  1. Rear wash wipe - one of the most pointless parts of any car. Every one I've had ever has been noisy/ juddered/ smeared/ leaked into the tailgate/boot and just been a general annoyance. Glad I've got a rearview parking camera on the current car, so there's no reason to ever use the rear wipe 😉
  2. Clearly, if you have to travel across the channel that often, then the cost benefits of LPG are of no use. Living on an island where a full tank of LPG is €18, I'm most happy to have found this version in stock here.
  3. 700kms on it now, mostly on LPG. The engine is tight and we live in a hilly area but the first tank estimate is 36mpg on LPG which is the cost equivalent of 65mpg at unleaded prices. Once it's run in I expect it will loosen up and do better. Drives nice, very roomy compared with similar small Skoda's & SEATs. And it's cheaper obviously. The only downside (in the UK) is the shocking delivery delays. Phone integration is excellent, using Google Maps and media apps from my Android. Going to give Waze a try tomorrow.
  4. Surprising stewards decision, the driver steward was an ex-RedBull F1 driver! Mind you Max only has to run him off 8 more times and he'll be champion by 5 points.
  5. Wow. Washed up driver leads washed up team 1-2 at GP. Well done McLaren. Well done also Halo designer and legislators. Max's wheel hit Hamilton's head in their shunt, and he's not seriously hurt or worse.
  6. Yes, as long as there is no mental pressure on Bottas he's very fast. Maybe Alfa should only enter one car next year so he won't always be worrying about his team-mate. He is, I read, hacked off at not being credited with this pole today mind you.
  7. Great day for Max. After not being fastest in qually, and not winning the Sprint race, he still somehow gets credited with pole position, and looks on for an easy win tomorrow...well not as easy as the Belgian one but whatever, his momentum toward the title is undeniable.
  8. Having long had a purchasing policy of buy brand new but buy cheap, we've continued the same way after relocating to Tenerife. Importing cars from the UK is expensive, second hand cars on the island are expensive, so a cheap new one was the way ahead. After researching the market in the Canaries, it seemed the likely choices were old stock i20 or Ibiza, or brand new C3 or Sandero. Having driven 3 of them already we tried the Sandero Stepway at our local UK Renault dealer. First thoughts it's a nice car, though the demo was the top of the range one. Modern inside and out, well equipped, and a good drive. The 1.0 triple is gruffer sounding than VWs, but seems to have better torque than my 110TSI. It's also a big car, 4 inches wider, longer and higher than a C3. Roomier than the other choices, and the interior matches SEAT/Skoda for quality and comfort, whist being much nicer than the 2020 Citroen/Hyundais. So, Mrs Spyyder chose the Sandero, but shortly afterwards I found out about the 5/6 month wait for one 😮 so I wasnt hopeful. Luckily, and unlike any UK dealers, the Tenerife/Gran Canaria agent had about a dozen in stock, so instead of ordering the lower spec one we were aiming for (and waiting forever), we spent a little more and grabbed a stock vehicle which was delivered 7 days later. Our bi-fuel car has an LPG system which improves the engine from OK to very nice. Smoother, quicker, cheaper to run and greener. In the UK theres no price premium for it either, so I wonder why anyone is buying the petrol . Is it really still cheap? Well the stripped out and slow 65PS Access was £7995 but Dacia UK have binned it. The range entry is now £8995, but again its only 65PS. You have to have the 90 or 100PS engine really so the Sandero in mid-spec now is more like a 10.5k car. The SUV-look Stepway is another 1k on top, but most seem to be buying the higher Comfort or Prestige models of that one, which whilst loaded can get up towards £15k. Ours is middle of the Stepway range, and only lacks blindspot warning and satnav options from the highest spec (but has Carplay/Android Auto so who needs integral nav?). These prices are for possibly the biggest supermini on the market, nearly the size of a Golf, and the price competition are mostly tiny citycars, or very basic editions of comparable hatches. It's still real value for money whatever you choose, but no longer old tech, this is based on the current Clio/Juke platform and is genuinely a modern car. I can see why its #1 in European sales, and I'm glad we beat the rush, as stocks in Spain are dwindling now too.
  9. Albon. Good enough to be team leader at Williams??
  10. And their engine department was ILMOR another "British" firm. Mind you, the Austrian F1 team is based in Milton Keynes, the French F1 team in Enstone etc etc.
  11. I really did wonder about the meaning of your post Jock. Thanks for clearing it up 😉
  12. Official FIA F1 site shows all cancelled except Istanbul? But Turkey is a red list country.
  13. Agree it lacked excitement. Nieuw Zandvoort is more of a go-kart track than F1. At least it went ahead, Some favourite circuits due soon have cancelled, Singapore, Suzuka, Melbourne, Istanbul?
  14. better remind me of the terms of our virtual bet Elanore...
  15. Bottas signs for Alfa. Why would you do that? When you get binned from a top team and no other top team wants you, why would you? Nothing against Sauber as such, but they have won just one GP in 29 seasons. Another question. Why would they want #77, who's been made to look increasingly ordinary at AMG - Mercedes the last few years?
  16. Better racing than expected sure, and I agree it's too short a track, but someone built a Center Parcs on the old high speed return loop...
  17. It looks like a one lane track, a faster Hungaroring if you like, but I think overtaking will be a major issue. If only Assen had won the Dutch GP? At least Pirelli have brought tires that can survive the banking, unlike Michelin at Indy 2005, but 6 red flags during yesterday's programme doesnt really bode well for todays main event.
  18. Track looks so narrow. How many safety cars on Sunday?
  19. Kubica to race Alfa, as Kimi positive for C-19.
  20. Farcical to put the driver's at risk and also then give out points based on no racing laps at all. The FIA race director needs firing. I remember it happened quite recently to Indycars race director/safety boss when the teams deemed him incompetent. Given that standing F1 rules had to be changed to get the race started, will any teams protest the result? Alfa and Haas could be tempted given the points haul Williams collected?
  21. Great drive. Not the first time a "poor" chassis in dry conditions has shone here in the wet but mega driving too. Mercedes say the driver choice is done for 2022. Do they value the Constructors Cup more than keeping Lewis happy? Sure we'll know soon.
  22. Mugello could replace Istanbul. Both great tracks. Perez re- contracted for 2022 by RBR. Max fastest in FP2 then has minor crash.
  23. Radio logos can be downloaded from the web and added to your HU maybe. https://www.google.com/amp/s/media.info/radio/how-to/radio-station-logos-for-your-volkswagen-or-skoda-radio
  24. Don't think the Rapid has the hardware for this. You can't activate all window closure by long press on central locking fob for instance...
