  1. The week before Christmas in North East Fife. Taken from the passenger seat of my wife's Karoq.
  2. Is that a 2009 car? If so, it's a PD 170 TDI. I had my '08 Golf remapped by Angel Tuning and it subsequently made 210 bhp and 330 lbs-ft on Star Performance's dyno. I wonder how much the difference is down to the map or just between dyno's. EDIT: Ahh no, '09 would be the first of the CR engines. Even so, they were rated at 170 PS. Yours made significantly more than that as standard.
  3. Have you seen pics of the ASV / throttle body before and after cleaning?
  4. You might find this helpful. https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php/188650-Fault-code-5286-likely-fix Bon chance....👍
  5. I'd be very interested to hear how you find them. I've been thinking about fitting them to our Karoq 190 TDI for the same reason.

How else would it restart if not by using the starter motor? 🤔 The potential issues are increased starter motor wear and shorter battery life.

I fitted CrossClimate + to my Yeti just after I bought it 3 years ago. It came on fairly worn Michelin Pilot Primacy. I love the CrossClimates. I think it's fair to say they've transformed the ride, handling, road holding and steering feel. They charge through standing water without flinching. They're almost as good on snow as the Dunlop D5 Winter Sport we have fitted to the Karoq, only losing out a bit on braking in those conditions. The slightly rounded tread profile introduces a really nice feel to the steering. They also tolerate my enthusiastic cross country driving style and provide enough grip to deploy all 186 bhp and c. 300 lbs-ft through all 4 wheels on a regular basis. Now, there's the new CrossClimate 2 which is reputedly even better.

TDI Karoq is Euro 6, so there shouldn't be an issue in ULEZ zones, for the moment, at least... Personally, I dislike tall FWD cars. I see many posts from people complaining that their 1.5 TSI DSG spins its wheels what pulling away briskly. I suspect that's low friction road surfaces exacerbate the problem. I think it's largely a cynical marketing exercise on behalf of car makers to sell cars to people who want to the looks of an SUV without the added costs in purchasing, running and maintaining an AWD car. I think I'm correct that the only petrol 4x4 Karoq is the Sportline 190 TSI which makes the 38-40 mpg that we average with the 190 TDI look very frugal.

