  1. He hasn’t confirmed that they did change it. He’s said “apparently changed” and “agreed to change”. 🤷‍♂️
  2. I know. With hindsight I think that might be what he meant too! And he’d only seen the tRump March press conference in front of TWH by the time he posted.
  3. Well, when you picked it up didn’t they say something like “We replaced the release bearing, that should have solved the problem. If you have any problems with it, let us know.” ? You’re being a bit avoidant about confirming that they actually changed the release bearing. Please just clarify about this.
  4. I may have missed the irony in his tweet! Oh well... (I love that Robert Duvall scene in Apocalypse Now too!)
  5. Proving himself to be exactly what the title of the thread describes him as. He’s mentally unsound, just look at these tweets tonight; his wee video. Where were the NG; DC Metro Police; Secret Service?! But Biden’s speech: “This is not the true America. This is not who we are” I’m afraid it looks like it is who you are now. Truly sad times for their style of democracy. Dan Rather’s tweet this morning didn’t age well!
  6. So the clutch shouldn’t be worn out (but still could be) . You say apparently changed the clutch, why aren’t you certain? Is there any paperwork on what they did under warranty? If they did replace it, something may have been left loose and is now free inside, things could go bad quickly. For me it would be go back to the garage fairly urgently.
  7. How many miles has the clutch actually done, what sort of driving conditions?
  8. Manual gearbox I see, dissimilar rotating materials of the clutch assembly taking differing amounts of time to warm up, I’d imagine.
  9. I’ve run a CTEK MXS 3.8 for a few years ( at least 5) on my Porsche when it’s in my garage over winter. No issues with it, reliable and well built. If I was buying again now I would probably go for an MXS 5.0 which has the automatic low temperature setting. Also better for Gel stop/start capable batteries, I believe.
  10. Isn’t “universal key” just a euphemism for a bloody big flat-blade screwdriver?
  11. Eco is pretty unanimously agreed to be useless for improving consumption in town or ‘mixed’ driving. The manual says it’s for a relaxed driving style. In a vRS? What’s the point!? I’d try Individual driving mode, perhaps just have the engine in Normal to overcome the intrusive engine sound aktuator noise. Keeping the gearbox in D rather than S will save you some fuel. I get mid 30s from my 220 vRS TSI in general driving.
  12. I know Columbus has AM Radio - FM/AM/DAB. Screenshot from owner's manual:
  13. Posting links from other websites classifieds is probably not allowed, but I just found listings for 24 used 245 vRS nationwide on Pistonheads .com. Only one at Lookers https://www.lookers.co.uk/nearly-new-car/skoda/octavia/2-0-tsi-245-vrs-5dr-dsg--black-pack-/id/296145
  14. It shows up here when the cruise control is switched off and for a short time after opening the driver's door. It's under the "mi".
  15. I’ve returned the Carly dongle now. Easy process, all online through their EU website, postage paid on the return label produced. Thee was no way I was going to pay upfront for their annual subscription based on what I saw from the test diagnostic check.
  16. I made an impulse purchase of a Carly dongle this week. It arrived today and I connected up to my Octavia III vRS to see what I can get from it without committing to the pretty pricey full-features subscription. I got emailed a report with a couple of VERY BAD! alerts that look like they've been in the system for quite a while. Nothing that numerous fault checks at Skoda main dealer Helston Garages have picked up. False positive alerts? Scanlog attached below I tried to connect to it with the Torque lite app but the connection wouldn't stabilise. Anyway I may just send it back within the 14 days and try something else because of the need to have the aforementioned subscription. Diagnostics Report.pdf
  17. The rear number plate lights are standard. I'm not a fan of the harsh blue white over-illuminated plate lights.
  18. Another tech update: All rear lights and front sidelights and indicators upgraded to LEDs. I can't see a route to LED headlights due to the pop-up light housing design and because they'd blind oncoming traffic, no EC approved aftermarket LED either. The front front fog lights/additional high beams could be done, but they're pretty decent already. Osram NightBreaker Unlimiteds fitted for the dipped/main beams. Rear tail lights and fog light (R) all LED Below: Old incandescent bulbs of varying ages and makes on the right. Even in daylight the new LEDs on the left look brighter.
  19. Really not worth the hassle, or expense. Go for a set of Osram NightBreaker Unlimiteds and you’re not far off the illumination of HID projectors without all the messing about.
  20. Cushions on car seats are dangerous. In a frontal collision the cushion and the sitter are propelled forwards and down and could slip with the deceleration and the sitter “submarines “ with it beneath the seatbelt. Car seats are designed to minimise this and putting a cushion on them totally defeats this feature. Defeating the purpose of seat heating is nothing in comparison.
