  1. Possible that the mech has gone on the boot lock. Open it up and I spec it all and double check the wiring. Boot should unlock with remote locking and with the key in the door and finally with the button on the drivers door.
  2. Don't really like recommending FB groups as I can't stand the place, but there are a few MK1 groups, so I'd just recommend joining them all. Haven't seen a WRC for sale for some time. The last two I know of were sold by Manny on here.
  3. Need to be on the WRC FB groups.
  4. With the above it isn't to bad at all, in this case I think it's just the age of the car and the 'expected' general maintenance. That wouldn't be enough for me to justify getting rid of it.
  5. It’ll sell, there’s always someone who wants one of these. People that know about them, love them.
  6. Ah that's a shame, you'll find it hard to replace the MK1 VRS.
  7. There's a Yellow MK1 for sale in Kent atm for £800. Gentleman has owned it for 14 years and it's currently on 158k. Even has a sunroof!
  8. https://7zap.com/en/catalog/cars/Skoda/brand/17/0/Octavia/Octavia (1997 - 2011)/ Find your engine code in the list and you can get all the part numbers.
  9. I may know someone who will break theirs soon, not a guarantee as he's unsure but, if I get the seats (dibs) I'll tell him to hold the door cards, etc for you.
  10. A very rare option at £1500, I've got it on my MK1 VRS, along with Xenons.
  11. I believe it comes complete as one - Part No. AOC401001 If you have the satnav with the larger round aerial - Part No. 1U0035507A Double check these with TPS or Skoda.
  12. All the part numbers you need here: https://7zap.com/en/catalog/cars/Skoda/brand/17/0/Octavia/Octavia (1997 - 2011)/Skoda/bTFQVnhZWWZINmduNndFYWIveHVCdz09--/6bbffde8b5b8077d2d0a5796da6eea3c:4765bfbd97a7b1ab02d61a712a524a3b/manufacturer/8/202823100::823010
  13. Might be worth asking Skoda Norway, I'm sure there will be someone who works in the garage who used to work on the old MK1's.
  14. It's been a talked about on here (a lot), but I've had 4 MK1 VRS's (two of which I've still got) and I've got a MK1 Octavia Estate L&K and none have had alarms. The most we got was an Immobiliser, and yes while there are Alarm settings within VCDS (Vag-Com) as you can change the country to set the volume of it, we never had it in the UK. I'll double check my paperwork and see if it was an optional extra, but I'm pretty sure we it wasn't. *2)The characteristics of the visual and audible signal may differ according to the country... The above is on the same page, it wasn't an option in the UK. However, you may find that the hazards flash which is due to the internal interior monitor. If you can call it an alarm, it's very basic. Some old posts: As for the door micro switch. This might be of some interest to you, it's a guide to replacing the door switch (which is built into the lock)
  15. @choclit18 I would've guessed it's coming from under the pollen filter behind the scuttle panel. So, take it all off, and remove the pollen filter and the plastic surround, to the right you'll see a small little grommet (if there is one), this goes straight to the back of the glovebox. Best way to see it is to remove the glovebox and look to the back and up (about 11/12 o'clock) and you'll see the sunlight shine through. I'd replace this with a new one which can be picked up from halfords or grab a whole load of ebay in various sizes. The tape as it is will do nothing...
  16. @David 8 I'll happily take it and keep it in my folder of spares on my Synology if that's ok? Wooooo 600 posts!
  17. The MK1's were never factory fitted with alarms. If you have an audible alarm or it beeps when you lock or unlock, then it will be aftermarket. So you'll need to find the maker of the alarm, sometimes there will be a speaker hidden in the engine bay somewhere and you'll see wiring going into the bulkhead somewhere.
  18. I think it really does depend on the person. A genuine and well looked after MK1 VRS, with low owners and proof of full service history will fetch around £2000. I completely agree about the TAX on these though, hence with my two they're off and declared SORN as they don't get used much as I have a L&K daily diesel. However, I am keeping mine for both nostalgia and the fact that they're or will start getting rarer. Far to often I'm seeing them being broken for spares which is a real shame, so that will no doubt push the price up once these hit 20/25 years (for the later models). So, you've got to weigh it up, car for life and keep it. Or, sell it and move on? It will depend on how much you care for it.
  19. Completely different, if you can’t source a MK1 then get yours repaired.
  20. This is because no one really posts on AT, unless your a trader. All the MK1's for sale (of decent and low mileage) are on FB, especially the MK1 groups. Just in the last month there have been sub 90k miles for sale. FB is were I found my Red VRS, if it wasn't for that this place I would've never of found the spec I was looking for. So it's well worth having a snoop around there.
  21. Ah! The same as me with my recent purchase. Welcome to the TDi L&K club. 😍 Never had a diesel before, what's your average MPG? I get between 58-62MPG (and that's with a hole in the exhaust haha), so I'm wondering what others get in the estate.
  22. @Solly They clearly don’t know! What did you get in the end?
