  1. Awwwwwwwww Squirrel Nuts! The noise kinda went away, or smoothed out, or I got used to it... but now, IT'S BACK! And angrier :( .. the link below is a vid for the noise.. I think I sucked up a ghost. http://www.flickr.co...N05/8557174142/ Sam pointed this vid out, that WAS a fubar, (below) ..So, Would you lot agree my noise is an early stage of the blue one? If so.. Should I drive it? :( Could it be the EGR? I've pretty much ruled out a boost leak due to doing it when stationary.. Was that silly?
  2. Fabia's can pull to the left a bit, but shouldn't be a worrying amount. Some cars just seem to be camber sensitive (driven an E class several times now, they're just the same.. ) I'd actually be a little suspicious of a stock Fabia that went in a straight line.. lol.
  3. Sorry for such a bump.. but thought I would add my thoughts.. They're a bit blunt though..... Get the aftermarket alarm removed. Nothing but a ball ache when they go wrong. And, if the boot issue IS a sign of it going wrong then you can only hope to expect more issues as it gets worse. Remember Hammond's 3 series convertible on TG a couple seasons ago?.. My Dad had the exact same experience on a Merc.. Slowly, but surely, the alarm crippled the car until one day it just refused to start... Was impressive when it DID work.. A pillarless couple remotely dropping all it's windows and opening the roof does look awesome, lol... Eventually, we got an alarm specialist round and he was instructed to remove it all.... 3 full carrier bags of cables, boxes, sirens, batteries.. Tell ya what though, the car never missed a beat after that... And besides, the Fabia's got a decent security system fitted as standard..
  4. Actually.. Diesel V6 is right. People used to miss my flashes because it took me a little while to work out I was too quick with the stalk.. I started holding it for a split second longer and now people register it..
  5. They're not meant to be bright though, are they??.. I thought their job was too illuminate kerb and road markings when visibility is very short... Which is why they only really cast any light down at the front and to the sides.. There was talk on here, when the mk2 vRS came out, as to if the fog light mounted DRL's could be fitted to a mk1?
  6. Gear box sorted? I'm guessing you calibrated the shifter and changed the oil?
  7. Don't forget to check the fuse if you've never heard it going off in anger... It has it's own, so you can shut it up when it's mis behaving.. Believe it's the top left of the bigges.. but don't hold me to it.
  8. Don't underestimate the cost of the cable if you're retro fitting an OEM unit... It's not part of the standard Fabia loom and will need fitting additionally. Autoleads make one, I've got it, I've never been sure about it because I get a very faint ticking at high/mid volumes (and I've had 2 disc changes on it now.. thanks to Sam, so it wasn't the player it's self) At the time the cheapest I could find it was £20 odd... It's way too long though, but can be made neat and tidy on top of the glove box.. loadsa' room hiding up there.... This means you'll be pulling a lot of trim out though to get from under the seat to the back of the HU.. I went along the outer edge, so b pillar, door sill etc. Not so bad though as you'll have the seat out anyway and Skoda did put holes in the shell to run it through. Could take it under the centre console instead.. but I've had that out before, and thought the sill side would be less effort.. after all it was probably about the same but at least going along the sill used a bit more of the cable length. If you can't find a setup to buy with the mountings and trim, then people have been known to hack the back out of the under seat storage box and screw the changer straight into it.. A cheaper alternative.. just means opening the little door when you want to change the 6 disc cartridge, and as previously mentioned above, Cars spec'd with the changer from the factory had the under seat storage box on the drivers side... I don't miss it, I think I hid my old sat nav in it about 3 times. You know what though, I'll be completely honest with you... It's not worth the hassle, buy a AUX in adapter and use your phone or mp3 player.. route it through into the glove box.. or down to the little shelf in front of the gear stick.. The only 3 reasons I bothered is because I wanted to fit another optional extra... I kid my self into thinking I can hear the difference between uncompressed, and compressed audio on a car stereo... (TBH, media players and phones have such huge capacities now that you can just use a lossless encoder.).. And I used to work in CD mastering / manufacturer so felt a little compelled to stick with CD's.
  9. Brimma - JPS Octavia or Fabia Elegance estate Ant-vrs - fabia vrs Rob. (If I'm not working)
  10. My 2p... (I have no baby experience, though..) This it purely my logical expectations.. The Fabia is a bit of a Tardis when you can Tetris it up... BUT, I can see that the minute you have too keep "this way up".. (apparently this applies to babies??) Things could get tricky.. Also, Changing car now, for something bigger surely means less ball ache changing once the baby arrives.. less time playing Tetris, the ability to lob it in the back and go (not the baby, obviously)... Finically the sooner the better as well, surely? Once the kid's here your bank account's gonna seem a tad tighter for things like new cars.. but if it's already on the drive then you'll find a way (hopefully).. Alternatively.. Keep the Fabia, find the optional parcel shelf net, and use it as a baby hammock.
  11. You know... People always go one about the sludge.. me included.. but my 1st hand experience is it's just spent oil.. do different to what ya get on the dip stick... Could this be because I run Ultimate, though? A cleaner burn?
  12. Cheers Sam! (hits the long defunct "Thanks" button)... I wish we still had those! And, just for reference... Double clicking the lock button doesn't fully disable the alarm..
