My DSG gearbox seems playing up..
Actually the issue was present before the mechatronic resealing and oil changing job. In normal city drives (London) there are lots of stop starts everyday. One in every Ten times it judders from stop position to start and if it is steep incline trhere will definitely be juddering. Mechatronic looks dry now, and also firmware was never been updated. I can see that there are updates available in my OBD11. But don't know where can I do it. I had the car taken to dealer for servicing few times. Well, just wondering, shall I start looking for an used gearbox from the breakyard for my car cause i still have to drive this car at least few more years. I need to have it sorted once and for all.

My DSG gearbox seems playing up..
Update: Yesterday I had MOT and i saw the oil leaking sign again and this time in gearbox not in the mechatronic (which was laready fixed). So, I took the car to the same gear where mechatronic leaking was fixed. they also confirmed that mechatronic isn't leaking. this time it is gear box. My car also judders time to time especially when car is stopping position in uphill. So, garage guy said, I may need clutch repair as well and with everything he said it will cost me 1500 +Vat.. It seems it is now one after another. Few months ago it was mechatronic and now Gear.. Need expert opinion...It is not too much leaking or dripping the oil at the moment...but problem is juddering.. it judders every now and then and as an uber driver i need lot of city drivings. What should I do? Can anyone recommend me any gear especialist in london to get the second opinion or quote.

Boot is not opening
Exactly..no trim removal required..just a flat head screw driver. It will pop out..then unplug and replug new one. May be older model requires trim removal to replace it. but mine didn't

Boot is not opening
Sorry guys, I couldn't find any videos. I tried a lot. but believe me if it is the same car as me it will be very simple. Just like your registration light bulb replacing.

Boot is not opening
Hi Moribund, I can't really remember exactly how did I do it, but it was straight forward...it took only 2 minutes to replace it. I didn't had to take any trim out. I guess I used flat head screw driver to pry open the switch from the side and unplugged and replaced it with the new one. I must have watched video and if i find videos in my watch history I'll let you know.

Boot is not opening
I bought the whole part of the Release Handle Switch from Nirro Ltd. It was second hand and quite straight forward to replace.

My DSG gearbox seems playing up..
i took the car to that garage and the guy said, probably i need new clutches. They fixed the leak only and they didn't touch anything else when they did mechatronic oil leaking job. As the car is 111k now, it is normal to have the clutches worn out.

My DSG gearbox seems playing up..
I had my mechatronic seal repaired and mechatronic and gearbox oil replaced (there is a thread about it in this forum) months ago. Since then I have been finding the car bit difficult to drive, especially where lots of stop and starts and also in incline. The gear jumps from 1 to 2 very quickly and that's where car shakes and jumps.in 20+mph gear changes to 4th, doesn't bother me that much but from start position i have to play tricks (let the accelerator go and press and go and press to control the shakes, vibration and jolt) I never noticed how it was before, but bow i feel it bit different in terms of driving from stop position..I have tried driving in Eco and Sport mode. They are slightly better than Normal mode. Do you guys think there is something wrong with gearbox or i could continue driving with 'let go and press again' trick to control the gear?

What is this oil leaking?
My problem is sorted by resealing the mechatronic. I guess admin can mark this thread as solved.

1.4tsi DSG - replacing accumulator in mechatronics. Possible without removing unit?
Update: Mobile guy didn't turn up, So, I went to the Garage who quoted me £360 to reseal it (including Mechatronic + Gearbox oil changed). They did the job day before yesterday and I had been driving since. Today I checked underneath and there is no sign of oil leaks or anything. I think there was no damage of anything inside mechatronic. Just seal became weak. Fingers crossed no more oil leaking from the Mechatronic.

