Impending vRS 230 purchase (pre-FL)!
I switched tyres from the original Pirelli's to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Far better grip than the Pirelli, especially important since I had the car stage one mapped to 329 bhp. Maybe one day you will also have your motor mapped. If you think it's fast now, wait and see what fun you are going to have on a quality stage one map. I am not a boy racer either, not at 67 years old. But it's nice to have that extra power on odd occasions. Enjoy your car mate. I just love them and this one is my second Octavia VRS TSI.

Black Badging
Hi Noms. From my experience I had no major problems with my order. I ordered the badges around August last year. They took about 2 weeks to arrive. There were no additional costs, as I paid the quoted price on their website. However, the badges from Superskoda are fairly expensive, but they do look quality, not rubbish Chinese knockoffs. They did make one mistake with the order, giving me a bolt on front VRS badge instead of the glue on one I ordered. This they exchanged once I sent the bolt on one back. When you take your own front glued on badge off, make sure you warm the badge up first. Soften the glue and then you have to give the badge a fairly good pull to get the thing off. I then used araldite glue to put the new one on after I roughened up the plastic surface first. Just get the badge straight mate!

Lane Assist on pre face-lift, does it work?
Lane assist, hate it and it's been turned off since I bought the car.

Noise after remap???
My Octavia was stage one mapped and there is no difference in noise since, just far more power. Hopefully some of the real tech/engine guys here might give you an idea what it might be.

Superskoda
3 weeks ago I ordered front and rear mud flaps for my Octavia. They arrived 10 days after the order was placed. So no problem for me from Superskoda.

Black Badging
I have an Octavia, not a Superb, but I replaced some badges with colour matched ones and with the VRS ones, I replaced them with black badges. The rest I just left off for good. I just do not like chrome. I bought mine from Superskoda, a bit expensive, but I wanted quality ones not cheap ones made in China.

Windows open after car is locked.
Could it be that you had the keys in your pocket and accidently held some pressure on the key fob open button. As you might or might not know, if you hold the open button on most key fobs too long, it not only opens the car but drops all the windows down at the same time. This happened years ago with a Mazda. I must have pressed my pocket with the keys in against something and found the next morning the windows had dropped down. Always take my keys out of my pocket now as soon as I get home.

Navigation and reverse sensors intermittent failure
Update-- Just had the car into Skoda to look at the problem. Of course they looked at any codes and found only one, stating my key fob battery needed replacing. I replaced this battery a couple of weeks ago, so just an old code. They did say they have had the Navigation problem once before with another customer and it was due to the NAV SD card being at fault. The SD card I was using at the time was an updated one I bought from a member on here a year ago. They also offered to update my original NAV SD card for me for free. As to the reverse sensor fault I had, they could not find anything wrong with the sensors. Maybe the sensor fault was a one off, but at least it is now on their system if it ever crops up again, especially after the warranty runs out middle of this year.

2014 VRS TSI Estate: Quantum Red Remap to 310bhp?
The standard clutch usually copes well with the remap, mine does and I am running 329bhp on the original clutch and a manual gearbox. From all I have read from owners who have had a stage one map, there are no problems with any part of the car. Just avoid too many racing starts and use the higher revs to build up speed, rather than the temptingly brilliant low down torque. I also now use 97-99 Ron fuel every fill. Low Ron fuel in mapped cars can cause engine problems, as the guy who mapped my car confirmed to me. I also agree completely with what Kenai says about insurance.

Doors frozen shut
Like some of the other posts here, silicon spray all the door rubbers. Never had a problem with my doors when I spray the rubber door seals at least once a month.

When did Amundsen change from MIB1 to MIB2?
Cheers mate. I though my vehicle must have the Gen 2 MIB. Just ordered an SD card for the Gen 2.

When did Amundsen change from MIB1 to MIB2?
I have just found the answer to my question, MIB GEN 2.

When did Amundsen change from MIB1 to MIB2?
I only ask because I want to buy another Navigation SD card and want to make sure I get the correct one. I am assuming by my Octavia being a 2018 model, it must be an Amundsen MIB2 system. Some of you more technical guys probably know. The number on my old card is- 5LO 051 236AD.

