What have you done to your Superb III today?
Finally got around to installing a Whiteline adjustable Rear Sway Bar a few days ago. The standard sway bar on the AWD is 22mm, this is 24mm solid steel and I had it set to the hardest of the two settings (so equivalent to 25mm). I kept the factory end links (I'm not going to track this vehicle!). Definitely worth doing, and transforms the cornering response - it now has a much sharper turn-in, very flat, smooth and precise and a great addition to the Eibach springs. Happily, it's removed much of the inherent understeer and greatly reduced the sense of bulk and weight of the Superb when it's cornering. Ride comfort is unaffected.

Engine Cover Dealer Delete
Just for reference here is the EA888 Gen 4 motor and cover. As you can see the oil filler is further forward on the left side of the engine compared to the Gen 3. This is the engine cover that has caused all the problems. It's a floppy, spongey material that never anchored properly to the engine mounting studs and also melts near the turbo (!) - basically it's cheap and nasty and further evidence of VW Group cost cutting. And nowhere near as nice as the updated Gen 3 rigid cover on MY20+ vehicles with that engine. It doesn't appear there's an imminent fix to the Gen 4 cover and so all VW Group vehicles with that engine are going out without any cover and it looks a mess.

Engine Cover Dealer Delete
So as best I can understand this issue, there's a little confusion between the engine covers for the EA888 Gen 3 and Gen 4 motors. The Superbs delivered since 2021 here in Oz have still got the Gen 3 non-PPF 280 engine, but do come with a revised engine cover which is a hard plastic, as below on mine (compared to pre-2020 models which had a smaller cover): The Gen 4 models have (...had!) a different engine cover - a weird floppy soft plastic thing. It's distinguished by the oil filler cap opening in the cover about halfway along on the left hand side of the cover as you look at it in the bay (as opposed to the Gen 3 which has the oil filler at the rear left of the engine and no open hole on the engine cover). The Gen 4 floppy cover was always pretty naff, and I'm not surprised it was dislodging and causing problems. And clearly a Gen 3 engine cover will not suit a Gen 4 engine. I also entered my VIN number in the Skoda recall site today and it's not showing any recall for mine (nor have I been contacted by the dealer - not that that means anything these days...), so my understanding is that this issue with the engine cover only affects those with a Gen 4 engine.

Great. Thanks for the prompt response.

Is there a best point in the engine bay to connect the negative to? A photo would be really handy.

Umbrellas + Returning From The Dark Side
Yes, it’s correct. My 2021 Superb came with only a driver’s side umbrella. I pointed it out to the dealer when I took delivery. He promptly went and got a spare umbrella from stock and put it in the passenger door! TBH I’ve never used them - but it’s the principle!

Does the Sportline have stiffer suspension?
Yes, exactly that: a vertical axis from the hub centre to the bottom edge of the wheel arch guard. It is a more reliable way of measuring suspension height.
-
Does the Sportline have stiffer suspension?
Yes, 12mm spacers. I think that makes a big difference when lowering the Superb. I would also point out that F11-85-043-02-FA front springs test 10mm lower than standard AWD OEM front springs, contrary to the spreadsheet posted by MartiniB. Additionally, Eibach springs deliver superior control and handling compared to OEM Sportline springs.

