  1. Yes, HU = Head Unit, the big tablet now sitting in the mid, formerly below middle aircon ducts. Forgot to mention phone button, which was dedicated on O3, at O4 either you do many clicks distracted off the road, or you need on HU to press home button, then phone button, then you can call - so at least 3 clicks if you are already not on that screen (usually, I am never, either on multimedia, radio, either on navigation, or fullscreen data). Actually wanted to ask other owners - is there a faster way through the steering wheel to make a phonecall? If not, they are simply idiots, and in FL this _must_ me properly reorganized. What were they thinking for the gods sake. You can look through something if it hasn't existed better before, but in this case I cannot.
  2. Allright, couldn't find similar topic. The question is, do you like how it is organized, usability, speed? I ask, because we - do not. Our O4 has been delivered mid of January to us, so we had plenty of time to get used to. I don't think this will happen. Why? Because, when I (now very rare) sit back to my RS, everything is so smooth, easy and fast. The problem with O4 what I have is following: yes it looks much better, eye candy, colorful, rich, but quantity of information you get is exactly the same, not more not less, just so much difficult to get them. You need more clicks, you need more to wait, more distraction from the road - and this is in my humble opinion - not okay. So, from the general perspective, it is fine, I can live with it, but its just a little bit bitter. I expected more from latest generation and biggest HU they offer, Columbus. At least CPU should have been faster then previous generation.
  3. Owning RS from previous generation with DCC and on 19", together with "civilian" O4 on 17", can't say latter handles like a boat, as you described. Pretty normal, for such a car. It does look a bit more comfortable then O3 Style we replaced it with. Maybe it is somehow tire related in your case, or trunk is full? I've felt a bit discomfort in direction change when we were very full for winter holidays, even I've put 3,5 bar on the rear as advised, but nothing seriously to be worry about.
  4. Didn't have any symptoms as this, but but on service in December service has diagnosed issue with water pump housing, which they explained to me as quite common thing on 2.0 TSI. Engine was loosing 100-200ml between services, but I really didn't consider it alarming. After 4 years, probably the issue become visually detectable on the housing so they've found it and replaced under the warranty - with brand new cooling fluid. I have also gotten on the same service brand new AGM battery, I didn't even noticed any issues. Lovely Skoda, they fix and replace everything no questions asked. As I understood, the device is much more then just a pump, it has different valves and redirects water. Look at the picture and those pipes everywhere: Maybe this is where you should start looking into?
  5. Don't make things complicated. Buy just drivers mat separately from official dealers, not a big deal for every couple of years. Mine lasted around 4. I don't use rubber, hate it.
  6. @nickcoll, you haven't really understood an article, so please let me explain. First of all, each generation of Octavia has better driving assists, not worst or less. If you had before 4x4 TDI, current 4x4 TDI will perform better, in its electronic assist systems. Since Octavia 2, and ASR+ESP, all Octavias have some level of wheel anti-slip regulation, better in each generation - we were proud owners of O2, O3, O4. What this article is stating, 4x4 doesn't have a mechanical LSD (called VAQ, electronically controlled), like it never had. Only front driven vRS petrol engine cars, in some versions, were equipped with VAQ (like Cupra, like GTI Performance) Other system previous generation had most definitely exist, plus they are, without exception improved. Now, after we clarified that you are not going to have backward step, but quite the opposite, let's talk hypothetically: Would mechanical LSD be beneficial for 4x4 car? Yes , it absolutely would, much better then electronical, but to be honest, 99% of owners couldn't tell the difference, therefore, it doesn't make much sense. Good luck with your purchase.
  7. I would bet it will be one step ahead O3. Stock sound is (at least) one step ahead on O4 comparing to old model, but to admit, we have now Columbus on stock sound, before it was Bolero - there could be a difference as well... On the other hand, Canton on O3 is better then O4 with stock sound Columbus. Somehow like it suppresses outside noises, I am not sure - without music bigger wider wheels on RS are louder, but when I switch on to the music, subjectively seems that O4 needs to be put more loud. For soft listening I prefer much more Canton. I hope it is understandable what I want to say.
