3 of them is Fords and 1 is based on GM platform. Quite different cars from Felicia. All of them also had carburetted variants. What kind of pump did they use? My example was a VW, made in a similar era as Felicia and had similar Siemens injection system. And there was no switch that would prevent starting, unless it reacts to a larger force, than is needed to disassemble the pump itself. It'd have helped if you said which European regulation required the cutoff switch.

ECU controls the pump relay. The pump only runs when the engine is running, apart from priming before start. Thinking about that: Wasn't this requirement only for carburetted engines, that would run the pump any time the ignition was on?

What legislation are you reffering to?The Seat I've been talking about was a 1999 model as well. I found info about Fabia, it can disconnect the pump, but it works after power reset.

I have experience with a Seat Toledo that didn't start after a crash. The fuel pump body in the tank has split, disconnecting wires to the pump. I just had to assemble the pump to start it. Guess a similar thing could happen in Felicia? I'm not aware of any intertia sensors in Felicia without airbag.

The 1.2 3-cylinder provides more dynamics. Regarding handling, on a wet road, it could easily oversteer. Once I drove it in winter and it would switch between understeer and oversteer in the same corner. It was pretty handful. I've driven several fabias since than and they are all "nervous" handling and suspension comfort wise. Even compared to other PQ24 cars

Yes, 4-1 with very short run (basically just modified Felicia manifold) and outer cylinder runs facing each other. Also, the 44kW version was restricted by narrower intake manifold - with sharp diameter change going into head. I've driven that version, it was atrocious.

They didn't. HG was still failing and hydraulic tappets added another point of failure. The exhaust manifold probably couldn't be worse. And the chain tensioner was still missing. Overall, it was weaker with higher fuel consumption. And handling of the car was terrible.

Neutral, on dry asphalt, it was quite neutral. Don't even mention that. They worked really hard to make the worst car possible with the stuff they had.

Interestingly, my Felicia Estate would probably oversteer in these conditions. It happened numerous times when I was coasting diwnhill. I never got into understeer unless I pushed the gas mid-corner. Guess that's what heavier rear and stiffer rear springs do.

Yeah, it was a bit unclear - the car can be legally scrapped even before it gets physically to the scrapyard and at that point, it cannot go to a public road. It is indeed closest to the scrapyard wars they can go in the legal environment of CZ/EU and on public roads. If they could actually pull a car from the junkyard and re-register it, they'd do it for sure 😃 I don't like pointless abuse either, but this type atleast provides some sense of adventure to the involved and gives some purpose to a worthless piece of junk, which is status of 20yr old Skodas here. It's not just pointless destroying of stuff.

Yes, they get repaired to get there and back. They are not literally pulled from scrapyard, as they still have to be road legal, but cars around this price point usually end up there. And since they are registered, they cannot stay in the other country either.

I wasn't saying that it doesn't keep up with the 0.25s is not a "slight delay". You have at least 10 exhaust events in that period, how can you tell which one are you measuring? It doesn't matter what causes the delay, if you cannot see each exhaust pulse in the output signal, you cannot reliably tell difference between cylinders and you are measuring the engine as a whole. So the injectors have to be within spec for the engine to even work reliably. And if they are precise enough to keep the engine running, they are precise enough to measure fuel flow. Not perfect, but good enough. About as good as counting dofferential rotations to get the distance value, probably better.

A signal period - length of a repeating cycle of a signal. Lambda signal is somewhat square with regular interval. You said that the oxygen sensor can measure each cylinder In order for this to be true, the period of the output signal from the lambda probe would have to be shorter than exhaust duration of each cylinder, to reliably measure each cylinder. 250ms would be able to measure at most 4 exhaust strokes per second - which would be around 120RPM. That means that ECU doesn't have any way to detect which injector is out of spec, so signal on one injector is always identical to others.

What's signal period on a Felicia? From what I've found, it is around 250ms, that's not enough to measure each cylinder. As an engineer, you should know that any instrument needs regular calibration to maintain precision. The TC-6 at least allows for that, which is not the case of more modern factory solutions, that can drift by a half litre or more.. even flow meter wouldn't be perfect solution, as there are other sources of error, namely tire wear. So I agree, "perfect" was a strong word 😀 Reasonable precision comparable to other methods that a normal person can achieve, is a better description.

Point of gumbalkan is to get as cheap car as possible. They are saving cars from scrapyard for the last jurney. No amount of abuse is worse than a car press.

It's actually signal from two injectors, since the Simos ECU drives injectors in pairs. And I don't think it's able to adjust the other pair, since there's only a single lambda probe for all cylinders. That's why you can calibrate TC6 measurements by +-6%. If there's bigger deviation from reality, there are other problems to be solved than fuel flow measurements.

TC-6 is a trip computer sold as original acessory. There's variant TC-6P with locked calibration menu and consumption reset - that hints its original purpose, to monitor fuel consumption on company vehicles, in times when fuel theft from a company car was very popular way to save some money It takes signal directly from the fuel injector and tachometer and it can be calibrated for almost perfect accuracy.

They are not certified for 9U type caddy, so they weren't tested in anything that would be close to Felicia. They are still not legal, but they should at least provide proper beam shape

Any bulb that uses a blue filter to achieve whiter light is not an upgrade. They are blocking part of light. And any H4 with higher wattage is not street legal and may damage the headlamp. Osram bulbs achieve whiter light by pushing the filament to limits - this is why they are much more sensitive with a shorter lifespan, but they actually produce a bit more light in the visible spectrum. How much - who knows, it'd be interesting to see actual measurements.

They didn't last long, they are running hotter than the standard ones to achieve higher output. I wouldn't recommend them for cars without DRLs