Does the Sportline have stiffer suspension?
So, first thing: JR RS is absolutely right. There are two Eibach Pro-Kits for the Superb, one for the liftback and one for the wagon, with the numbers as he says. I bought the wagon version (for my liftback), despite the retailer saying it was specifically for the lift back. So something to be aware of. The rear springs on the wagon version are 5mm higher than the front springs. However, that mistake turned out to be a blessing, at least for my tastes. (All subsequent measurements in my post are hub to guard) The Superb AWD standard ride height is 380mm, both front and rear. A major issue in my eyes is that the body shape design, when both front and rear ride heights are the same, has a very definite 'nose-down' stance and the back end of the vehicle looks like it's sticking up in the air. If you allow your eye to follow the bottom sill line between the front and rear wheels, it is not level with the ground, with a pronounced slant towards the front. This is a design aesthetic by the Skoda designers and it may not bother some people, but it is something I have never liked. I prefer a car to have a flatter stance. The front springs (F11-85-042-03-FA) in the Pro-Kit deliver a front height of 350mm. The rear springs from the Pro-Kit delivers also 350mm for the lift back or 355mm if you buy the wagon version. In my opinion, 350mm at the front is too aggressive. At least here in SA, crossing spoon drains and even getting up some ramps, it is very difficult to avoid scraping the front underside of the vehicle. I realise this is a personal view and many others may really like that ride height, and that's perfectly fine. I don't believe it fully suits this type of vehicle and it certainly has practicality issues. As I said earlier I also mixed this with wagon springs (on my liftback, because I made the mistake of buying the wrong set, d'oh!), so the rear was sitting at 355mm, and just further accentuating the nose-down, bum-up stance of the vehicle overall. However, I actually really like the rear ride height of the vehicle with those rear springs and I am glad I didn't get the correct kit, as I think 355mm (rather than 350mm) looks perfect. Again, personal opinion. After contacting Eibach Australia and discussing it, I resolved this by fitting revised front springs (F11-85-043-02-FA) which have been discussed in the forum here. I left the existing Eibach rear springs in place. This has raised the front to 370mm. The rear remains at 355mm. I am now happy with the result as it achieves two outcomes: first the front definitely has more clearance and is more practical to drive in everyday situations. Second it has removed the pronounced nose-down stance the vehicle had before and made it sit flatter overall (no more rear end sticking up). Handling changes are almost imperceptible at speed and slightly more compliant over speed humps at slow speed. The gap between tyre and guard is now slightly wider on the front compared to the rear which may play with some people's OCD. But as you can see from the pic above, you really have to be a train spotter to notice and I happily take that given the vehicle now sits flatter in stance overall. As MartiniB states above, you can order separately rather than as a kit, and in hindsight I would have done that from the start.

MY21 280 Sportline how to access performance monitor
I had this same question on mine. I asked the dealer specifically and they confirmed the MY21 version of MIB3 does not have the Performance Monitor. They also weren’t able to provide it via a firmware update. Frustrating. I believe this wasn’t just a Skoda thing, and that other equivalent vehicles in the VW group also didn’t get it for MY21. It may have been fixed for subsequent model years.

Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs and scrubbing question
There's a whole thread on here about how Eibach hasn't got consistent part numbers between its catalogue and its website, and also they're still showing part numbers from a pre-2017 catalogue which seemed to change to a different number after 2017. I've attached but one post from that thread trying to clarify it. It is inconsistent and confusing. I have confirmed with Eibach Australia that, either way, I have the correct Pro-Kit springs for the AWD lift back. However, as discussed, they've now ordered new front springs from Germany (not clear what part number yet) that will "raise" the front by 13mm.

Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs and scrubbing question
The Superb design has a natural nose down stance anyway, and with the Eibach Pro-Kit, this tends to accentuate it. If I remember rightly E10-79-012-04-22 front springs (F11-85-042-03-FA) are 5mm lower than the rear springs for some reason as well. Some people might like this dropped look at the front or may not even really notice it, but for me I would prefer just a little more clearance at the front and a more level stance to the vehicle in general. I think they got the height at the back just right, as even the Sportline on OE springs looks too high over the rear wheels.

Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs and scrubbing question
I have a 206/280 4x4, with stock 19 inch Supernova wheels and tyres, and have fitted the Eibach Pro-Kit E10-79-012-04-22 and run 12mm spacers. I have not had any scrubbing at all, so no issues. However, one thing I will say is that I believe the drop on the front is a fraction too much with this kit and has given the vehicle a 'nose down' stance, which I don't care for overly from an aesthetic point of view. I stress there has been no mechanical or scrubbing issues with this ride height, it's just the overall stance of the vehicle. I think the rear spring height is just right and it would look better if the front matched it more to give the vehicle a more level stance. To that end I have been in touch with Eibach Australia recently and they are going to supply me with revised front springs that will effectively raise the front height by 13mm. So it will change the overall lowering on the front from around 30mm at the moment to around 17mm. I am hopeful this will resolve the issue. I don't have the part number yet of these new springs, but if people are interested I will post it when I receive the springs.

Travel assist not available
Yep, this is a consistent problem that I understand Skoda is struggling to fix. I have a MY21 Superb and it started doing exactly the same thing a couple of months ago. When it has a turn, the loud pinging sound will just about drive you up the wall. Lately as it’s warmed up here towards summer, it seems to have stopped. But I sense it is only a pause. Skoda have told me it will require a steering wheel replacement, but as others have discovered I think it’s a deeper software issue.

Playing music from external source
Due to insurance replacement I went from a 2019 Superb with Canton (with SD card in the glovebox for music) to a 2021 version with Canton but with just USB-A and C slots, as described above. I’ve ended up using the USB-A in the centre armrest bin, but it has worked fine. I prefer using that compared to Bluetooth or wireless CarPlay, as I store music at the highest bit rate. As an aside the updated Canton in the 2021 (MIB3) sounds far better than the previous MIB2.5 version. It now has a much fuller and warmer sound and much less bright than the older Canton. At first I thought the improvement was the placebo effect of a new car in my mind, but I did some research and it would appear that the Canton DSP was updated/improved with the move to MIB3.

Suspension!
No, just the standard pads that came with the Pro Kit. The Superb seems to have a slightly nose-down stance anyway, that gets more apparent when it's lowered. The pic you submitted of the side view of your car shows it, if you follow the line of the bottom of the vehicle between the front and rear tyres and compare it to the shadow line on the road surface. I'm interested in the front spring spacers though. I presume they raise the front by around 6mm? May I ask where you sourced them.

- SKODA SUPERB HEADLIGHT MELTING PROBLEM
I have the Matrix LED headlights and have had the vehicle for 12 months. Just had a close inspection of both headlight enclosures and reflectors, and can see zero melting. All looks as it did when it left the factory,- Racechip GTS Black + App and XLR pedal box in Parts For Sale section
The pedal box should work in a MY21 with any dramas. I'm running a BMS pedal box in my MY21 and it works perfectly.- What have you done to your Superb III today?
So my 2 cents worth: I'm driving P7's on my 12 month old Superb 280 AWD (covered 10K km so far) and we also have a Skoda Octavia 132TSI in the family running new-ish Michelin PS4's. From a noise perspective I can detect no difference (and I think the Superb is quieter overall, simply due to extra noise suppression in that vehicle compared to the Octavia). In no way would I describe the P7's as noisy - but mine are not old and ragged and that may play a big difference. Handling wise, the P7's are neutral and handle well overall and I would never describe them as noticeably inferior in general day-to-day driving compared to PS4's. That said, I will go the Michelin route when the P7's are done.- 2.0 TSI Remap Options
It depends on your appetite for risk. I fitted a JB1 piggy back ECU the day after I took delivery of my new Superb (280 4x4). It is relatively easily fitted - and also removed, should I wish to. I accept in the worst case scenario that the changed turbo boost/fueling etc operating parameters could subsequently be detected. However, after just over a year there have been zero issues. I also had a JB1 fitted to a previous vehicle for 18 months and again without issue. I consider the piggy back ECU to be an acceptable risk in return for substantially improved performance. But everyone is different.- 2021 Paddle Shift extensions on AliExpress
So I ordered these and installed them today. They're actually better quality than I was expecting: aluminium and fit perfectly to the new style paddles. Good purchase.- Car will be left for a couple of months - options?
