  1. Morning JR. There I was typing and you arrived first🤤
  2. Hey guys, dont get confused between light assist and smart light. If you have bi zenon then you have AFS which is what changes the light pattern and you see the dance on start up. You can add light assist which is the simple auto switch between high and low. Smart light assist is a different assembly altogether and is the unit with 'shadow' technology where full beam is on all the time and the area is adjusted to blank out sections. There is a thread on here from one of your compatriots who has retro fitted the smart assist headlamp assembly.
  3. Wheel sizing is an issue with a lot of the UK market. I can understand some differences in spec caused by the fact that we drive on the correct side of the road but wheel and tyre size? I blame motoring journos for 'confusing' the marketeers into thinking it is what Joe Average, family man, old f**t wants. I would love it if all gave a choice to stay smaller if I want. I have never met a dealer who would swap out to different size wheels at p.o.s. or later.
  4. ^^^^^^ Not meant at the mods. Sorry didnt see your post before responding
  5. Q.E.D https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3D1q9JXAF2uFU&ved=2ahUKEwiphoOOzJXjAhVlRBUIHY2EBMYQFjABegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw3_GJOgyBStgycv3KTDwGe7
  6. @BriskodaJeff Yes. But it does depend on how you buy or "borrow" your car and justify your expenditure of course. I have a quote for a Volvo S90 Inscription Plus T4 (190hp) with about £1000 of extras and first 3 services. (and Volvo services are expensive!) £4k deposit from me plus £307 per month for 48 months. So if I keep it just for the PCP then £18736 in total. If I keep it and pay the GFV I pay £35500 in total. All possible due to the 0% finance deal. If I spec a similar S3 L&K (not easy as the 220 psi isn't available) I am guessing I would be paying somewhere north of £400 a month so the PCP is at least £23200 and end up with a total price of about £35000 (assuming a 10% retail discount) As I said the Skoda figures are an estimate and it is difficult to exactly match the specs (e.g. no DCC with Volvo) BUT the S90 is a totally different class of car to the Skoda I have to admit. In terms of interior quality and ride comfort it is in a different class and is costing me at least £100 a month less. So as with all figures, lies, damn lies and stats I have just used one example. Not saying that is the deal I have done. With 0% finance there is no need to use such a large deposit for example, whereas reducing your deposit with Skoda raises the cost even higher
  7. @jamos316 30 minutes or 30 seconds? The safe home lights will stay on up to 30 seconds ( to light the way to your door for example). You can set this or disable the function in the infotainment centre somewhere (sorry cannot remember where right now)
  8. I agree witn xman. I have had 2 superb 3 and both have been great value deals and decent cars. However, the s3 is now pricing itself out of the equation for my next car later this year. The deals are not there anymore. 5.9% on a PCP when some 'more premium' marques are offering 0% +sizeable retail price discounts+finance contribution. Shame but I will have to follow the best deals; sort of swings and roundabouts I guess.
  9. I find it almost impossible to imagine a situation where a court would agree the breach as significant enough to warrant complete cancellation resulting in significant cost for the business. You may prove correct but I am not sure I would test it. The costs aspects to the OP for cancellation are covered, in the main, within the contract although they do seem to have added some that are not specifically mentioned. Of course, if this was a contract within the distance selling rules it would have been much easier for the OP to simply walk away. There is also the question as to whether the salesperson was "a duly authorised representative" to agree any additions tothe standard contract terms.
  10. I do wonder at all this dealer/stealer bashing on car forums. Yes, they appear everywhere. BMW.Audi.Volvo.Jaguar.Ford.Vauxhall, Mazda and any other make you can think of. In this case, a simple issue with communication prompts a cancellation?? Sorry but that to me is really OTT. Have any attempts been made to complain formally to the Sales Manager/Director about this failure? If not why not? I am not at all surprised at the response of the Company. Is it an indicator of how the Company may perform on after sales/service? How can you possibly know that from this one event? It may be just one poor salesperson or one slip that needs to improve and unless you have complained them that is never going to happen. I get that for an individual it is a large committment both financially and emotionally. For the busines it is a one off sale. They have no guarantee that you will use the after sales/service or that you will repeat business within a few years. In fact these days it is more than likely that you will not use them. Put bluntly, you probably don't even register on the 'might be important' list. So for me that means taking responsibility for building a working relationship with the sales staff NOT just expecting it will come from them. As long as the sales staff are polite, listen and are prepared to deal then that is customer service to me (as far as a sale is concerned) Once ordered, all I expect is to be kept up to date when there is something to tell me but otherwise why do I need to talk them? p.s. going uprange is no guarantee of excellent service. The worst experience I had was with Aston Martin. They seemed to think it was a privilege, to be allowed to buy, that was not offered to many.
  11. I didn't say the issue of pollution was esoteric; the on-going discussion is. You are simply trading blows over macro versus micro with the obvious outcome for both of you.
  12. I am beginning to wonder whether there should be a stop/start switch for esoteric discussions on forums.
  13. @AKASILVERBACK It's about the specification of the oil NOT the cost. If the oil meets the required spec (e,g VW 507) then it is the cortrect oil. Just like other commodities you can find various prices for what is essentially the same thing. Supermarket petrol for example??
  14. Still my favourite colour with beige and those anthracite wheels. Gutted when I had to change mine to find that it was 'no longer available' as a choice. Good to see that the lustre has lasted so well. Mine from back in 2016
  15. @Chrisis. Yes I agree but my point was that you can find that sort of feedback about almost every retailer so don't let that put you off. After all, people are more likely to post to complain than to commend. And I know what will happen now if I am not careful; you will order, have problems and my ears will be burning for a year at least. Enjoy your Superb when it arrives. I don't have any qualms about recommending the Superb to you.
  16. Comment above is by Chrisis NOT Bap33 And how do you know that it is UK when on ebay? A business address listed as UK does not mean your goods are coming from the UK Superskoda is as trustworthy and efficient as any UK retailer. They have supplied to me quicker than stuff from UK dealer based websites.
  17. Check that you havent inadvertently switched to sport ddive by 'flicking' the gear lever whilst in D position. You can toggle between D and S by pulling back on the lever.
  18. Aaaah. It's a his'n'hers. Couldnt agree on one colour. 😋
  19. Superskoda are OK. Genuine company and not an internet p1** take. Like all retailers they dont always get it right but I would say they are as good as any other reputable trader. Watch the carraige charge though as that can sometimes negate the lower price and make UK based suppliers competitive.
  20. I am more interested in how those bar code stickers have survived for up to 10 years when fixed in an external location ! I doubt they are anything to do with the date of manufacture. More likely some form of i.d. with a bar code date of ***** rather than a build date.
  21. Now, now boys and gals. Don't forget the proper Q car response is just to wave and smile gently. 😎
  22. There was a spate of bugs inside the assembly back in the early days of the S3. Several members posted on here IIRC. I had one and just left it to slowly turn to dust. Didnt interfere with the beam. Mine looked a little like a lacewing and 'lived' in the corner of my nearside headlight assembly until I sold the car in 2017. 3 weeks into the new car in 2017 and I noticed---yes you guessed it, another bug. And in more or less the same place and still there today. After all, every car has to have a few bugs or perhaps its another of Skodas 'simply clever' things. You know, 'let's see if any owner can work out how the blazes it got in there'. I dont worry about them but I am not OCD about the car.
  23. JR. Pleased to see you got it sorted. You will notice a great difference but I warn you that, at first, it can be mesmerising watching the changing patterns of the headlamp beams. Enjoy after all your efforts.
  24. I think Skoda call them transport blocks and often leave them in for customers
