Karoq rear brake pads
I’ve just read your mpg post. I think you’re right that there is an issue with electronic handbrake. You mention in the other post that a 250 mile journey seems to resolve the mpg issue. Just wondering if the combination of Electric handbrake and auto hold with many shorter journeys with frequent stops resulting in many rear brake applications if the rear brakes are slow to release that would increase wear and reduce mpg- compared to a 250 mile trip with very few rear brake applications due to auto hold.

Karoq buying advice
It’s basically SE, SEL and Sportline. Then it gets mangled by adding Drive which applied to SE and Edition which applied to all of them. Easiest way is too at Skoda website as the names and versions have change over time.

My Skoda - a cautionary tale
Re the metric vs imperial and the door unlocking changes- that could be a user profile thing due to using different keys. I had a similar thing with TPMS setting - I had set it all for myself as primary but there is a default user too that I had to choose and set the TPMS for.

Karoq rear brake pads
Rear pads so worn that they need replacing after 24,000 miles is unusual and before the fronts even more so. Is this a manual or auto, as you might expect a shorter pad life with an auto. Having said that my previous car (VW Touran DSG ) had done 108,000 miles when I sold it, still on the original rear pads, fronts changed at 72,000.

Yes the steering wheel is slower to heat up. Have you twigged that it has 3 heat levels. Multiple presses lower the level.

Difficult to see - the camera is a right at the top of the triangle.

No it stays on or off as set. I leave it on but for sometimes switch off so it creeps on tickover useful when parking in tight spots.

Lane Assist, check whether there is a camera mounted on the windscreen behind the rear view mirror. It’s needed for lane assist,TSR and auto dip/main beam for matrix headlamps, of which there are two types. Virtual cockpit there are 4 different selectable views and the contents of each can be configured to suit. That might resolve your concerns.

Boot loading lip – solutions to reduce it?
If the Karoq you test drive has Vari flex rear seats that cross member area might be different. I’ve not seen Vari flex seats though so can’t say. Also mine is 4x4 and I’ve never looked at a 2wd Karoq boot it’s possible the boot floor in a 4x4 had to be higher than a 2wd to allow for the rear diff etc.

Boot loading lip – solutions to reduce it?
@jon15 Here are some images that hopefully will answer your questions. Firstly these are from my June 2023 build 2.0 TSI Sportline 4x4, in case that makes a difference. I removed the styrene storage which exposes this structural cross member - I don't have the carpet covering that you have because this was a factory fitted spare wheel. I also don't have the plastic trim over the seat hinge. My Karoq came with the double sided boot mat which sits on top of the main boot floor shown in these photos. The styrene storage when fitted goes over the top of the cross member, and the carpet you can see by the hingle how much it comes u[p the hinge probably about 20mm. With everything refitted and the boot floor folded back at the side, a handy way to access the underfloor storage, the white anchor loops are just visible, the raised flap resting against the seat back can be pushed flat but I leave it up to stop dirt etc getting under the seat. So length or depth of boot from threshold to back of rear seats is 34 inches, this is at the base of the backrest. This is the measurement from the top of the cubby hole side to the top of the boot floor.

Boot loading lip – solutions to reduce it?
I think it would, I’ll take another photo tomorrow as this one doesn’t show the exact level at the bottom of the rear seat as the net is obscuring it. As you can see you get some useful storage compartments. This was a factory fit item in mine when k got it at 6 months old.

Boot loading lip – solutions to reduce it?
Now I’ve seen your photo I can see that my boot floor is higher as the white metal anchor point is below the boot floor. That ledge you refer to is below the boot floor.

Have you not seen and driven it?

LED or Matrix LED? --- please help ID
When a UK Dealer, “Car Trader” in DVLAs words, buys a vehicle a different part of the V5 is completed, so they are recorded as the keeper but crucially not the registered keeper because they don’t buy Road Fund Licence. It’s not SORNed either so it’s in transition. I’ve previously bought a dealers demo vehicle, which they had registered and taxed, I became the 2nd owner. My Karoq was bought from a dealer, the first owner was a Skoda employee, the Dealer bought it through a closed Skoda auction I am the 2nd owner.

Boot loading lip – solutions to reduce it?
My Karoq came with a space saver spare wheel with moulded styrene storage around the wheel. The boot floor sits on top of this and is pretty much level with the “threshold” of the hatch. If you don’t have the spare wheel and moulded storage maybe that’s a way to raise the boot floor?

I think the 24/74 plate Sportlines had TSR and Lane Assist as std, the ability to alter the soundaktor engine sound setup, compared to the 23/73 plate Sportlines. Otherwise same as 23/73 year.

LED or Matrix LED? --- please help ID
That could be an important consideration, as I think the Matrix version requires a complete sealed unit in the event of a failure not a simple bulb replacement.

LED or Matrix LED? --- please help ID
My Sportline has the Matrix LED headlights with auto dip/main. I’ve compared them to the photos and it’s very difficult to be sure which one they match, so I’ve not indicated in case I got it wrong. If you are buying from a Skoda dealer they should be able to provide the precise spec, it’s on the Skoda systems, I’ve seen it with our other Skoda. Also there is a chat feature on the Skoda website and they can take a vin of reg number and provide the spec. Matrix LEF and auto dip/main is well worth having.

Yeti 1.2TSI oil sump replacement
Helicoil can last a very long time, the sump plug on my 1983 Metro was helicoiled in the late 1990s it’s still doing its job today and oil tight. Just don’t over tighten.

Low coolant indicator with a possible leak
Coolant should have antifreeze in and would normally be distinguishable from plain water. One of the drawbacks with the engine undertrays is that they can delay the detection of leaks because the liquid remains on the undertray until the car drives away or the liquid drips from the lowest point of the tray which could be a long way from the source. It might be worth dropping the undertray to see if it reveals anything.

Leaking coolant
It could be an oil cooler, fitted to the oil filter.

Karoq software update. Progress report.
From what I’ve read on this sub forum the DSG does nt seem to be affected, you may need to study the whole thread. Also search for kangeroo on the T Roc vs forum. This problem affects multiple VAG models, not just Skodas.

ECU Swap / Immobiliser programming - Who can do it?
I would try HazzyDayz in Markyate, J9 of the M1. Realise it’s a bit of a journey from Oxfordshire, but they may be able to help.

I looked at two Skodas in a showroom today .... Karoq and Kamiq.
@oldstan I’d suggest parking your Yeti next to a Karoq. When my brother parked his Yeti next to my Karoq we were both surprised that the Karoq was lower! His Yeti has removable back seats my Sportline does not potentially more usable space in Yeti, need to choose Vari Flex seating for Karoq if that’s important. Yeti boot space is much squarer although Karoq is bigger the curves may reduce the usability, ie tailgate curves across the back and is slopes down.
