  1. Yeah, tyre pressures are fine. Car has done 69k on 06 plate so not even that old really. Thanks
  2. Can anyone suggest why my vrs feels so harsh at the back end? I have the tyre wear issue (sawtoothing) and I think this is causing a fair degree of vibration too, but the car feels really crashy. It has been like this for a while, but the springs and dampers are ok and the bushes seem to be fine. Is it just the bad Dunlops ruining the ride? Any information would be appreciated and also if anyone can recommend a decent indie in the Mansfield area I would appreciate it. Went to Jabba for cambelt and water pump change but can't justify the journey really for a basic service. (70k). They were excellent though,
  3. That is full on BS mate. Grit in the system my arse. Just got to look for a new garage now.
  4. I like it. But you've got to really like it to buy one. I should know, I've got a yellow MK2 Octavia vRS.
  5. I have Sport Maxx on the rear and they are sh*te. They are prone to the sawtooth issue more than most other tyres. I am having then demounted and swapped to the opposite side to even the wear and then replacing in the next 6 months or so.
  6. It's JBS mate. They're pretty well respected in VW circles. They don't do a discount for members and they can be a little pricey. I have had excellent and average experiences with them, unfortunately the latter more recently, but I would still take my car there. Seb is a decent chap and the technical guys know their stuff. I know that I bang on about Shark remaps, but you won't get a more honest man than Ben there. And, Mansfield not too far from Chesterfield. Phone him up and he will be able to advise I am sure. But phone, as he is always busy and won't mind me saying that he might not have time to reply to every email.
  7. There is adjustment that can be made on the rear. It just seems like they can't be arsed.
  8. Well done Grizzle. Nice to see you on here rather than on DW. Sure you will enjoy it... Now what about a remap?
  9. Just order from Paints 4 U. You will need your paint code.
  10. This is not a good idea really. There is a company called Dr Leather and they do about 150 wipes for 30 quid. I know it sounds expensive but they do work and do not extract essential oils. Conditioners do not really work on coated leather seats, it is all a bit of a myth that conditioners are required. Regular cleaning, even wiping with a damp cloth works wonders.
  11. Remember to tell your insurance! You will have a great drive back. Ben did mine and he is a credit to the industry IMO.
  12. Mine too and I don't think that you are in the minority.
  13. Where abouts are you based? A decent VAG group specialist would be my first port of call. Cambelt and waterpump should be done together and will cost around £400 and the service will probably be a longlife one at around £250. Hope that this helps.
  14. Just because this is the section that I tend to post in, I would like to wish all the members who have posted here the very best of seasonal greetings and best wishes for the New Year. Have a great Christmas all. Mat
  15. I always thought that the sensor was inside the passenger mirror.
  16. If the dealer has rotated the tyres, this could be the root of your issue. Rear tyres are notorious for odd wear patterns and even front tyres can wear different from each other. I would put them back where they were originally and see what you get. Sorry mate, but your attitude won't help you get a response.
  17. This really is a can of worms. From another site. Old values are: -1°45' ± 30' New values are: -1°20' ± 30' However, I am led to believe that it is not the camber but the toe in that is causing the sawtooth effect. Mine is the same and the geometry specialist that I saw explained this. However, certain tyres, Dunlop especially are prone to this wear, as mine are. I believe that Skoda have revised their settings to the original as drivers did not like the feel of the new settings.
  18. Worse still on the standard vrs where the oil is almost clear and you can barely see it at all. Just looks like water on the dipstick
  19. I would say that this is not, in general, a problem. I have a Vrs and I regularly check the oil. In my last car, I never ever checked the oil, neither did it use any. This one does, I just put it down to it being a performance engine, that requires some topping up. I prob use half a litre every 3-4,000 miles. If you're concerned, or it seems abnormal usage get it checked out.
  20. Ben has just completed a large remap group buy so I doubt you will see anything soon. Best give him a call.
  21. I have a Sprint Yellow Mk2 vrs. They are not metallic for a start.
  22. What about something caught in the brake shield against the rear disc. I had the same sort of sound and this is what it was. Obviously might not be that at all.
  23. Pretty sure that they only work with the rear screen demister also switched on. But, I'll wait for others to correct me on that.
  24. I have had quotes ranging from £350 to £440 for the cambelt and water pump.
