  1. I've looked into this a couple of times over the years and always concluded that not only is it nigh on impossible.. but the cost would be through the roof... However, times move on and people are always coming up with new hacks so lets see what comes up.. I was always going down the folding Superb mirror parts bin idea.. But then always hit upon the fact that they're not an independent motor but it's all don't through the window setup...
  2. HA! That's the 1st time I've had friends to play with on the way home.. Lots-o-fun.. Though, I fear mine was the smokiest of all.. and it's stock! Eek!
  3. Yup... No double bookings this time... Brimma - JPS Octavia Softscoop - Fabia vRS vrsadz - fabia vrs bluevrs2 Octavia vRS Rob. - Fab.
  4. HA! I've been trying to convince Softscoop (Sam) to do that for aaaaaages. He has non vRS seats, and steels with wheels trims on... the stock bumpers would turn his car into a complete sleeper... but he won't, pfft, some people! lol
  5. Did someone suggest gold wheels?... Works much better with a stripe! But, I've spoken on gold wheels lots over the years..
  6. Yeah, I did this kinda thing a couple of times... and quickly concluded that, actually.. you're simply doing what they want you too.. So now, like you, I just stick my ground... I always do the right speed so don't hold any one up.. The way I see it now is "Go round me if you really wanna go quicker"... That's not to say I don't relish the 30 - 60 dash and never plant it until i actually pass the NSL sign.. which always seems to catch tailgaters of guard and is kinda fun if I'm honest... Hills can be fun at any speed, as well I don't think the badge does it... I get it when I drive my folks cars as well (Insight, and a E250)... There's just allot of idiots on the road. To echo what Luke said though, I bought the car in london, commuted daily and never really got anything.. but seem to get it more in the midlands (though, not allot).. I did wonder if it tallied with another thing I noticed... vRS recognition from people in general.. in London, no one really cared.. up here? I've had "Is it a vRS" when talking about cars more than a few times now. I think there just such a mix of motors in London that unless it's got a horse, bull or R on it, no one even acknowledges it... far to busy playing dodge the bus and fill the gap.
  7. Seeing a bud so can't make it this month... hopefully next month though p.s. Magic's not real.
  8. I'd always said I'd actually just take it off if I could... but you can't. However.. my mate Neil suggested something the other day I hadn't thought of.. Getting the hatch from a non vRS in black... Hmmmm... Might go eBay hunting for a breaker. Think I'm the only person who doesn't mind loosing the spoiler though, lol.
  9. bluevrs2 is right, when you can do it safely try driving on the other side of the road, you'll most likely find it pulls right. And if you drive in the dead centre it drive in a straight line... The vRS is setup to be camber sensitive, and there's also no adjustment on the rear to correct any minor discrepancies.. It's come up many times on here, always muted as a safety feature to stop you heading into a head on collision when falling asleep etc etc.
  10. Perhaps they took the EGR from a forecourt car? Do you have any paper work saying it was a new part they fitted? Or does it read something like "Changed EGR under warranty"..
  11. When you get to answer "Is it a vRS" With a smug smile and a knowing nod. .. Picked up my mates 77' 520 from a BMW specialist the other day.. He's got a small collection of quality BMW's, all mint.. and STILL was like "Is that a vRS?.. Nice"... So much WIN!
  12. Ross, maybe this was made before those alloys became a production reality? And the 15" version was stylistically based on these prototypes? I'm not suggesting for a second those panels are actually formed like that.. it'll be some creative filler for sure.. But still looks nice for such a little detail change. Makes the sill look completely different, allot more purposeful. JulieD, I meant like the maaahooooosive one, It always comes up small, netcarshow down size it somehow.
  13. You know this concept fabia that kinda went on to become the vRS? Link to a big picture.. site won't let me put an image link on here. ... I've only just noticed that the arches have been blended into the little sill to make it look more like a skirt.. Am I the only one that hadn't clocked this?
  14. ..... So I left with out closing my Tab...... OPPS! Phoned up the following morning, All is well... ..... Think I may have to get the coming home light circuit now though.... bugger.
  15. I had the bocsh, ok but not brilliant... Had a patch from day 1 where they didn't quite wipe smoothly. Thought I'd go down the budget route this time as pennies are tight... Bought WiperBlades.co.uk's own brand offering... Actually really impressed with the quality and the wipe is better than the bocsh ever were (and slightly bigger, with out clipping the posts). Would highly recommend.
  16. Add more low... Then it'll look perfect
  17. Just thought I'd add.... It was the speaker on my passenger side.... BUT! Today, after some extreme testing (bunged up the drain holes and poured in the water until it came back out at the leak).. I've found ANOTHER leak cause. You know those 3 lil green wall socket type things that the 3 screws of the bottom of the door card go into?... Yeah, they can leak. I inspected mine close up once I'd noticed the stream of water coming through them... Not sure if it's over tightening or what, but they have puncture holes in them from the screw tip. I'm gonna order some new ones from the dealer, and seal them in. And probably cut 5 - 8mm off the screws, they don't need to be as long as they are to do their job. I've been trying to stop this leak for years. I'm quite pleased, to say the least.
  18. .. I lost a huge amount of the lacquer within a couple of weeks... Started as a tiny bubble and ended up being 20% of the spoiler. Here's a thought. The lacquer is known to haze as well, I polished mine back up, more than once.... Could too many applications of cutting polishes be breaking the clear coat and letting in the moister that then allows the differential expansion to be far more destructive as the bond is weakened. It's wrapped at the minute as although you can see the patch where it's missing if you look close, it looks much better for the time being until I decide to fix or sell up. I wish I had a different coloured car really, because I could have just painted it black... but on a magic black car it's gotta match really. Question for the people who know about body work.... If I key the surface, will that be abrasive enough to let me confidently paint, with out the lacquer under my new paint continuing to let go? If you catch my drift? Will keying the surface be enough to remove the old lacquer?
  19. Apparently these are on a Polo.. Are these OEM flat blade arms then? If they are, think I'll keep on using the conversion blades because don't really see the attraction of the above. Am I missing something?
  20. Don't think so.. It's one of the the polo arm/blade you need. I can never remember which, even though it's on my car (did it ages ago)...
  21. After many re seals... I found out that on my car, it's been coming from around the speaker collar / mount the whole time..... Mine have been replaced with after market units though and the seal used has failed.
  22. Rizzo, worse on full lock would have me questioning your CV joints.
  23. Another vote for the drop links... My car had a kinda metallically rattle clunky knock.. Only when driving along on not so smooth roads.. Nothing on the motor way, nothing on bad roads, no change in driving. New drop links, noise gone.... I'd actually ruled out the links as they were replaced a year ago.... and they had no play in them at all. The problem was that one of them had actually seized, rather than worn.
