED light animations are cool ‘Sportline’ start-up instrument panel animations add a little theatre More bass/mid/treble settings for the Columbus Canton system than before, although the overall Canton sound is much the same The black lettering on the rear suits a Sportline, as do the rear dark tinted and smoked light lenses KESSY on the rear doors as well now Wireless Apple CarPlay works seamlessly The blindspot warning light in the mirrors has been relocated to a much larger warning light on the car window side of the external mirror housings. This is a great improvement over the MY19, which had a tiny light built into the mirrors surface and was impossible to see in bright sunlight Cons: The quad outlet exhausts with valves has been deleted. Despite retaining the previous 280 engine and running gear, the quad outlets and valves I had on my MY19 vehicle have been replaced by a simple dual exhaust and no valves (single outlet each side). Rather sad about that… Related to the above, it seems that Skoda spent whole minutes working closely with Dyson to specially tune the exhaust note. A little rumble would have been nice (and no, I don't want a resonator-delete and I'm not taken with the couple of aftermarket systems I've seen on here for the Superb) MIB III infotainment system ‘user experience’ is definitely a step backwards. The Skoda dealer warned me everyone hates it and I’m starting to join that club. The menus are clunky and finding some of the settings buried in sub-menus and sub-sub-menus with odd titles takes way more time than it should The Performance Gauges with configurable dials like turbo boost etc that used to appear on the centre screen has gone completely (thanks again MIB III) Driver profile settings are not remembered when you switch off the vehicle. So, if you set 'Individual' with your own settings (for example: DCC and Steering switched to Sport), the vehicle will automatically revert to the standard default settings when you next start it up, and you will then need to flick through the menu to put the vehicle back into 'Individual' mode again. My previous MY19 vehicle stuck with whatever Individual settings I had when the car was restarted. Paddle shifter shape appears to be unique. ie. different shape to previous Superb (MY19 and earlier), and looks like a different shape to VW Golf Mk8 etc. So no paddle extensions available to fit, nor can you easily fit full replacement shifter paddles as the fastening pins that were accessible on previous models have been hidden inside the wheel boss. I have both Carista and Ross-Tech VCDS and it’s clear VW/Skoda have locked out a great many features previously accessible on my MY19 – there are very few VCDS tweaks available on MY21 (at least at this stage) Only one USB-C port and one standard USB port in the entire vehicle and none in the rear. This should have been resolved for the MY21 update I like the new steering wheel overall, but the leather stitching design is more basic and less attractive than on the previous wheel You now only get one Skoda umbrella per vehicle, just in the driver’s door (although the Skoda dealer was kind enough to put another one in the front passenger door for me) The removable flashlight in the boot has been deleted, even the mount Modifications so far: · BMS Throttle Controller (best value single upgrade in my opinion) · 034 Motorsport Air Intake with a Pipercross panel filter · HG-Motorsport hi-flow aluminium Turbo Inlet Pipe · JB1 stage 1 piggy back ECU ...and a full tank of 98RON! Overall, the 2021 Sportline is a fantastic car: well built, quiet, sure footed AWD and genuinely fast. After six months in a little Hyundai rental car, it’s a joy to be back behind the wheel.

Help with JB4 location?
Actually, the car is new and is four days old from delivery. So easy fix for you: get a new car and your engine bay will look just as shiny!!

Help with JB4 location?
As newbie states, it fits perfectly between the airbox and battery, with cables threaded underneath the pipe. Here's my JB1 box with the arrow.

Album Art problem
If you ensure the album art is no larger than 500 x 500 pixels, it will display fine in the Skoda. Larger sizes won't display.

To Canton or not to Canton - that is the question?
Hi there. Short answer is that the Superb sub is better in generating bass than the Octavia and delivers a superior overall sound field compared to the Octavia. The Superb sub sounds reasonable, but doesn't have anything like the same punch as a decent after-market active sub. But you'll find the Superb delivers overall good sound with Canton, just don't expect to be blown away.

To Canton or not to Canton - that is the question?
We have an Octavia and Superb in the household, both with Canton. The version fitted to the Superb is far superior to that fitted to the Octavia. Extra mid-range speakers and a better sub/digital amp configuration in my opinion. I listen to similar music in both vehicles quite frequently and can compare directly. That said, I 'like' the Canton (as fitted to the Superb) rather than love it. It still tends to be overly 'bright' and needs treble and mid turned down, and the sub still lacks punch (and don't bother setting it above '2' as it just distorts). We also have a VW Jetta Highline in the family that I had previously fitted a good quality aftermarket active subwoofer to (under the passenger seat), and despite not having fancy digital amps etc actually sounds much better than the Canton on any piece of music. However, it is still a no-brainer whether or not to option Canton. It's always a Yes, as I can only imagine the standard audio system would be rather disappointing.

2018 Superb 280 - Foglight moisture - normal ???
14 months since new and no moisture in any lights. If it is moisture in there and if, therefore, the light isn't sealed, that should be a warranty fix.

Tuning Box, JB4 vs DTUK?
280 Sportline sedan here: I've had a JB1 for 14 months now since the car was brand new (I fitted it at home the day after I took delivery). It has worked faultlessly and has delivered a healthy jump in power and acceleration. I did research on DTUK prior and saw some Golf R's that were running very rough with their DTUK box on YouTube. Burger Motorsports seems to have a better tune and better after-market support compared to DTUK. I haven't been disappointed and for the money I think it is hard to beat. And the JB4 offers greater tune-ability too than the JB1 I have.
