  2. If anyone else uses Viewbug, would you be interested in sharing a link to your page? You can find mine here.... https://www.viewbug.com/member/mikestuart22#/mikestuart22/photos
  3. Likewise Renault.... and Peugeot.... and CitroΓ«n..... and Ford....
  4. A matter of semantics. If you think kit car refers to a home built special from a kit of parts, then yes, you'd be correct. However, in their day, these rally cars to that specification did go by the Kit Car appellation.
  5. Just a quick 'n' dirty fix but it does expand. Ahh I see what you mean.....

  7. If you only fit a pair of winters to the front and then disappear off the road backwards, you might well find that your insurance company takes a dim view of any resulting claim. I once drove a friend's Polo that was only fitted with winters on the front, in the snow. It was very tail happy and great fun but not the safest combination. I've been fitting full sets of winters on 3 Tiguans, a Golf and now a Karoq, over the past 11 years. I compromise on the Yeti and have Michelin CrossClimate on that all year round.
  8. With 340 mm front discs, you may find that 17' wheels will fit depending upon the design. I'd be inclined to borrow a 17 or two and try them for size.

I think the recess is for a warning triangle and the strap is to secure it in place.
  10. https://www.facebook.com/angeltuningscotland Run by Paul Winston and his son out of Symington near Kilmarnock. They're mobile and will come to you. I had my previous Mk5 Golf GT Sport 170 TDI remapped by Paul as well. That made 210 bhp and 330 lbs-ft on a local dyno and returned 50 + mpg on a long run if I kept it below 100 mph. If I remember correctly, it was just under Β£300 for the Yeti. Paul couldn't get a virtual unlock code for the ECU so he had to remove it from the car and map it on the bench in his van.
  11. It could well be that the map is producing more soot than standard and at 80k miles the DPF might have quite an ash load. That could well be the cause of more frequent regens and the poorer fuel economy. First thing I'd do would be to have the DPF levels read in VCDS and take it from there. I wouldn't delete the EGR, especially on an EA288 engine which has a more complex emissions system than the earlier engines. Apart from anything else, it plays a role in DPF regens and removing it is likely to increase the soot and ash levels in the DPF. I have the same engine in my Yeti and it's been remapped by Angel Tuning for the past couple of years. I can easily return mpg figures in the low 30's when I'm really hoofing it over Fife back roads which is quite often.
  12. I bought it new in 2008. I had planned on keeping it forever. So after having it remapped to 210 bhp and 330 lbs-ft, fitting the Bilsteins and an anti-lift kit and replacing the plastic flap BMN inlet manifold with a BKD one, I was seduced by something else and sold the Golf to a friend.
  13. I'd be careful of fitting B4's with lowering springs. You might take them outside their standard operating range. They're intended as an OEM replacement. I fitted them to my old Mk5 Golf and they improved the ride and handling but that was on the standard VW Sport suspension springs.
  14. I suspect that the part might well be common to a number of VAG cars. You could do worse than contacting Danny Hill at Wigan VAG parts to see if he's got one that will do the job. https://www.facebook.com/vagpartswigan
  15. Mine appreciated; albeit briefly. I bought it privately in February 2020 with 32k miles on it for Β£11,750 and c. 5 months ago, WBAC offered me Β£14,500 for it with 45k miles on it. The last time I checked, they'd dropped that to Β£10,500; probably because it had rolled over from being 5 years old to 6 years old.

  17. The one on my Yeti did exactly the same. I solved it thus... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/193530911803
  18. 1.9 TDI engines certainly have a reputation for longevity. I suspect that an '08 Scout has the 2.0, 8 valve, BMM engine. It's a nice torquey unit but I'm not sure if it's as robust as the earlier engines. It'll have the added complication of a DPF as well. That's equally true of the Euro 6 engines. My 6 year old 150 TDI Yeti only has some 45k miles on it so I'm not really able to comment on reliability. However, it is very smooth, pleasant to drive and with a remap also goes pretty well.
  19. Other than it's necessary to pass an MOT test.
  20. Octavia SE 1.6TDi CR 110ps, Brilliant silver, wiper and lights assist. Carpet mats, bootmat and mudflaps. Spare wheel. Upto 82mpg. Average 62mpg. September 66reg.
  21. The Model T pickup reminded me of this old Dodge Bros. pickup truck decomposing in the desert at Berlin ghost town in Nevada. I took this pic in 2005. It'd be interesting to see what state of decay it's reached over the past 17 years.
  22. The E-Type was fun but it seems that in times of austerity, we must all make sacrifices. This suits the zeitgeist to a T. πŸ˜‡
  23. Steam rollers are so yesterday, darling. So today was a day for the E-Type.
