  1. My question would be why the need for it ?
  2. to be honest...............if the car is still under warranty.............then as long as its obvious the corrosion is coming from "within" whatever it is, there should be no arguement from any dealer.
  3. glad its sorted 👍 Out of interest...............how did you come to pull the switch of the interior light ?
  4. if the front side lights are working, then it must be bulbs as they are fed from the same connection in the wiring harness.
  5. Are the DRL'S still working ?
  6. really depends on budget. A decent "named" brand unit is going to be upwards of £800 + ............................like this for example.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KENWOOD-DNX518VDABS-VW-T5-SAT-NAV-BLUETOOTH-DAB-APPLE-CARPLAY-ANDROID-AUTO/182056592454?epid=16025582226&hash=item2a636b2446:g:6PUAAOSwRjxcCVLJ its the Apple play that adds the cost considerably. the other option is a Factory Nav unit like an RNS315 or 510, will do everything you want EXCEPT Apple play....... but will be around £350 ish..... Both options above avoid the chinese rubbish.
  7. late may was when the facelift started I would think.. Interesing thing is, I would think the switches are pretty much the same, but Fabia stuff is normally 5J and the later switches are 6R which is Polo. Anway, he could PM his VIN and then we would know.
  8. yes the top cowl just clips off, carefully prize it apart at one side. So if you do that, hopefully there will be a sticker with the number on it just on the top.
  9. now im confused !!!! 🤔 There is 2 Ops with the SAME issue ? my post ref cruise, was to Fawnrush.................to be 100% honest did not even notice the different names.....
  10. lots of people fit the cheap chinese units etc etc and then realise how bad they are, they are cheap though..............albeit for a reason. You say you want apple play ??? for what exactly ? music or satnav or ??
  11. Thats cheap !!........(if it works) PS I'm pretty sure after watching the video he posted he does not have cruise. Im which case I have one here which I removed from mine when I fitted cruise, perfect working order. £35 posted if your interested.
  12. Jjust resize the images, or post more than one time with image in each....... Ok so you have a maxidot and trip computer........... just confirm if you have cruise or not ?
  13. Offcourse it is, no question of that............however your asking for a video for something on a particular car that in fairness is unlikely to be modded in that way because of what it is and be aware if its to noisy it can fail an MOT for it.
  14. It's a 1.2 htp................why do you want to delete the back box ? What do you hope to gain apart from p**s your neighbours off ?
  15. Im confused to, didn't think xenon lights were ever fitted to the Mk2. I feel somone has "bodged" one of those stupid HID kits into the headlight. Got a picture of so called xenon headlamp ?
  16. we've all used tyre shine at some point im sure!!!
  17. yes you "could" do that, but you would also have to have some kind of "indicator" that its on.......and goes off with the main light switch..........."imo" not worth the hassle. slightly diff numbers across the VAG range..... So you can either tell us what you have ref cruise yes/no / maxidot display yes/no etc etc..............or post a picture of BOTH stalks so we can see. And when the car was built / registered.
  18. Have to agree fully I would be sourcing the correct light, then its in out with old in with new.
  19. You don't need any special tools, just a screw driver, some torx bits (T20 or T25) and a socket / ratchet to undo the steering wheel. Its a shame your not local to me, would gladly assist / do it for you.
  20. Looks like it was perfect timing for both of you......👍 You won't be dissapointed, they are a nice unit.........................and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than any chinese dog poo 🤣
  21. Right, IGNORE the names on the units, for example you would "think" an Amundsen + would contain bluetooth over and above the other, not the case either or can have bluetooth and or DAB. What you are looking for in either unit is the label has a MAC address which has figures on it, not 0's, if it has numbers then the unit has bluetooth built in. If it doesn't its not the end of the world, it can be added by getting the bluetooth module and loom which is plug and play physically but would need coding with VCDS or similar. Bluetooth modules on ebay all the time, most work with all models, just ensure you get the loom with it to. Is your steering wheel phone prepped ? As for DAB, then you can see which has it by the extra antenna connection on the rear, See images attached. You would also need to purchase a DAB antenna, they are around £65 new, which is not bad For satnav, just need one of these....if you buy without DAB, but if you buy the proper roof antenna then it has FMA, AM, DAB, GPS and GSM in it https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-RNS-510-RNS-310-RNS-315-MFD2-VW-GPS-Antenna-Sat-Nav-Satellite-Navigation/302492015455?hash=item466deddb5f:g:ciUAAOSwqd1Zy83Z Swing unit is very basic, personally I would go for the Amundsen or Columbus, both are nice units. As for chinese headunits, will "imo" they are all dog pooo.
  22. The 3" bulb you are mentioning is not a bulb.............thats the lens of the projector headlamp. (see image) So just to confirm, do the lights flash when you pull the stalk towards you ? if they do, then its the stalk, the full beam internal switch is faulty. Replacing stalk is as mentioned, steering colum shroud, airbag, steering wheel, then the switch assembly. Takes about 15-20 mins once you have done it once. If you do attempt to do this, disconnect the battery BEFORE removing the airbag / steering wheel and do not reconnect until EVERYTHING is back together, if you dont, you will latch an airbag fault.
  23. The noise you are hearing is the "shutters" in the headlamps opening for full beam, so you def have one bulb and projector headlamps...................however they can still do this but the lights dont work as the switch contact is faulty in the stalk. I would say 95% its the stalk thats faulty, repaired a fellow members on here with the same fault.
