Find me a Superb...
@budster that’s the same place I got my 280 sportline from in September, the salesman I dealt with there (Sam) was very helpful

Superb 280, improve none existent exhaust note?
Yeah I’d agree with that, I think my 280 sounds great when it is being floored and also has a nice burble when going up hills with a moderate bit of welly too (maybe it’s because I don’t have too many references for a nice exhaust note but I like this one...)

Superb Sportline - standard spec vs options
@Bap33 I tried the rear screen wash trick today for the rear view camera and was pleasantly surprised to find it works very well so cheers for the tip. I really should RTFM sometime....

Superb Sportline - standard spec vs options
Mine doesn’t have dcc and I find the ride comfort absolutely fine one up or family loaded. The front sensors are a godsend though so I’d hold out for those or at least enquire if they could be retrofitted as part of a deal - it’s a long car and very difficult to see where the front is without them. They also kick in automatically which is a nice touch when parking against a wall or when passing traffic closely in narrow road situations. The driving modes are all ok too, eco is fine when you’re trying to squeeze fuel economy but I find the constant coasting then jerking back on the power a bit annoying so rarely use it now. Drive is fine and sport is a hoot, once I discovered individual mode though I just set that up with everything on sport mode apart from the drive and that seems to be the best combination - still knock it into sport mode on the gearstick when I really want to shift but most of the time it’s not needed

Skoda Superb used car buying advice
Have to disagree on the estate looking better (each to his own!) but just had a look again on the Skoda used approved site nationally and our cars are rather rare still - there’s only one 280 on there and that’s over £23k! Cheapest is nearly £21k for a 272, glad I decided to go for it when I did and found my sportline 280

Superb Sportline - standard spec vs options
Looks nice spec that and very similar to mine minus the extra 60 horsepower and 4x4 few contradictions in the spec list though, the photo looks like it has the Columbus screen the same as mine rather than the “bolero” & “amundsen” which doesn’t sound right at all!

Yeah the power boot lid would’ve been nice (and I didn’t realise it was even an option not standard) but I’ve never had it before and I haven’t found myself wishing I had it either so far.

Decisions decisions...
As a new convert to the church of the 280 club I’d say keep it and enjoy it for what it is! I’m loving mine, accepting the lower fuel economy compared to the diesel mk2 140 (remapped to 170) and looking at a remap stage 1 in the future when I’ve paid for it and the warranty is up. if you want a track capable car then buy a weekend toy but since you appear to have already spent good money on decent mods I’d be sticking with it. never understand upgrading cars then selling them, as others have said you’re just giving away free upgrades to the next owner! a good friend of mine has had loads of fast fords, recently had an ST stage 2 mountuned to around 350bhp then chopped in for an RS which soon got a stage 1 to 375bhp. Next thing he chops it in for a bog standard Kuga! That’s around £5-7K of mods done that he will never get back no matter the fact he sold the cars for close to his original purchase price.....

Superb Sportline - standard spec vs options
Tough one but what one person considers essential is very subjective. this is my 3rd Skoda over the last 14 years (octy mk1 vRS, superb 2 diesel then the 280 mk3) and each has introduced something new while maintaining some common extras. parking sensors all around, octy had rear only, mk2 had all around with park assist (which was brilliant but rarely used) and the mk3 has just all around without park assist. I can live without that as I hardly ever used it but the front sensors I’d consider essential. Reversing camera is new on the mk3 but very very useful except when the lense gets covered with water. Heated seats - new to me on the mk3 but always wanted. Cruise control, all 3 have had it but the adaptive on the mk3 is another level and I’d never want to be without it now. Sunroof - mk3 has it, wasn’t advertised on the Skoda details (but was listed on the autotrader advert), didn’t want it, won’t use it but like the clear view above so it’s a bit “meh”.... kessy - again new on mk3, dubious before but love having it now apart from having to buy faraday pouches to keep the keys in to prevent the theft risk. Mine’s a sportline (top of my budget so couldn’t afford any of the 272 newer models) but doesn’t have the trick suspension though I find mine to be ok. didn’t like the less sporty look of the L&K models and the only one around was in black but with naff wheels and white interior (just no.....) so I was a bit limited. business grey sounds boring as hell but I absolutely love the colour now!

