  1. It's been a talked about on here (a lot), but I've had 4 MK1 VRS's (two of which I've still got) and I've got a MK1 Octavia Estate L&K and none have had alarms. The most we got was an Immobiliser, and yes while there are Alarm settings within VCDS (Vag-Com) as you can change the country to set the volume of it, we never had it in the UK. I'll double check my paperwork and see if it was an optional extra, but I'm pretty sure we it wasn't. *2)The characteristics of the visual and audible signal may differ according to the country... The above is on the same page, it wasn't an option in the UK. However, you may find that the hazards flash which is due to the internal interior monitor. If you can call it an alarm, it's very basic. Some old posts: As for the door micro switch. This might be of some interest to you, it's a guide to replacing the door switch (which is built into the lock)
  2. @choclit18 I would've guessed it's coming from under the pollen filter behind the scuttle panel. So, take it all off, and remove the pollen filter and the plastic surround, to the right you'll see a small little grommet (if there is one), this goes straight to the back of the glovebox. Best way to see it is to remove the glovebox and look to the back and up (about 11/12 o'clock) and you'll see the sunlight shine through. I'd replace this with a new one which can be picked up from halfords or grab a whole load of ebay in various sizes. The tape as it is will do nothing...
  3. @David 8 I'll happily take it and keep it in my folder of spares on my Synology if that's ok? Wooooo 600 posts!
  4. The MK1's were never factory fitted with alarms. If you have an audible alarm or it beeps when you lock or unlock, then it will be aftermarket. So you'll need to find the maker of the alarm, sometimes there will be a speaker hidden in the engine bay somewhere and you'll see wiring going into the bulkhead somewhere.
  5. I think it really does depend on the person. A genuine and well looked after MK1 VRS, with low owners and proof of full service history will fetch around £2000. I completely agree about the TAX on these though, hence with my two they're off and declared SORN as they don't get used much as I have a L&K daily diesel. However, I am keeping mine for both nostalgia and the fact that they're or will start getting rarer. Far to often I'm seeing them being broken for spares which is a real shame, so that will no doubt push the price up once these hit 20/25 years (for the later models). So, you've got to weigh it up, car for life and keep it. Or, sell it and move on? It will depend on how much you care for it.
  6. Completely different, if you can’t source a MK1 then get yours repaired.
  7. This is because no one really posts on AT, unless your a trader. All the MK1's for sale (of decent and low mileage) are on FB, especially the MK1 groups. Just in the last month there have been sub 90k miles for sale. FB is were I found my Red VRS, if it wasn't for that this place I would've never of found the spec I was looking for. So it's well worth having a snoop around there.
  8. Ah! The same as me with my recent purchase. Welcome to the TDi L&K club. 😍 Never had a diesel before, what's your average MPG? I get between 58-62MPG (and that's with a hole in the exhaust haha), so I'm wondering what others get in the estate.
  9. @Solly They clearly don’t know! What did you get in the end?
  10. Must’ve been you that I saw on FB with it, as I assumed it was a for sale thread. Enjoy the VRS mate, lovely cars these.
  11. EXACTLY THIS! I was trying to watch the rev counter and he wasn’t even going fast or rev’d it past 4K. They’ve got a terrible flat spot between 4K-5K which plays havoc with mappers and they do generally feel slow even when ragging them. I guess at the time they felt fast as there wasn’t to much out around them times, unless you went for big money.
  12. This was for sale recently with a lady as the last owner. Take it you just picked this up?
  13. Video has a lot of errors and found it a little hard to watch with half the video not in focus. But, good to see that people still do love the VRS.
  14. As long as it’s from a MK1 yes, and not a very early MK2.
  15. The above works fine, as does an R32 wheel which some prefer. It has been known that you can fit a MK5 Golf wheel, but you'll have to put up with the paddle (if it has it). Example here: As it's the same platform, I can see no reason as to why this won't work.
  16. Try this, and also a gearbox oil change.
  17. Very easy is you look at it and look for the screws. I recently did it and took no more then 10 mins 2 screws at the bottom, and 4 screws I think behind the glass (torx) and the plastic covers lifts away.
  18. Welcome, if you're sticking to the standard Turbo you'll only see around 230BHP/240BHP at a push, unless it's a recon and a new actuator fitted. Over the years to upgrade are the K280 or the K300 turbos with this you're looking into using stronger rods etc. There're loads of info on here so just search for 'MK1 turbo upgrade' Here is the usual rundown on what to do with stage 2.
  19. Absolutely as I’m always looking around.
  20. Many of us were after that and it was sold within the hour. The only way you’ll get one now is if you do a conversion yourself or keep a look out for one on here and the fb groups.
  21. Could well be, best to get it checked out by the garage. Mines just gone but I am stage 2 so I was expecting it. Also, mine crunched in 2nd/3rd gears.
  22. Even more annoying you’re so far away! I have the same colour... Best of luck with the sale.
  23. Yes there is a lot of interest I believe. It’s a shame you’re so far away as I would take a few parts of you if it was to be broken. I think the most expensive parts on it are going to be the Xenons and the full leather interior plus the carpet. The interior is what I’ve seen a lot of people get for their vRS As they prefer the leather with black carpet. People are always looking for spare parts on these. I know a guy currently breaking two of these. Once the most the above has gone its quite hard to shift the rest I’ve found. So you’ll be left with a shell, doors, etc. I just recently picked up my L&K estate. If you intend on keeping it, do it up and save it.
  24. Purely because it’s white. But it’s sold already. Less than an hour.