Navigation and reverse sensors intermittent failure
That is really great of you mate. Last time I upgraded the maps, I cheated. I bought an upgraded SD card from Rustynuts. Saves me making a mess of it myself.

Navigation and reverse sensors intermittent failure
Hopefully an update will fix it. As it's booked into the dealer on the 1st of February, as well as me being not so good with tech, I will let them sort it. Hell, I have only just worked out how to use an abacus. LOL. Thanks guys for your help and information. Will update this post to state any improvement after my garage visit.

Navigation and reverse sensors intermittent failure
Hi varaderoguy. Thanks for your help. Here is a photo of my unit. I pressed menu and held and got this screen up. Did not see the word firmware, so pressed "HMI versions" instead. The next 2 photos are what came up on the screen. Did I press the correct one for the information needed?

Navigation and reverse sensors intermittent failure
Something strange happened to my vehicle this morning. I tried to input a post code into the navigation, but although there was initially a map on the screen, it refused to find the address, or any address. Turned the ignition off and on again, no joy. Had to use an old garmin nav to find the address. When I got there, I had to reverse up close to a low wall. Although the sensors started to pick it up, once I got a couple of metres away from the wall, the sensors went quiet and the screen stopped showing how close I was. Very odd. 4 hours later it was just the same for my drive home. However, half way home I thought I would input my address and it worked perfectly, odd! Although I have it booked into Skoda under a warranty claim the week after next, I just wondered if any other member has had something similar. Hopefully a code has been made and they still find the fault, even if it is working again. The reverse sensors however, are still not fully operational. I tried putting a box behind the car when I got home and when I reversed close to it, again sensors stopped seeing the object. The box is about 17inches high by 24 inches wide. Or 43cm X 61cm in modern language. In the past the sensors would have gone to red before I got too close.

Police Octavia VRS
I was just hoping you had driven a petrol MK3 in the force. You are right though, they are brilliant.

Police Octavia VRS
I am sure you will just ignore any police haters, although I have never read any on this site. Respect to you for doing a great job in this weird world at the moment. If you also managed to drive the previous VRS, how does this new one compare?

FL Led headlight condensation
I also get a little misting inside my LED headlights at times. Had the same with my previous Octavia VRS as well. Seems to be a normal thing with these motors.

Looking to buy Octavia vRS 2011 - what to look for?
My last car was actually a 2011 Octavia VRS TSI. Such a great car I bought another VRS but a MK3, as you can see. You might already know they do have great engines but there is one problem, the timing chain tensioner was known to let loose and bang goes your engine. Skoda cured this problem in the middle of 2012. When I had mine as preventative maintenance around 50k miles, I had new timing chains and the the latest tensioner fitted. The motor ran perfect until I traded it in at 104k miles for the VRS I have now. Hopefully the tensioner has been changed already, might be worth checking. Cost in the UK to have it all done was around £650.

Acceleration issues after remap.
Hi all. The issue on my previous Octavia VRS TSI was slightly different. Once mapped by Shark, who are now Racingline, the power was great until you hit 6k revs. Then it really held back with a horrible misfire. If you held it at 6k revs, it went into limp mode. Once the engine was turned off and on again, it ran smooth again, but still with the high reving problem. The mapper tried all sorts of things, in fact on one of these trying occasions he had my car for two weeks. Changed plugs, fuel pump at the tank, as well as the one on the engine. Changed coil packs fuel filter, all to no avail. In the end he had to detune the power of the map at the higher revs. That meant it put loads of power down until you got to 6k revs and then it trailed off to hardly any power at all. I got round it by just changing up a gear a bit earlier when giving it some stick. It was still like that when I sold it for the VRS i have now. Have any of you guys with these problems got your car on a rolling road yet with a VW expert looking at the problem?

Boot lighting
Sorry I don't know the output of mine. I just know they light up the boot far better than the standard bulbs. I have just looked on their website and they are showing as 600k output. LED Interior Light — AUXITO

Boot lighting
Hi courty. I replaced my interior and boot bulbs with some LEDs. At first I bought some fairly cheap ones from ebay, but found once they turned off, there was a very faint glow from the bulb. Learned the lesson of buy cheap buy twice, So looked again and bought some AUXITO LED bulbs at £15.44 for two, so bought 6. Had them in the car now for well over a year and they have worked great ever since.
