Accelerator pedal problem 1.4TSI DSG
darrenw replied to dialled's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Reported. Spambot by the looks of it. -
Mine has free servicing on the order form. If you haven't already, check to see if it's listed there
-
Which side was the condensation and how much? If it's on the inside, you may have water ingress somewhere.
-
Take it back and kick up a stink. If they were replaced under warranty and then 2 days later they leaked again, then the fault is still outstanding as the new lights did not resolve it.

Car under warranty, Dealer charging for Diagnostics?
darrenw replied to nickg123's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Get thee into Ashmore Green. Never been charged for diagnostics or a "quick look at..." -
A tip on here somewhere which I followed and it works. Hockey puck with a V-slot cut in it. As it's a plastic/rubber compound, the head of the jack digs in to stop slipping.

Could be dried leaves in the housing. Remove the pollen filter and put it on the lowest speed for a few seconds to see what pops out.
-
This might require some surgery. Problem is, opening any panels will mean breaking the warranty seals.

I thought you were going to say "and then I saw the blue strobes in the grille...."

Depends. What was he waving?

£1000 plus for an ecu! please help
darrenw replied to iggy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
I you do need one, and it's by no means a sure thing, get the dealer to see about a out-of-warranty goodwill gesture from SUK. Failed after 4 years isn't good. Always worth asking, especially if low mileage and main dealer serviced. -
Drain and make a diluted mix of warm water and either bleach or babies bottle sterilising solution. Refill bottle with mix and in 3 second bursts activate the washers, including tailgate. Repeat and then flush with clean water. Refill with washer fluid diluted to recommended amount and activate washers to prime system. Finally rinse/wash all traces of bleach solution off.

Control unit under rear seats - melted!
darrenw replied to sam_underhill's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
On a 2010? Free would be more like it... I too would be more worried about why it melted, especially that close to the fuel tank. -
Supaguard was offered to me but I didn't even bother reading the leaflet as there is no way these products can live up to the hype (IMHO), A proper cleaning regime using quality products is cheaper and produces a far better finish. As for letting the kids clean it -Nuff said

Cheers. It doesn't look very sturdy.

GSM III to GSM III+ Retrofit or firmware upgrade?
darrenw replied to Bizango's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Last I heard, SUK didn't even know. Mine is due its first service next month so I'll try to find out then, unless anyone else knows. -
Only the estate has the 12v in the boot. There are a few threads on how to do a DIY install.

Has anyone got the parcel shelf storage bag fitted to their Octavia hatch? I'm trying to find out how much room it takes up and how strong it is. Thanks

when other octavias getting daylight running lights
darrenw replied to lol-lol's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
You can, via Maxi-Dot, but they have to be enabled first. I had mine via my dealer and I now have the option myself. -
I don't think you can brake hard enough to active them. According to the manual, they activate if any of the air bags deploy.
