  1. As I said I am not goint to go crazy, just want to drive around the circuit to say I have, it's a tourist day not a track test day so plenty of camper vans etc going around. Will drive a bit briskly but will not go mad as I said, anyway, I am a crap driver so no point in venturing outside my comfort zone.
  2. I would normally say that but I have some laps of Nurburgring booked at the end of the month! Not intending to go crazy, I am not a good enough driver for that, but should be interesting to see how it handles, in sport mode of course don't think I'll go around in comfort!
  3. Coming from three E class mercs in the last fifteen years I must say that the ride is much better than any of them, including one that had the air suspension option! That car btw, was a full loaded car with every single available option fitted, I bought it at 2 years old in 2008 but had the original invoice for it, £52K in 2006! Wouldn't like to think how much a fully loaded E class would cost now but I do know I have as many if not more options on my Superb than that car had.
  4. My 280 had a list price of over 38K, although I did pay less than this with some discounting. I bought it after 15 years of E class ownership (3 cars) if I had bought an equivalent specced Mercedes it would have been well over 50K and I would not of got 4x4 or a high performance engine. I think that buying a fully optioned E class is what has to be questioned, the Superb is a bargain compared, and to my mind as good as if not better in some areas (comfort for one). Also configured a Passat with the same options at the time of purchase two years ago and it was 10K dearer for what is essentially the same car and you couldn't even get one with a proper petrol engine! Also my car has been absolutely perfect with no faults whatsoever.
  5. Driven at up to 140mph in Germany and car was solid as a rock, felt the same as doing 40mph. As Billyjim said maybe the setup of the 280 helps.
  6. Interested in enabling this, will this do the job?
  7. Yet to see another 280 on the road after nearly two years of ownership.
  8. Just checked mine and it is perfect, just like the rest of the car.
  9. Never had a single rattle or squeek, in fact never had a single problem with the car it is perfect.
  10. Big diference in tempratures, 9.5C on the top one and 27C below, could make a difference?
  11. Seems it's not getting the 280hp engine though.
  12. Lease runs out at the end of March 2019 so might be about the right time.
  13. This was not available when I bought mine in 2015 When the lease finishes next year I will consider a hybrid Superb if it is avaiable.
  14. Yes was just about to say the same, did not even have to consider a Passat as there are no petrol models.
  15. Maybe the spare wheel takes up space where the rear axle would is on a 4x4. Not having a spare (space saver or otherwise) would be a make or break for me when buying a car, I would not even go down the shops for a pint of milk without a spare on board. Especially as me and kerbs have a very close relationship!
  16. Still have not been able to find the capacity of the new estate with the seats down, the previous model was really bad, but the last of the Vectras was huge, big as an E class at the time. As you say, what are the GM designers thinking, most people by estates for their load capacity not 'cause they look 'cool'
  17. I wanted every extra as well, at first the dealer started to go through all the options and it took him a few minutes to realise that I just wanted every box ticked! Still did not get the Smart Light Assist or the correct wheels though as he got a bit confused! I hate to have a blanking plate where a switch should be.
  18. Saw four of the new Insignia Estates on the M25 this morning, badges taped over and some light disguise around the lights, but unmistakenely Insignias. Hope they have more cubic capacity in the back than the old one, a friend of mine had one as a loan car last year and could hardly get anything in it! Looked at them on the conigurator and you can get a fully equipped petrol 260hp 4x4 for around 35K, bit of competition for the Superb I reackon. ......oh..... and you can get them in more than a shade of grey!
  19. On the last E class merc I had my right thigh would ache so bad after a couple of hours driving that I could hardly stand up when I got out. No amount of adjusting would cure it. My Superb (L&K leather, heated and ventilated) seats are great, I can do six hours or more without a break and get out like a spring chicken! I guess if your body shape/size etc does not suit the car then there is not much you can do about it.
  20. Got so fed up with mine opening that I altered the key so it could not happen!
  21. I have used the space saver and had no problems when the fixed tyre was put back on, just reset the system, obviously had to do it a few times, as is normal, while the tyre settled back in but no other problems.
  22. None of the wheels have sensor valves that is not how the system works. It work by counting revolutions of the wheel over a set distance using the anti lock braking system. Once it is set by the owner the revolutions are constantly monitored, to few or to less will register a change in pressure and a warning will come up on the dash.
  23. He did write a good review a couple of months ago and in the next weeks column said he liked it so much that he had put an order in for one, as far as I know bought and paid for. This week he said he had taken delivery, seemed pleased with it. He writes in the 'Mail on Sunday' Personaly, I cannot stand the man whether it be on the radio, TV or reading a newspaper column, but he seems to know a good car when he sees one