  13. *sigh* Only sold as an assembly.. £30 odd... Bum... Looks like I'm off down the scrappies!
  14. Aye up.. 2 posts in a week, I'm on a roll.. After standing for 2 months on my folks drive... My Alarm keeps going off in random short bursts My intermittent wipers don't work (every other wipers function is fine) When I lock the car, I don't get the indicator flash.. but do on unlocking. All fingers point at the bonnet latch microswitch according to my searches on here.. Could anything else cause these failures together (apart from coincidence, of course) Thanks, Rob.. p.s. Does double clicking the lock button disable the alarm, or just the dead locks?
  15. I didn't delete... but got "turned right down" in VAGCOM... Slightly smoother idle is all I really noticed. Interesting about the turbo whistle comment... I hadn't put 2 and 2 together on that front, but yeah.. maybe a little bit?
  16. Well, seeing as the ends on these are removable.. Should be easy to use them with the Alu top pipe group buy, being discussed in the other thread on here?? As for colour.. I think they can do them in other colours.. I asked for black when asked cuz' I wanted an oem look. The turbo one has to be that orange colour, I'm guessing because they have them in stock in that colour and order in batches.
  17. They are Pipes 6, 8, 2 & 4 from this diagram. Basically the rubber bends from the intake system. The Turbo pipe isn't drawn quite right, it's the same even on the print out Skoda gave me. The Orange pipe is the turbo pipe.
  18. Aye up.. I don't post on here as much as I used to, but I do still lurk I thought this was post worthy though. About, what, 2 months ago I posted about the SMIC bottom pipe costing a HUGE £106 from Skoda, TPS and Euro parts.. No 3rd party copy part available and 2nd hand parts a bit of a gamble.. I had a brain wave though.. Sometimes the upgrade parts are cheaper then OEM.. so I had a look about, but no one did direct OEM replacements, it was all full kits for FMIC and the like. Forge already make the pipe that comes straight off the turbo, I'm guessing for cars running a fair bit of stock parts still but bigger maps. So I emailed them enquiring about the likely hood that they could knock out a SMIC bottom pipe for me.. I waited a few days and the reply came back "Send me your original pipes and we'll give you a full set for free in exchange"... I had access to another car and work from home, it was a no brainer... so off they went. Last week, these showed up in the post!.. SQUEAL!.. I don't have any details really. They obviously have the tools to make them now though.. They're not on the web site yet, but give them a call and they should know what you're on about. What I CAN tell you is that the turbo pipe is £82 inc VAT. I dunno the OEM part price, but when the the SMIC bottom pipe (the shortest of the lot) is £106 then I would guess these will be a priced agreeably.. They all slotted on as they should.. No serious issues. A bit of extra effort to get the metal pipe in place on the bottom was required.. but only because these give a better / tighter seal.. it wasn't impossible with a little tap from a bit of weight.. If I can do it then any one could. Been up and down the M1 today, haven't been "kind" as such.. All fine and dandy!
  19. The draw from an elegance, that replaces the cubby, has a much deeper top lip on it, gets rid of the gap in most cases.
  20. Hmmm.. Dark pictures, one whole side not shown?
  21. Here's ma Shexy Celestions... But they're in storage atm :'( Here's ma daily hack (I work with audio).. Dynaudio BM5's.. These are not to be underestimated, best compact speaker I've heard for under a Monkey... (and I've heard quite a few over the years). Currently running on an Alises.. It aint pretty, it aint feature full.. but it's amplifies all the right bits But, got this for the Celestions.. Hitachi HA4800.. It's not brilliant, but it's period.. would like some old chunky aluminium 70's Pioneer for the Celestions really.. if I ever come across one cheap. Don't get me started on MP3.... or Vinyl, for that matter.... They're both rubbish, trust me! ... I used to work with a set of these, Quad ESL 63 ... There's not a day goes by I don't miss the clarity, Electrostatics are just amazing to work with.... It's like wearing some amazing full range headphones whilst being sat in a room full of sound with absolutely pin point accurate stereo position and depth....
  22. Awesome.. Glad I bumped this thread... Apparently, This is the same as Dad's 1st ever car, an Austin A35... He tells me he used to go out in it at night without a licence, and one night it broke down.... Luckily, his neighbour was passing and helped him push it home before his parents woke up and caught him... His neighbour was the local police man as well.. LOL... Oh, the good old days! Bless, it's also the car he courted my Mum in (before it broke, and he got his Lambretta.. but we're not doing 2 wheels on this thread) ... This is what he takes Mum out in now, Triumph GT6 (Me & him re built it last year.. Mega Fun).. This is the actual car.. Comes to meets in warmer months.
  23. Re: sticking rear brake.... Would the hand brake release assist spring help with this?
  24. When it's doing it's bouncing thing.... How does it drive, a bit unpredictably? Any excessive smoke out the back when it starts?? They would be signs of the coolant sensor being at fault.. When I had my 16v a few years back.. the finger was always pointed at a dirty, or faulty, throttle body.. people getting good results after a through clean.
  25. I haven't looked, but I'm under the impression it's not as I read a thread on a Polo forum where a guy had upgraded his PD100 too a PD130 "including all pipes".. He'd actually gone and bought them all as well!! Maybe they were cheaper when he did it... I do keep seeing "£80" on older posts for around 08/09. It's, hopefully.. all taken care of now though...
