  1. He's quite the VW fan old Bob. ID.4 looks good though, but still no definite date for orders / delivery that I've found. Anyone got any new information?
  2. Yeah, salary sacrifice making the lease prices seem good again. Great for those can get it. For a personal lease its a very different story. An e-niro4+ personal lease for me is about £510 pcm or £306 on salary sacrifice. That is a massive difference and seems a bit unfair as I cannot get one on sacrifice terms . Obviously, what makes an EV such a good deal on SS is the 0% BIK - my current Karoq lease is £60 a month cheaper on PCH that it was through salary sacrifice at my previous employer.
  3. I like the Arctic Silver, Velvet Red and the Race Blue but I do agree the colour palette is bland.
  4. More about leasing than the car I think. The leasing part sounds great until they start mentioning salary sacrifice. Most of us don't get that option, so their figures are hopelessly optimistic. They also don't mention BIK rates will rise over the course of the lease, so the costs increase. Don't get me wrong, salary sacrifice is a great deal if you can get it, but most firms do not offer it.
  5. Well if it's a decent implementation it should do both. Both Jaguar's and Tesla's heat pump systems scavenge heat from the battery and drive train to heat the cabin and vice versa. Heat is also claimed from outside air to heat the systems in the car.
  6. I would be asking very seriously WTF they are doing for £240 a service? This is a car that requires no filter changes, no oil changes and very little else in terms of servicing. Reduced service costs are meant to be one of the attractions of EVs.
  7. I've had mine out in the snow this last week too. We got about 6 inches around here and the roads were mainly compacted snow. I have Bridgestone Weatherbeater all season tyres on now and they were adequate in the snow. I found the braking performance to be lacking with the tyres, but getting going was fine. I used snow mode and found the steering to be heavier, throttle response muted and maybe the brakes less responsive - I had hoped that ABS would be off in snow mode, but no that just hammered away. Snow mode engages the AWD more so it was much better at slowing the vehicle via engine braking. I'd be tempted to use 'Off-road' mode as that makes 4x4 permanent and there is hill descent control to help out too. Only one slightly dodgy moment during the afternoon was stopping when going downhill and meeting another vehicle on a single track road. Making use of the snow piles at the sides on the road helped there. My car reversed back up the slippery hill easily, while the shogun 4X4 was sliding about driving up on mud tyres. Overall, reasonably impressed.
  8. Thank you for the update. Still a possibility for me. A word of warning about Octopus, make sure your smart meter is fully functioning before the switch. I've had an absolute nightmare trying to get their meter working.
  9. Thats a useful place, but rather **** there is no canopy over the 'pumps', especially as its in rainy / snowy Scotland. Even a bus shelter type arrangement to keep the weather off you when pressing buttons and plugging in would be worthwhile. (yes I know you can sit in your cars while actually charging).
  10. Actually the camera gets a wash whenever you wash the rear screen. You only spot it when in reverse as the camera shows it. BTW, took me about 6 months of ownership to spot it had one too!
  11. I'm thinking of making a similar transition, but maybe tempted to stay with Skoda if I can get an Enyaq in a sensible time scale. I'd definitely be interested to hear about your views on the e-Niro versus the Karoq.
  12. Lucid Air launched with 400 mile range, Tesla respond with an increase in range to the model S to 414 miles to leapfrog them again (ranges in US EPA figures). Lucid have not challenged that. I don't think Tesla need to worry too much, by the time Lucid are actually producing cars in any numbers, Tesla will have migrated all their cars to the new battery cell structure / chemistry to achieve better energy density. I also think Lucid are unlikely to be a direct competitor to Tesla, as their car is more luxurious (and expensive) than the Model S. The more likely competitor to Lucid will be the Mercedes EQS due late this year. The whole reason every new battery car is compared to Tesla is they are the benchmark, whether they compete in the market sector or not. Personally, I don't believe Lucid will be a consideration for car owners in Europe. (Ditto Rivian)
  13. I agree with @e-Roottoot, that's not gonna happen for a long time. The electric Mii and e-Up are sold out for the foreseeable future and you cannot order one. While they can sell everything they make, no incentive to come out with "Id.1"
  14. A useful thread from a couple of years ago.... And photos of my set up with a universal liner and the sakura rubber mat above.
  15. Big question for me, which will be out first - ID.4 or Enyaq?
  16. New review by Autoguful
  17. Looks like Autocar may have broken an embargo, I'm getting 'page not found'.....
  18. So here's a conundrum, Gridserve have confirmed price as 24p/kWh at the EV charging hub but they also have Tesla Superchargers on-site which charge at 29p/kWh (unless special price for those). What are they going to do when Kia e-Niro man comes in and finds all the Gridserve chargers full of Teslas charging as its cheaper? This is a problem @e-Roottoot has found in Scotland too, Teslas charging on the free CCS 50kW chargers right next to a bank of Superchargers. Just wondering, as these will be problems to be worked out by operators.
  19. This would concern me with a Tesla very much. The adaptive cruise on my Karoq is brilliant on the motorway but does do the phantom braking if a car is turning left into a side road on a normal road. Having seen videos of the next level predictive cruise control VAG is using, that looks even better on non-motorway roads. Thank you for your honest 'normal bloke' view of the Tesla, it is putting its capabilities into perspective.
  20. Real world range varies for everyone, mainly due to driving style. A standardised range test like this allows consumers to compare apples to apples with regards to potential range. I believe in future focus will be on miles per kilowatt hour, as electricity prices rise at rapid chargers. I still pay attention to cost per mile. I think VW are being conservative with WLTP / EPA range claims to avoid more bad press after dieselgate. It seems the ID.3 owners are getting similar results to claimed range.
  21. What has a video of ICE Skodas being built got to do with it's electric models?
  22. Luckypants replied to vrskeith's topic in Skoda Enyaq
Production has started and the line looks great. Note that there are 80x model badges on two cars (or the same one twice), so does that mean the AWD versions are now available for order?
  23. Fingers crossed the correct cable will complete the fix and you get 7.2Kw charging.
  24. Did they give you an upgraded cable to go with it? I understand the original cables were 16 amp but to get 7.2Kw charge rate you need a cable rated at 32amp.
