What speed are the rapids?

Thanks Danny, those of us without salary sacrifice have to pay full price, so knowing those numbers for comparison is a great help.

By using the term 'net cost' I assume you are getting your car through a salary sacrifice scheme? Can you tell us the gross amount for the lease?

I think its telling that all the new cars I've looked at recently have hard covers.

My dealer has been OK for service - certainly the extensive warranty work was done without any hassle. They organised courtesy cars as required and the car is always clean on return. So thumbs up for the service team. The sales team, much less so. Not very interested in selling the Karoq as its a lease. Hand over was basically, "heres the keys, its in the corner over there". I figured out how to work all the bells and whistles myself. Sales are apparently not interested in speaking to me about an Enyaq, despite me telling them I wanted to be priority order and ready to purchase (not lease). Even filling in on-line requests and taking a virtual tour on-line, asking to be referred to my dealer, they never once called back. I stopped calling sales weeks ago.

TLDR: Its not a Tesla. I agree with his point about plug and charge, seems crazy this is not offered from the get-go. Mercedes offer it on Ionity and Ford seem to be offering it also. It does sound like he was driving the pre 2.1 software version, so there are updates to go to that vehicle. Version 2.1 enables OTA, so VW have the opportunity to address his concerns. Wait and see. He didn't mention Travel Assist, which seems to be much better than Tesla's Autopilot from what I've seen. Wonder why?

You do realise the e-TRon GT is sharing its chassis and powertrain with the Porsche Taycan? It is a totally different animal to the original e-tron SUV and sportback.

Audi are getting this out there now

I don't agree with her comparing this to i-Pace/EQC/E-Tron, those are much more upmarket cars. I think the competition is more ID.4, Enyaq, Ioniq 5, Model Y and maybe E-niro / Kona. REPLY

Causing a stir

I like the look of it, The 18 minute charging makes it just like an ICE car IMHO. I don't see any word on when they will be delivered, but the order book is open. I can see a lot of people wanting one.

Given orders open today, why is he waiting until the 7th to put your order in? Seems odd. The delay and general confusion has lost them another customer it seems. @bripatWhat have you gone for instead?

@e-Roottoot Impressively cheap charging. The cost of the Chargeplace Scotland card is money well-spent. You're very lucky to have such a scheme, nothing similar here. In fact the WAG are so far behind the times they are only now recognising that there is a need for charging infrastructure. @wyx087 I think I'll be similar and would need to get over my objection to 69p charging. Good way of looking at it.

But what price are they paying? ID.3 First Edition owners got £500 credit on Ionity for instance. EQC owners get similar. Also possible to sign up to discounted charging for £14 a month for VW. The other partners have similar schemes. How many of these users are paying 69p? Also, of those paying 69p, how many are on expenses? I said not many will use it at 69p/KwH. That is the price for PAYG.

No one will use Ionity regularly at 69p/KwH. Only frequent long distance drivers (aka business users) will take a contract to get access to the lower price charging and for that they need to be driving a car made by one of Ionity's investors. Its similar to Tesla's model, charging exclusively for owners of the brand - but others can access at a massive premium. Long distance use is likely to remain a worry until the chargers on motorways and major roads come up to snuff. I don't know which way this will go, but I'm hopeful more places like Gridserve will open up - giving 90 to 350Kw charging on demand at a reasonable 24p/Kwh. (https://www.gridserve.com/braintree-overview/) IMHO 24p/KwH gives a decent profit for the retailer and still makes it cheaper per mile than diesel (for my Karoq doing 12p/mile the break even is 32p/KwH). Of course, most charging will be done at home for those not on the road all the time which means there is a much smaller cake to be shared out amongst suppliers, so don't expect charging stations to be as ubiquitous as petrol stations.

OK so your not making a fair comparison, as the ID.4 First Edition in the UK has the 80Kwh battery. Compare the Enyaq 80 with it. ID.4 First Edition has 125Kw charging as standard. I was interested in how you arrived at your conclusion in case I had overlooked something, but I'm not interested in Enyaq 60.

Model 3 was out due to being a saloon, I need a hatch. Model Y would be a contender if it was available, but there's not even a date for European deliveries yet. Tesla's big advantage is 250+ miles range and I realised long ago I don't need that for 99% of my journeys. I worked out that 200 motorway miles will be fine. 80Kwh ID.4 / Enyaq should do 220-250 on a full charge. @Lee_MWhat is missing from ID.4 that you would add to Enyaq for same money? Given 1st Edition 80 is £38700 OTR.