  8. For the treatment to be effective, first go to some garage to melt and dry the car properly, then apply silicone or some other fluid. Years ago I had some little bottle with a sponge ontop, like a fat permanent marker, so you just draw on all rubbers so they repel water. Used on previous cars, a single treatment fixed the problem permanently.
  9. Actually it is quite the opposite for majority of windshields: if they may contain metal, this is the area where it must certainly - IS NOT. Dots are simply mechanical block of sunlight penetration, therefore the best place to place any RFID device.
  10. @JayLibove, sorry for a late response. It also bugged my head where have I seen a picture of dotted area with the tag attached, which I clearly remember - but it isn't in the car manual, it's within the tag installation instructions, please check mine (luckily there is an English version): https://www.putevi-srbije.rs/index.php/en/etc-elektronic-toll-collection/instructions-for-installation-of-etc-device
  11. You cannot do that in a way it makes sense. How do you plan to close it, with what force, if it is able to open such a heavy boot door by itself? Solution which makes sense is to retrofit electric boot, but honestly speaking, since you haven't bought the car already factory fitted with it, I wouldn't bother - unless you own skills to do it yourself.
  12. Doesn't Radio 4 broadcast on stream? Nowadays all radios have their streams over the internet. Use your phone, internet and stream it via bluetooth. Entire world's radios are in your pocket. Why would you ever consider such a bad quality broadcast as you can only get on LW?
  13. This is strange, as I on our forum all first adopters of 1.5 TSI have been fixed kangooring via software update, and a new members with recently bought cars (Kodiaq, Karoq and Kamiq) have never experienced so. Believe me, first ones were so angry. I don't think they would put the gloves down on this issue if it wasn't really resolved for them.
  14. Kangoroo-ing is fixed a long time ago, affecting early models. Newer doesn't feature it, wouldn't worry about it. Currently looking forward one if these in O4.
  15. I had a stone in the tire, causing vibration I couldn't determine where it was coming from. Stopped twice to check the car, nothing visible. Ended with a loud bang, as you are describing, on the highway, no harm done, with vibration immediately gone.
  16. What I have learned, during this pandemic lockdowns we had last spring, and the car was standing still for a weeks, this AGM battery needs days of long trips, not hours or minutes, to get back into its original shape. I drive 39kms in one direction to the work and back, so it activated start-stop after such a message only after 3 days of going to work. There is some logic behind smart charging of AGM and optimizing its health, or whatever, and this conditioning obviously needs time and correct temperatures (it was actually very warm during this issue, and too warm or too cold weather, prolongs its conditioning and charging cycles). What also I have learned, if the car doesn't want to start, leave it for 1-2 hours, and then it will start like no issue was there whatsoever, but then you have to drive it. If it is complicated for proper jump start from another car, it is better to go for lunch and come back.
  17. They aren't. Leather and alcantara seats are completely different then one on Elegance and Style.
  18. Why don't you seek seats of Octavia with better trim? Leather and alcantara seats are perfect on Octavia.
  19. Replace the filter first. Most likely its clogged. edit: and full of evaporation and sweat of previous owners, yuck.
  20. When was the last time cabin filter changed? Anyway, I don't have mist at all in my car, but the climatronic takes care about humidity in the cabin (it doesn't even switch off the engine on stop when the air is humid, with appropriate S/S error reason on HU). With manual I suppose you will need to keep A/C with heating turned on both, or occasionally to press special demisting button (can be annoying I suppose).
  21. Golf GTD doesn't have any "resonator back there", it has small sound actuator under the right wiper, which puts a little juice to the sound when you have "driving mode selection" option in your car set to Sport. Such an option exists in Škoda, but previous owner of your car obviously hasn't configured it - as it is useless for such a car anyway in the first place, but a little more sound and a stiffer steering wheel. My advice, don't bother.
  22. Regardless, you have a handbrake, just a tiny little one, electronically triggered. Any slope will be no issue, as DSG will block front drive train, while handbrake will block rears - no difference as it was in manual whatsoever.
  23. Don't forget by any chance to post the pics of that stretch, please.
  24. Please try to find out if some small key-manufacture can make a blade for you, and it should be cheap. Forget the dealers.
