Best lowering springs and wheel spacers for mkIII combi vRS 4x4
Spot on mate. I put 20’s on and it just didn’t feel right. I run 12mm on the superb with 19’s now but they are a 46 offset and the Octy is 51. So I run the old octavia pictoris 18” wheels with winters on and 15mm spacers. Still looks right too

Yep 15 all round works well mate and you’ll not regret the H&R’s. If it’s a facelift model I think the rear was wider than pre fl so you might find 10mm on rear will do it

Best lowering springs and wheel spacers for mkIII combi vRS 4x4
I would go with H&R every time mate.. have used them on several cars including the octavia and now the superb and they are a nice compromise between comfort and practicality and handling. Have had mine fully loaded several times in the uk and Europe and it’s been spot on

Disc and pads
Really simple mate. AUTODOC app and order brembo coated discs and pads. If you want an up rated pad. Go for the brembo xtra option

Roof bars and box
Cheap Lidl universal bars and a 170 Exodus roof box. Biggest they do. It’s vast and is quite happy on an autobahn at ‘some speed’

Tried tuning
No complains here on my superb sportline with racingline. Used shark for my octavia and it was faultless so went to Ben (shark) at racingline when I needed the superb done and it is beautiful. Diesel obvs. also yes good reports of big fish tuning too and very good value for money

Remap - Steering weight
It’s in vcds defo and it’s about how much assistance you want it to have. Not sure what the channels are now but I can have a look if you like and let you know. It does make a difference but very subtle

Excessive Tyre Wear 4x4.
That guide is ace but I don’t imagine many wheel alignment places will move the subframe if camber is out on one side however it’s good to know there is some adjustment.. it does look like tracking or camber is out massively on yours... remember a standard laser tracker will not check for geometry. You need a proper 4 wheel alignment set up like a hunter or similar that uses cameras to measure every angle and give advice to the technician what to adjust and how..

Remapping
Fuel economy may improve a bit. depends on the insurance company. Ring them and ask them before you get it done. I had my 190 sportline 4x4 mapped by racingline. One of the more expensive tuners but very very good and reliable. A lot of money is spent on r&d and they also do lots of work for VW.. mine is now Running 235bhp and 540nm of torque

Anyone Else with Crap Paint?
Could the bonnet have had a respray prior to you taking delivery of it. Could have been damaged on the carrier

Is a Racingline map worth the extra money?
Have pm’d you mate... Tbf if it’s mapped properly you shouldn’t get any problems with the engine or drivetrain that you will need warrantee for. There is always the small chance a component fails (that’s not map related) just vw quality control. And in that case it will void warrantee because the car is mapped. Even tho it’s not the map that caused it.. remember though the cars that the staff at RL drive are still on finance and within warrantee but have had maps developed on them and still not failed. Including the 400+ bhp golf estate of bens that he commutes to MK in and uses as his daily

Is a Racingline map worth the extra money?
My shark map on the octy was at sharks head office in Mansfield. the racingline one on the superb.. I went to their head office at Milton Keynes and OH YES their dyno rolling rd set up is beautiful, it’s a cell lol.. the pics on their website are from mk head office. In fairness mine was used as development for the 190 diesel so was there all day. Service was impeccable and Ben And thee team were very welcoming and he was his usual knowledgeable self 😉

Is a Racingline map worth the extra money?
Yes absolutely worth the extra. Ben from shark is one of the software developers at racingline now and I went there for him to map my superb 4x4 190 sportline because shark did my octy when I had it... It is perfect now. 235bhp 540nm torque and a smooth as you like. But also reliability

Superb Sportline Brake options
Yes mate I just brought a set of callipers and carriers of eBay. It was a late night but it now. Think I laid something daft like 90 quid for the pair. They are the same as golf r or mk7 gti. Also kodiaq 190bhp petrol. But they won’t be painted. rears re also a compete carrier and Caliper. But again things like Passat r line bitdi or tsi are also the same https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323982277782 that’s one side https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153957966682 and the other. full front set for less than 200 quid. Winner

MPG. It's taking over my life.
Absolutely not a chance. Maybe if you are on a run... but the car stays parked at home haha. you perhaps could at 60mph.

Superb Sportline Brake options
They are defo 312. I have a mapped sportline 4x4 diesel and I changed front discs and callipers from 312mm for the 340mm set up and I use Zimmerman sport coated discs and brembo x pads... if you want standard or a little upgrade Just go for brembo or Zimmerman discs. Either brembo Coated (standard) or brembo xtra. Or Zimmerman sport coated. They are drilled though. Brembo do a standard pad and a mild fast rd pad called a brembo xtra. brembo also do a max disc which is grooved. personally I wouldn’t bother with Pagid. They seem very hit and miss. They were very Noisy when I had them but some folks like them. their fast rd and track stuff is superb but the standard ecp stuff is shoite

Meh’. Mapped 235bhp and 540nm diesel sportline 4x4. Long term average about 38 and on a 350 mile round trip the other day I got 41 mpg. Forget yr 50’s haha

Esc and traction control speed threshold
So. Managed to vcds code the esc and traction control to totally off with a long press. However it still annoyingly comes back on when I get to 60mph. Car is a superb sportline 4x4 with front assist Have asked on the superb bit but no one in there appears to be modding lol. Booooring so has anyone on here had this issue and anyway it can be switched off and stay off regardless of speed. This would be most useful for trips to a certain place Germany if you know what I mean
