  1. That’s very cool! How much hassle was it to install/change all the lighting and what sort of cost?
  2. I found the stock system (no canton here) in my 2018 sportline was actually quite impressive with a decent thump but needed the bass turned right up to achieve this which I recognised was not gonna last long before speakers blew. Adding my existing (from previous car install) 12” sub in custom built (by me) twin ported enclosure with a 500w rms amp and LC2i signal converter has filled the sound in really well and was relatively cheap (£200 on top of what I already had). It has a seriously powerful punch (I know it will be FAR more potent than the paltry 6” sub in a canton) and has enabled me to run the bass eq flat. I do run mid and high a bit above flat but find it sounds perfectly acceptable to me now.
  3. Fronts usually have a sensor on the left side for wear. Rears are used by the adaptive cruise control braking so they wear more than the fronts. Mine were done recently at 28k miles as they were near the knuckle while the fronts are fine. As for changing you’ll require a diagnostic tool such as VCDS, OBD11, Carista etc to place the electric handbrake motors in the retracted position to change the pads.
  4. Yeah agree and the dsg is another one too, I drove my wife’s manual Fabia the other day and I’d never want to go back to a manual now even with the power my 280 has!
  5. Excellent choice! (From a 2018 sportline 280 owner) Plenty of help and info on here, wish mine had the wireless charging but I’ve got used to just plugging my iPhone in these days. Sunroof is a nice touch on mine though probably never get used....
  6. I thought they offered some sort of box as an optional paid extra that allows you to switch between stock and various fuel grade maps etc but I could be wrong. I just sent back my old bluefin handset (as they’re offering £55 buyback) as I don’t like the low figures they quote for the 280 engine hence wasn’t prepared to pay to have it reset and loaded for my current car but I did like having the option to take it off when required on my last car (140bhp diesel superb 2)
  7. I had similar last September with mine, the one I bought had already been on the Skoda site and disappeared then came back when the buyer pulled out. I saw it back available one evening and rang the dealer the next morning, was “persuaded” to pay £250 deposit to take it off sale for me and viewed the following morning. Glad I did as it’s a great car and got decent enough spec for me. There seemed to be more L&K ones about when I was looking but they still sell quickly. Keep looking and be prepared to move fast with a deposit if one comes up that looks right, you can always get it refunded if it’s a no go.
  8. I just had my rear discs and pads done. Purchased Brembo vented discs and pads from GSF during their st Patrick’s day sale for £131 delivered and was planning to do them myself as I have VCDS but got spooked when I had a look and discovered I didn’t have the correct 7mm socket to remove the callipers plus was unsure if the carriers also had to come off for the discs. In the end I had my trusted local independent fit them for me, £48 for the labour and he confirmed the carriers did not have to come off (so that’s on a 280 4x4 with vented 310mm discs) and the job went smoothly while I went for a cycle ride! Braking is all good and no issues, next time I’d be happy to do them myself now I have the 7mm short and long sockets, hopefully it’ll be another 3 years before they’re due though.... The fronts will be next but they have plenty of meat left on them so I guess the adaptive cruise is what’s seeing off the rears quicker.
  9. Oh yeah you’re right! That and the white interior would be enough to put me off!
  10. Yeah that part isn’t a problem, I did look at it last week and found I didn’t have the required sockets for the callipers (since purchased) but also because I had the brake fluid change done recently I know that will overflow when the piston is pushed back and it’s just another level of hassle I don’t want to worry about when I’m 10 miles from the nearest garage! Also the Erwin procedure doesn’t mention removing the calliper carriers (pretty sure they’d need to come off for the discs) but they require replacement bolts if removed so I’d rather let my trusted independent do it this time and maybe I’ll do the fronts myself when the time comes. I’ve done discs and pads before but I remember it being a pain on the rears while the fronts were easy... anyway, back to topic!
  11. That might explain why my rear pads are down to around 3mm then at 27k miles and 3 years. I’ve got the discs and pads ready but decided to let my local independent fit them rather than take a risk myself at home.
