1. Best thing you could do with a renault :sofahide:
2. Interesting you say that as someone recently pointed out on here that on the octy the front foglights come on before the rears on the switch, therefore making your scenario impossible to avoid
3. Went round on email a while back but it's f'ing class . brings tear of laughter to my eyes
4. Right, I've got my hands on the protractor for the evening and the best I can get is approximately 70 degrees, measured in the boot against the floor. I had to use the box the thing comes in to pack it out enough to get over the annoying lip so it's a best guess. would say it's definately between 65-70 anyway. Are you building a sub by any chance? I actually built mine for my old escort with a bit of rough guesswork and it follows the angle of the seats in my vrs pretty well, apart from the lip means there's a gap (which my umbrella fits nicely in ) Hope this helps.
5. If I can find a protractor around here (in a design office ) I'll try and measure mine sometime and post back.......
6. Not sure yet Mo, I only sent the docs yesterday by special delivery (thanks again to the posties ) but I did state that I accept no responsibility and the wife's statement agrees with that. Will just have to wait and see I guess........
7. My insurance company have told me my premium will still go up as a result of the stupid b*tch that clouted me the other week, even if its proved to be all her fault (which I know they'll go 50/50 despite the evidence I've sent in of photos and road / car measurements etc) Interestingly though they told me the rise would be a: marginal anyway , and b: actually less if it's 50/50 than if 0% blame to me as apparantly people are more careful drivers after a 50/50 accident than if it's all the other persons fault  . Go figure.
8. Tw@ts that go right at roundabouts in the left hand lane, despite clearly marked arrows on each entry lane - then nearly smash me up as I indicate and attempt to move into the correct lane on exit . This happens at a small roundabout on my drive home where there is a small dual carriageway on the right exit and two lanes coming in. Left lane is for left and straight over, right is for right only yet loads of dipsh$ts still go right round with you then carve you up.......
9. Looks ace that . What does detailing involve? (Curious what all the masking off is for!)
10. Tried with my phone (500 texts and mins a month) - no win.:( Tried again with my missus's PAYG - result! :nana: :woot:
11. Oh no, that's not a good experience :thumbdwn: . As I mentioned in my message to them, I've noticed a loss in startup time etc since installing which hasn't improved as much even after removing and wiping the tomtom disc and re-installing from scratch. The only thing that got copied back was the map data (which I thankfully backed up to my pc) so either they've done something to that or the unit itself - hope it's not the unit as this would suggest that it's permanent :( . I've just checked the map folder and it doesn't seem to have any modified files except the config one which seems to contain all my recent and favourite addresses  .
12. Ever since my track day at thruxton I've used the quarter to three approach and I'd say my driving has improved greatly for it. Before, I used to generally hold the wheel with left hand up at 10 and the right down at 4 or 5 (or just one handed at 4 or 5  ) - don't know why, this just seemed comfortable :P . Once I got used to holding the wheel on the "comfort bars" I found my general control through corners to be much improved . If someone is more comfortable using the push pull method then good luck to them, life would be boring if we all through the same - I'll stick to what I'm most confident with. At least now I have both hands on the wheel 95% of the time!
13. Mine hasn't done it since I had a look at all the connections myself . I believe the relay is located under the drivers side kick panel. All three items (relay, motor and stalk) were replaced on mine without curing the fault until I checked over all the connection points.
14. Please don't try to misrepresnt my comments. I have no issue with the colour of any persons skin. My comments are mainly borne of frustration at the high numbers of non english speaking people who come here with no intention of contributing to society and then proceed to make us look racist when we complain about their "rights" to ban display of the union jack etc. All "helped" by the current government. You get the picture, I'm not going to get into an online argument about the small print.
15. I used the contact link on the talex website and filled in the comments form. The box was quite full after I'd finished ranting about how rubbish their overlay was
16. Don't even get me started to that one :grumpy: - what's racist about wanting to put british people first in their home country???!!! I've voted for them before and would do it again if they had a good enough chance of getting in - anyone that's against mass immigration gets my vote.
17. I've had an email back from them today, appologising profusely for the lack of previous responses and claiming theuy will "take my comments onboard" . They said they are trying to implement a menu into the tomtom software (haven't got it working yet) and will be making improvements available via the update software. Think I'll be replying back asking how to uninstall / disable it if I choose to try loading it again on my (now cleaned) tomtom and it still sucks! Maybe we should all send them some grief via the website, maybe then they'll get it sorted a bit quicker
18. I did this on my drive to work which passes through two mobiles on the way in and one on the way out (different routes through the town for traffic!), the talex was first to warn each time, closely followed by the tomtom so the actual verbal positioning was fine. The problem seems to be where they are defining the end of the zone with the icon - I reckon the icon should accurately reflect the scamera van's position (as the pocketgps one does) with the warning being far enough in advance to not be at risk of speeding tickets. And the whole reduce speed warning is extremely pants, made worse by the faulty positioning. If they added a menu to the tomtom system to allow system settings to be changed then presumably this could be stopped, as per the "camera only" mode on the talex unit. It was also a concern about the red light cameras after the gatso but by then I was that pee'd off with it that I wasn't going to give it many more chances :P . I'll look into emailing them via the contact form on the site.
19. I might well email them but not sure if they'll listen as I didn't purchase direct :( . The problem with the camera icons etc is that the actual van's position is after the warning (same warning position as the lite almost) but the icon is well over half a mile away over the brow of a hill and around at least 3 corners on a t junction where there is no place for them to park :thumbdwn: . Theres is absolutely no way that the camera van parks there and I know the exact place they (used to) park, as backed up correctly by the pocketgps database. If I can find a map online later I'll post something up to illustrate how far out it is.
20. Currently having to re-install tomtom and all extras as the bootup was also extremely slow after installing (and deleting) the flipping overlay
21. You're probably quite right - it's another £10 a month I could have in my pocket if I cancelled! I've been a member ever since I was a shop floor electrical fitter (15 years ago now  ) so even though I've been off the tools in the design side of things for 4 years or so it's just a fear of "what if" that's stopped me cancelling. Really should I suppose, the only thing worth it though is I get to hear the news from various shop floor meetings etc which non members aren't privvy to . Amusing when people are throwing dummies around...........
22. Hell, and I thought driving an F430 was lucky (although I paid £95 on top of my "experience" and anyone can do it at thruxton ) Lucky Barsteward!!!:jawbig:
23. Well after using this overlay for a few days now I can confirm that in my humble opinion this overlay is the biggest pile of :toilet: I have ever used :thumbdwn: :( . It's had the latest updates yet it still positions the camera sites completely wrong! I tested it through a zone that has a 50mph gatso followed by 2 red light cameras and it completely missed the red lights till I was way past them, didn't pinpoint the gatso correctly and most annoyingly of all constantly tells me to "reduce speed" ( ) for mobile sites - a feature that can be disabled by using camera only mode on the proper talex unit. This is really poor as the mobile sites are shown about half a mile past the actual site used so all the way after I'm in the clear it's bugging me. I think I'm gonna write off my
24. Unfortunately any strike by "public sector" workers is going to struggle to gain public support if it affects said public. Strikes in this day and age are pointless, most companies have plans in place to bring in outside staff and life goes on. On the whole Royal Mail (as a company, not the individuals) are a shower of the brown smelly stuff - prices keep going up, service keeps going down :thumbdwn: and the workers striking only makes this look worse. Maybe they feel there's no other option but this is a no win situation IMHO. Oh, and I'm a member of the AEEU and they're a waste of space too .