1.4tsi DSG - replacing accumulator in mechatronics. Possible without removing unit?
Hello, this is the update I went to another garage and guy inspected the leak and said, it was leaking from the side connector (piston), not from breather. So his advice was, taking the mechatronic down and change the piston and refill with the oil and put it back . When i told this to mobile mechanic guy, he said this is unusual and probably I need to replace whole mechatronic for £1300.. he said usually pistons and seals (green) are quite strong and they don't break. Well, he said to take the mechatronic out he needs 2 fluids changing because he needs to drain both fluids. Then need to be programmed to relearn the clutch. Plus the labour and total costing will be £410. He gave me another option to have the gear and mechatronic oil servicing which is changing the oils and cleaning around the joining and so on wich is £260..he also suggested if it is not leaking too much..probably good cleaning and new fluid may seal it.. Guys, can somebody help me to decide. And also, do I need 2 fluids draining to take mechatrinic out?

Definitely I asked him how he is going to fix and he said he will replace the oil sump or whatever broken, So, when I went to collect the car,I asked him where is the broken sump or the parts that you replaced, he was mumbling and gave me a part which was not even Skoda parts (I didn't realise it untill someone in this forum pointed it out). I still don't know what was wrong with my engine oil leaking and how this guy fixed it. Anyway, I would like him to do the job, but he is not clearly saying what is he gonna do. as an example, everybody I asked, they said they need to reseal it and also need oil replacing which he didn't mentionat all. he said he can fix it for £120 and also he looked confused as well. As far as i can realise this is a complex job and not normal mechanic is able to do it where as engine oil leaking is their part of expetise. That's why i am reluctent to go to him. I had the mechatronic looked at by a gear especialist yesterday. they said it is leaking from the connector (i guess transmission valve) on the side of the mechatronic where the gear connectiong to the mechatroniic.. it is not leaking from breather. They offered me to replace the whole mechatrone with a brand new one for £1,500 (1year and 12k miles warranty) or reseal for £360 without warranty. So, I am thinking I'll have it sealed with this expert VAG mobile mechanic for £260.

I was really expecting your reply. I am totally confused myself with zero knowledge of mechatronics. Intially ebay guy said it will cost me £260 to re-seal (with new oil) and once i sent him the pictures and video he said, as it is leaking from the top, it needs repair or probably changing some componenets inside which will cost me £650 all together (cash), but interesting thing is he is not gonna take the mechatron out. he will work from under the car. I really need honest opinion.. and I can not trust the local guy who will charge £120. Last time he fixed my engine oilsump for £160 and he said he changed the sump but he couldn't provide me the parts. I don't know what he really did. Well, oil sump was fixed and no problem at all.

This means that the hydraulic part of the DSG 7 DQ200 has its own oil pump, valves and cylinders. These cylinders are directly connected to the shift forks and the clutch levers. The electro-hydraulic control unit incorporates an electrically driven hydraulic pump and an oil pressured accumulator, which together ensure that the system pressure in the control unit remains adequate for seamless gear shift and clutch operation. In order to provide the Mechatronic with the necessary information, the TCM receives information from a number of sensors. Almost all of these sensors are built into the TCM. However, on first generation Mechatronic the speed sensor is located outside. Total cost from £650 includes: * Diagnostic * Parts and labour * Mechatronics repair using new parts * Mechatronic service using genuine oil * Relearn clutch points & adaptations etc Maintenance service or diagnostic: * Mechatronics maintenance service £150 * Diagnostic £100 Vehicles covered: * Volkswagen * Audi * Skoda * Seat Please note: engine size 2.0 litre and above are NOT fitted with this mechatronics. 1.4tsi DSG - replacing accumulator in mechatronics. Possible without removing unit?
I've two options now..found a mobile guy in ebay who is expert on VAG,he can repair it with genuine parts and will charge me £650 including oil changing (1.7l) and if I want transmission oil changing then £160 extra (Do I need transmission oil changed for my car, opinion needed plz). Another option is just to seal it from my local garage for £120.. it's same garage who fixed my Engine oil leaking a year and half ago. This ebay guy said (after inspecting the pictures) that as it was leaking from the top, it needs proper seal and repair inside.

1.4tsi DSG - replacing accumulator in mechatronics. Possible without removing unit?
I came to a garage and guy said seal is broken and he can re-seal it just for £120.. there is no engine light on or any problem of driving the car..So, I am guessing if he re-seals it, would the problem be sorted or I should ask him to take the gearbox down and look for metal part (accumulator) broken.
