  1. It does seem a bit odd to let you know your side lights are on but not your headlights when having manual lights... probably be less confusing with no warning
  2. Also I was not trying to call anyone here incompetent just inferring that's why they have to cover their arses as there are plenty of people out there that are...
  3. Ok so you don't have auto lights then you have turned them on with the switch why do you need a warning light to tell you if they are on or not... The manual does also state if the switch fails the dipped lights will come on so that's no an issue. Some people just like to pick fault with everything
  4. The UK VRS has no chrome around the windows anyway so that's not part of the black pack either.
  5. Manual clearly states on page 57 of mine under automatic driving lamp control "if the light switch is in position AUTO, then the symbol AUTO lights up next to the light switch. If the light is switched on automatically, the symbol (parking light symbol) next to the light switch also lights up" They have to go through many warnings etc in manuals to cover their own arses as people like to blame their incompetence on the manuals.
  6. All of the maxidot is subtle and informative if you want to read it though not a big bright green light that is already redundant due to the one on the switch
  7. I'm sure they have simply removed it as it's unnecessary and to declutter the dash so when a warning light comes on that's actually worth worrying about it attracts the drivers attention. My wife's car has no indication at all if the lights are on or off in auto or manual as it's just not needed. Newer cars that separate the interior illumination from the exterior illumination have a tell tail light for auto just like yours does but its simple and on the switch. Most of the cars i see driving in poor vis with no lights on are old cars that are very unlikely to have auto lights... If I'm remotely concerned that my auto lights might not have activated in fog then a quick glance at the switch informs me. Vag cars have been like this for a long time and I'm sure Skoda is just coming more inline with vw who's switches have been like this since 2006 possibly earlier?
  8. I don't know I've never had a car with a light up switch before (other than generic dash illumination that comes on with the lights) and only a few of them have had a light up warning on the dash for dipped beam. Still if you didn't think the switch worked properly then reading the manual would have cleared this up.
  9. When you move the lights to on you have switched it yourself so why do you need a warning light? When you put main beam on there is a warning light as it's law, this warns you of dazzling other drivers just like the fog lights have a warning. The auto lights will only ever turn them fully on or off seeing as the sidelights are for parking not driving so again where is the problem?
  10. The green symbol means the dipped lights are on... Auto lights don't turn on the sidelights on their own
  11. This has been done to death. If you have the lights in auto and are concerned if they are on or off just look at the switch! Green light means that they are on. it's easy to see with a quick glance.
  12. I would love to get some better induction noise from my VRS as I to feel it's too quiet but just didn't want to sacrifice the filtration of the standard unit which is good for 300bhp if you remap so can't be restricting the intake much if at all at 220bhp
  13. Ouch, unlucky. Can't imagine it would take them more than an hour's labour to change it unless there is anything in the way that needs to be removed subframe wise etc. Whilst I'm sure the plastic sump is fine I can't see it ever taking a beating like a steel one can. Seem some right messed up ones. On one car for a TV series myself and friends did we dropped a car off the end of a large seesaw(land rover pivot type obstical and we went too quick) right onto the slam panel and sump so hard the rod bolts left 4 dents in it where they pushed the sump back out after the ground bashed it in :-) Can't see a plastic one surviving that but thankfully most will never see that kind of abuse lol.
  14. Mine has returned a long term average of around 35mpg from brand new to its current 16k miles over 2.5 years, it hasn't got any better or worse. My commute is ideal for getting good economy though, 30 minutes each way of mostly A roads which get the economy up to nearly 40mpg then I kill it "enjoying" the performance around Milton Keynes for the last part of the journey down to 34 or so. If I drive it hard all the way home i can get it as low as 22mpg however as soon as I get stuck behind someone on a winding road it comes back up to around 30mpg easily. Unless it's a short trip I struggle to get under 30mpg and I'm no fan boy... My wife's old e46 330 will return about 38mpg doing the same journey but if you want to have fun then it will plummet compared to the VRS
  15. My car is at the same mileage and the rear brakes are fine, hardly worn. Seems fishy to me, did they say they failed them due to lack of effectiveness or were the pads worn?
  16. I presume he is referring to the crankshaft thrust bearing not the clutch release bearing. But still don't think they wear that much other than when you sit on the clutch constantly. As you are pushing the clutch diaphragm into the flywheel which is pushing the crankshaft and it's the thrust bearing that takes the load
  17. My AS3 say rim protection with an arrow pointing to the rim sticking out past the tyre... Wife had AS2 on her bmw 330 and they stuck out a good 10mm past the rim.
  18. Used love the rim protection provided by the as2 so bought as3 for mine when the original conti sport 2 were worn down... Shocked to find the rims stick out beyond the protection on the as3 unlike the contis. But like you say they are great tyres otherwise
  19. The only trouble with getting wheels recut is depending on the design it can look pretty obvious. Both Gemini and extremes both have thin bands of machined finish which will widen when the damage is removed. Obviously the deeper the damage the more they would have to take off. Thankfully for you both wheels are on the same side so at least each side of the car should match
  20. I'm sure a silver touch up will work just fine then... Will surley look better than bare kerbing. Dealer might well sell a touch up pen in the right colour. Kerbing on the anthracite ones stand out even more!
  21. The Gemini are diamond cut as well... I've only seen one VRS without Gemini wheels to be fair!
  22. I'd be pretty disappointed to have to use the diesel :-( Sure its still good fun but the petrol must be better suited to the track?
  23. Reminds me of these... Not going to lie though I remember having big wide tyres with white writing on my old scimitar GTE hehe