With both a 2016 SE L Drive 150 TDI 4x4 manual Yeti and a 2019 SE L 190 TDI DSG 4x4 sitting in the drive, my opinion is: The Karoq is obviously larger. It's much more refined to drive. It has a range of drive mode options that the Yeti doesn't. On bumpy roads, it's more inclined to float over them whereas the Yeti leaps from crest to crest. The handling is very light when the steering isn't artificially weighted in Sport mode. The Yeti feels more of a piece and perhaps a bit more chuckable. However, the Karoq is very good and rotates exceptionally well in tight corners. No doubt this is aided by XDS+ whereas even with XDS enabled on the front of my Yeti it isn't so good. If you're not an enthusiastic press-on driver, some of this may not be relevant. The seats in the Karoq are much more comfortable. My Yeti has the rare, electrically adjustable, heated leather driver's seat which is reputedly the best but it's a hard and unsupportive thing compared to the Karoq leather seats. Anything else I can tell you....?
  10. CarPlay via USB has been connecting and working well using my iPhone 8 in my 2016 Yeti, recently. I'm just downloading iOS 16.3. Let's hope it doesn't break it.
  11. I put B4's on my Mk5 Golf GT Sport 170 TDI which was remapped to 210 bhp. They were a good improvement over the tired OEM shocks.
  12. Although it may well be that with the handbrake applied the Haldex clutch will not engage and send drive to the rear. I'm not sure if that's the case for Haldex 4 but it certainly seems to be the case for the Haldex 5 on my car, given the ease with which I can handbrake turn it on low friction surfaces.
  13. As Root said, above, it's pre MQB. It's built on the Golf Mk5 platform. The engine is EA 288 so it's likely that VW Tiguan 184 TDI or Skoda Karoq 190 TDI turbo would be a fairly direct swap. Forgive me if I don't go out and start tearing our cars to bits to verify that. Darkside Developments would be the people to talk to. However, from my previous discussions with them, I can fairly confidently say you're not going to get much over 220 bhp without fitting bigger injectors. I'm currently at c. 185 bhp with a remap from Angel Tuning and it drives very well on that.
  14. Having seen a post by a garage in Galashiels that included a pic of a completely clogged Haldex 5 gauze strainer taken from a Karoq at 20k miles, I decided to get the one in our Karoq 190 TDI serviced at 20k miles. I had previously persuaded West End Garage in Dunfermline to service the Haldex on my Yeti by removing the gauze strainer and cleaning it. However, this time, I took the Karoq to Star Performance, in Dysart, who I've been using for 20 years to fettle my VAG cars. Attached are the before and. after pics they took.
  15. Je pense que vous voulez dire "pedantry".
  16. Buy a set of good, used alloys. Our 190 TDI Karoq is currently shod with its winter wheels. It's actually a set of 17" Audi Q3 alloys which I bought with Pirelli Sottozero winter tyres, several years ago for one of my wife's previous Tiguans. At the time, I paid £350 for them. They're now shod with Dunlop D5 Winter Sport which are superb on snow and ice but maybe a bit unnecessary most of the time in Wilts. On my Yeti, I've fitted Michelin CrossClimate + which have been brilliant in all conditions. If it were me, I'd be looking for a set of good used 17' alloys and fitting them with the new, updated CrossClimate 2 in 225/55x17.
  17. Me. The Yeti and the Karoq sit out on the drive. The garage is for motorcycles, 🥰
  18. I find exactly the opposite. My SE L Drive Yeti has heated leather with the rare electrically adjustable driver's seat. I find it to be too small and I'm by no means a big guy. It's also too hard and therefore uncomfortable. Our SE L Karoq also has heated leather and the seats are sumptuous in comparison with the hard perches in the Yeti. Ideally, I'd like to swap the Yeti's front seats for a pair from a Mk1 VW Tiguan which is on the same platform. We've previously had three of those and the seats were all preferable to the Yeti's. Each to their own...
  19. I had a '67 Anglia van back in the mid 70's. I don't think the handbrake would hold on the flat, let alone lock up the rear wheels. The good thing about the Yeti is that pulling on the handbrake decouples the Haldex and I can therefore keep my right foot in it as I spin it round.
  20. I had them fitted to 16" Audi A3 alloys on my old Mk5 Golf. I wasn't particularly impressed by them. The Golf was mapped to 210 bhp and 330 lbs-ft and on the Hankooks it was very easy to overcome the traction control, resulting in massive wheelspin. On snow and ice, they weren't a patch on the Dunlop D4 Winter Sport and D5 Winter Sport which I've run on three VW Tiguans and our current Karoq over the years nor as good as the Michelin CrossContact + currently fitted to my Yeti.
  21. I've just seen this thread. Having both a Yeti 150 TDI and a Karoq 190 TDI, I have to disagree. Also, I'm reminded of this because snow is on the way. You can't handbrake turn the Karoq whereas the Yeti spins round very nicely on the handbrake; especially in the snow. 😁
  22. I fitted the Anti-Lift Kit, which is what this is, to my remapped Mk5 Golf 170 TDI. It resulted in less lift of the front end under hard acceleration, a more planted feel overall and a considerable reduction in understeer. This was all very welcome in a car putting 210 bhp and 330 lbs-ft through the front wheels. Whether it's worth it on your car is going to be a matter of experimentation.

I think every VAG vehicle I've driven in recent years has indicated 80 mph when my GPS has shown 76 mph. On the other hand two rental Nissans, a Murano in USA and a Note on Fuerteventura have agreed exactly with my GPS. I'm currently running 215/60x17 Dunlop D5 Winter Sport on Audi Q3 alloys, on the Karoq. The handling is a fair bit more "pointy" on these than it is on the 18" Bridgestones.
  24. Škoda dealerships sell insulated mugs that fit the cupholders. There's also these... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371803153752?fits=Car+Make%3ASkoda&hash=item569131e558:g:xSgAAOSwiONYPz0w&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoPqcmsd0opHfRRMP%2Fj7yL%2Bdda3S994Nl40y3vqN06zic2YrJKIY%2BSH4zBWe67ykAjIme%2FcVQNvEXWa0RlUDLKpEpQCohknJGW3zzTBZ3W2gEm0YDNGPC11bA0ENTFSEP%2Bp1Xhz2YWZqtwEWFy0LeKZxs26POWuu2RUzcFzSym%2FtmO8i%2FBcV2xM8e6KVju48BwZWMzdgbtJI%2FhxfHzegzJMU%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR56NysWaYQ
  25. It raises the question about who mapped it for you?