Excellent result from the looks of if!

Windscreen wiper behaviour
My 2018 sportline parks the wipers after I switch off the ignition - I was surprised it did to be honest but it definitely does. I have VCDS and would be happy to provide a log of the coding and adaptions map for this if someone can give me a clue which module it comes under? (I’m looking at doing a full dump of the adaptions possibly tomorrow morning if I have time for my own records against mods I’ve done with Carista since owning the car)

Remapped
I’d be happy with that result though as others have said there’s no way I will run my 280 on standard 95 Ron. I have to settle for Sainsbury’s 97 Ron super unleaded as it’s either that at around 114.9p a litre or shell v-power at around 129.9 a litre which is just crazy excessive and I’m sure I’d never notice an increase in power or economy to justify that. There is an esso garage local in the same town but I pass the Sainsbury’s going to work so that does for me. the nearest Tesco fuel is only 10 miles but in completely the wrong direction. I have a super chips bluefin handset from my last diesel superb that is actually the correct model part number for the 280 (or my wife’s 1.2 tsi) but the quoted figures of 332bhp and 438Nm are a bit on the low side for me plus with an engine of this performance level (audi s3 / golf R) I’m not sure I’d be happy to just flash it myself without a dyno before and after or a tuner’s experience to know it was a safe map. I trusted them with the old 140 diesel (and have gps logs of the performance to show the difference with and without) but this beast is a whole different animal!

Workshop only leave vehicle in P
This - VCDS U.K. supplier but it’s not cheap at £225 minimum (worth it though long term)

Is there a setting to make steering more direct and sporty?
Yeah I’d second this. My 280 sportline seems to react straight away to steering input even when being pushed hard

Workshop only leave vehicle in P
Wouldn’t open at all one evening trying to get in my work security gate! Discovered the one touch function (2nd position furthest press of the switch) is intermittent while the 1st position usually works but not always. I went through the reset process (open then close window fully and hold the button up for several seconds) on all four windows and it worked for about a day then went intermittent again. I managed to get VCDS screenshots of all four switches showing “implausible” status when pressed fully down and also got several videos showing them either not working or taking several presses before they did operate. Also found sometimes the window would “jerk” down while the button was held down steadily. luckily the dealer saw the videos and did their own tests to confirm it as a faulty switch cluster so it’s being replaced under warranty on Monday.

Workshop only leave vehicle in P
Sounds like a common issue, see this thread for a recent explanation: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/484926-gearbox-error-message/ yours is the same age as mine and you’ve done similar miles as me (got mine mid September) so I’m just waiting until I get this on mine.... already had the electric window switch failure that’s being fixed next Monday!

Driver side Electric Window Switches
Update today, dealer tech looked at it and they have agreed the switch unit needs to be replaced so it’s being ordered under warranty. Thankfully I had managed to take several videos showing it failing to operate properly including stopping and starting while lowering the drivers window when the button is held down so I was also able to show him those before he took the car into the workshop.

Where to buy aftermarket buttons for the gearlever-area
Can’t help specifically for the mk3 (I have one now but haven’t done anything on it like this) but I found the TPMS button for my old mk2 on AliExpress which fitted perfectly and worked fine. probably worth a look on there but no idea what type of logo you would find to suit your particular project from the original buttons that would have been fitted there....

Superb 3 Columbus Subwoofer Install
I found a fuse behind the glove box that switches on with the ignition and used a piggy back connector to supply the amp and my dash cam. Not sure which one but I can probably hinge the glove box down and get a photo if you haven’t got access to a multimeter?

Worst suspension in car ownership
I’m on factory fit 19’s and apart from the odd bang when hitting a bad bump (as I’d expect) mine seems fine to me. even though mine is a sportline it still is a barge but coming from a superb 2 se I can’t say I’ve noticed any worse suspension and the ride is great for me. I do throw it about sometimes too but haven’t felt it was near the limits ever

What have you done to your Superb III today?
You really think? I had the same one in my last superb and almost never ran out of boot space. when I first got this one and did the weekly food shop without the sub there was so much room it was ridiculous