  12. That version should already have the mib2.5” though? My 67 plate 2018 one has!
  13. Pretty sure it can be done but not sure if it’s a diy thing or not. if you have a warranty then I’d suggest try a dealer as it should be covered. If not at least speak to them for an idea of prices
  14. Common problem on here, try a search. The fix is either a whole new gear selector assembly or a new micro switch modification. Dealers are aware of it and there is apparently a technical bulletin about it
  15. So is that also only twin pipes in total (one each side)? I do like the 4 pipe exit on mine, just wish it was more visible rather than the two exhausts look it has unless you are paying attention.
  16. Mine is on 26k and somebody (presumably dealer) has fitted budget tyres on the front while the back has Bridgestone potenzas. Luckily it is also having a full set of Michelin PS4 fitted tomorrow morning! What version have you got? (Doesn’t say in your profile) This is my second superb (mk2 before) and you’re right they are very good cars and don’t feel at all too big (or too lazy if it’s the 280 4x4!)
  17. Guess you can add powered boot lift with the button by the gear lever as an extra since mine doesn’t have that....
  18. I’ve had mine trigger several times, almost all of them have been not necessary as I was either already braking and would’ve stopped easily in time or things like a car stopped in front when I’m already about to move out and around it. it has saved me once in the last situation where a car pulled out of a right side junction while I was moving around a poorly positioned parked car (just before said junction!) and a couple of times when reversing and it’s stopped me hitting a verge and another parked car (280 power sometimes means reversing is a little quicker than expected...) as for the adaptive cruise it’s brilliant and set at either 2 or 3 (usually 3) it works very well and keeps a good gap. Sometimes it does brake a bit late but I usually cover the pedal just in case anyway so it’s never been a problem and once or twice it’s actually triggered the red warning auto braking even though it was already braking for the car ahead at the roundabout!
  19. Not sure about the other options but I used Carista for several coding changes on both mine and my wife’s cars and it was only about £50 all in I think for the dongle and a years sub. The price has gone up recently I think but still well under the £100. I believe obd11 is very good and also smartphone based but have no experience or pricing info on that. I now have VCDS so have let the Carista expire though the dongle is good for other free apps for logging things like 0-60 runs etc
  20. Mine has exactly the same, not sure if the dealer would consider it a warranty claim (but like the condensation inside the headlights that’s also common) but it can’t hurt to ask?
  21. I was the other way round, I wanted a sportline over the L&K as I prefer the looks and wasn’t fussed about the extras on the L&K like the DCC, canton or vented seats. each to their own, most of my friends who have seen the car (thanks Covid...) are impressed with how nice and well specced it is too.
  22. Can’t help you with the coding but I’ll be interested to see how you get on here. My wife’s 1.2tsi 16 plate doesn’t have front fogs and where we live (rural) it’s a bit useless without out them so for around £100 it might be a worthwhile retrofit if not too difficult. The part number for the switch shows one with auto headlights though which ours doesn’t have, does yours? Also what was involved with fitting them into the bumper and the wiring?
  23. Same here, I discounted several 280’s when I was looking last September due to cream interior or white exteriors! There was one in blue I liked the look of (my mk2 was a lovely metallic blue) but it had white interior and I know from my previous mk1 vRS that had white carpets how dirty it would look in no time especially now I have two kids! Keep looking and I’m sure you’ll find what you want, I actually discounted the one I ended up buying due to it being in Swansea (hour and a half drive from me) but a mate sent me the advert one night shift break time and that was it, seed was sown and I went to see it and agreed the deal within a couple of days edit, just looked on autotrader and there’s only 3 including the above mentioned L&K and a couple of sport lines. One white with canton and one grey like mine without it. Neither of the sportlines have the power boot from the looks of it and the grey one does have the rear wiper like mine and lists front and rear sensors but is missing the sensor button that mine has on the left side of the gear selector, not sure what that means though!
  24. Have you ordered brand new or used? That looks exactly like the MIB2.5 unit fitted to my 2018 which has a SIM card slot, two sd card slots and a dvd/cd player in plus a separate usb under the head unit. I believe the current models have done away with a lot of that and only have the usb but I could be wrong.
